It won't be a popular opinion but watching the S7E1 4x today for the first time it seemed the actors were not into the roles as well as previous seasons. The queen felt like was reading off a teleprompter at times and the scenes didn't flow well at all. Already seeing it this episode as well. Previously the story flowed really well and while there was filler shit that filler seemed to serve purpose of spirit of the story. Now it almost seems like youtube clips piecing together a story.

I know they said the purpose of less episodes was to cut down on it, but I am starting to feel that was a mistake. That maybe GoT was better when it had some useless shit in it instead of just hopping straight to 5 lines of dialogue then jumping across the world for dickless sex and gender study.

It certainly felt out of place to me. Both episodes have. GoT appeal to me was it was like watching a live action book, like Princess Bride, without the sick kid. It was a story on screen. This season so far while still "good" hasn't had that story feel to it. It is more like a badly edited movie.

GRRM shot his load with Storm of Swords, which may be the best single modern fantasy novel in existence. I think he realized that himself, which is why he spent 97 years plopping out the next two kinda passable books and is taking a further 97 for the next one. It's all fan service, expensive battles and the Hound from here.

Euron scene was a nice little surprise, other than that though these first two episodes have felt a little too predictable. Hoping the writing improves a bit.
