Dany relenting when Olenna asks if she will take some council was kind of big. That was clearly the start of a plot point concerning Tyrion and Dany and the story at large. Dany will now question Tyrion and his motives (even when she probably shouldnt as we all know Tyrion acts with honor and wont betray Dany at this point). This was clear, as the look on Tyrions face said it all when she repeated his line about ruling over ashes to her subordinates. Its almost like he is somewhat surprised at how much he has grown on her already, she is clearly taking his advisement to heart.

But now Olenna is going to be an opposing force. If you want to talk about SJW bullshit then highlight this. She basically laid it out bare, saying that she survived so long by NOT LISTENING TO MEN LOL. Dany sadly looked like she saw some truth to what she said, and will now cool off on Tyrion. This is significant. You add that with the loss of her fleet with the Euron situation, and Qyburns scorpion bolt launcher, and now there is some true peril for Dany. She has lost the means to move around her host, her dragons face a perceived true threat, and internal conflicts with her newly formed alliance will hamper her actions over the course of this season.
Oh yeah, and this reminded me. I said all the Dragonstone shit was cringe last night, but I really wanted to highlight the Varys scene. That one really bugged me. It was just completely out of left field. One of those, "oh shit, we need some conflict" scenes.

It's like Daenerys suddenly thought it was time for some infighting. "We've finally managed to make it to Westeros...time to start ripping apart my inner circle, because reasons!"

If you can't tell, I'm really disappointed in the writing this season.

My only problem is what others have mentioned. Now that there's no source material, everything is phoned in.

The red wedding is a good example. When you reread the books you want to scream at Robb because you can see it coming. However on the first read, that shit made me throw my book.

The showrunners are not GRRM and it's showing.

I will say the pirate battle was nearly movie quality with all the effects

Hardhome was also awesome and post-book material. Like I said, just look forward to the battles / epic scenes, as that's where the good stuff will be.

I'm looking forward to the new GOT spinoff that they are working on: A Flower on the Wall - The story of the first trans female Lord Commander of the Night's Watch.

I wanted to give up on this thread when Wooly went back to the essence. But I didnt. Im like hot pie, IM A SURVIVOR.

Theres still lulz to be had, especially when people are openly wishing for The Night King to lay waste to every single character, location and situation in the entire ASOIAF universe, lol.

edit: Aaaaaaaaand there we are. A Flower on the Wall... HAHAHAHA wtf. Almost as ridiculous as Palums Muslim lesbian Mon Calamari fleet commander in Star Wars.

I'm rooting for Euron myself. Though I'd love to see him team up with the Night King and create an army of undead pirates.

Sadly there would be no "teaming up", but The Night King shitting on Euron and his fleet and converting them to water walkers would be pretty amazing.

Id rather see Dany live long enough to bring back the Targs for real by marrying her nephew and see her Jon and Tyrion on dragonback. Fullfilling the theory that Tyrion is actually Danys bastard brother. But thats just me.

Also, if this is how they get around the wall, it's another one of those "why the fuck did they include that" moments; specifically about Bran being touched by the Night's King. It makes sense that Bran is the key that allows them to break the magic of the wall. To Mcguffin a fucking ice bridge is just stupid.

This show really is going to end up like LOST. Last two seasons ruin what could've been with a bunch of magic and dumb shit that makes no sense. 5 years from now we'll all have forgotten about this show.

That and the idea of the Wall just crashing down by some means just seems way more thematic and expected. But dat fantasy subversion tho!

You thought you'd get some dramatic magic shit. Naw dog, just going to go around your stupid magical wall that took 8000 years to build.

The longer this goes on, the more I think GRRM should've stuck with his trilogy idea. He really had no clue how to wrap it up. Really, books 4 and 5 were a bunch of meandering bullshit.

I don't want to do the book spoiler thing, but it's clear that he just threw in a bunch of random characters and other arcs that were completely irrelevant. I think because he didn't know where he wanted to go. Almost like he has writers ADD.

I wouldn't be surprised if when Winds of Winter comes out, it's 2000 pages of nothing happening.

I agree, the show runners are basically just trying to get to the finish line. I even wonder how much of an outline they have now. I kind of wonder if it isn't just maybe Jon and Dany's stories and that's it. The rest they're shooting from the hip with.

This has been GRRM's writing style possible since the beginning of his career. I read an article about it some time ago but writers tend to fall into one in or the other of a major spectrum.

I am paraphrasing as I forget the actual words they used but there is the [some word] where the writer outlines everything he wants to do. Then fills in the gaps to get there draft after draft. Never deviating from the strong general outline with some key specifics he wants in the story.

The other side of the coin is called the gardener or some shit. Where you just write things together and through all of your planting the story you want eventually comes to bear fruit along with the rest of the crop. This is the kind of writer GRRM is.

Like we've been saying here forever. Its extremely obvious that GRRM wrote himself into a corner by the 3rd book. Now we are seeing the effects of it.

I have a hard time believing the ocean has frozen over, at least solidly enough to walk an army across. It wasn't frozen all the way up in Hardhome during that battle. I either see it as sloppy opening credits, or just implying "winter has come", or it's winter clouds/snow/mist over the ocean.

In more relation to the episode. How can Randall Tarly seriously consider what Jaime is proposing? The idea of the Seven Kingdoms just shrugging off Cersei blowing up the Great Sept (Vatican) along with everyone in it and then proclaiming herself king is just totally absurd.

Well tough luck House Tyrell. Your loyal vassals will now betray you for the murderer of your kin. Good times all around!

Indeed, I have always said he is no Tolkien or Lewis - he is not bad...but... I always have said he has gotten over his head... its obvious it started as a typical fun fantasy novel- but about by book 2, he started getting massive good reviews and followings in the political aspects of the books- this IMO was never meant to be anything but fancy filler to the "magic and fantasy" - so he embraced it...and really has no where to go- its convoluted plots on top of convoluted plots that all need to just fall into place - a singular place that has been set and made for years and years.

The ocean didnt fucking freeze over. Just watch the opening credits instead of looking at that fake news picture. In the video is clearly cloud that moves with the camera, and 1 second later you can see the wall properly end at the water.

Do you think they are so fucking stupid as they would put that in the intro, when for 6 seasons they have done such a good job of updating the images to reflect the changing powers. They didnt start season 3 with the Boltons banner over winterfell.

So does Grey Worm have no cock? I was under the impression they just cut the balls off.

It wouldn't matter, without testosterone it'd be a baby cock and it wouldn't get hard. Supposedly the unsullied are cut prior to puberty, right?

I don't think they'd have deep voices or be big either. I think they'd be kinda slender girly men. The training might make up for that, but probably not. Kind of a weird concept.
