Edit: It reminds me of the Arya and Waif scene. You have a chance for Arya to be smart and hide or set up a trap and all they do is have her be dumb and get stabbed.

Yea I feel the same way about both. Both characters are still kicking around and clearly have room to be more interesting and developed (I still like Arya because I liked book Arya a lot and TV Arya is reasonably close) and they totally dropped the ball, basically making them hapless despite them "winning" so far. At least Arya hasn't sucked as much after the weird waif combat.

Almost all of the characters have been outed as stupid though. Here's just some of the instances;
Dany's use of her dragons
Jon warned how Bolton acts yet fell in trap like a retard.
Bran knows everything but no one is using his ability except to kill LF.
They can send messages about Jon about getting trapped by NK but no one ever communicates to him about stuff like Bran.
LF dumps Sansa on Ramsey
No one explored stick figure cave until Jon
Jaime charges dragon incinerating his entire army
Tyrion's ideas since coming home
3 eyed Bran not thinking Jon's heritage is a big deal

What if GRRM just let the AI write the filler for his books and then he penned the final couple chapters so everything makes sense at the end.

I don't think Bran is supposed to be showing excitement about anything. They're pretty much pitching him as the HAL 9000 of the North. And he is probably waiting to talk to Jon personally about his parentage. That's a bit of information you wouldn't trust to a raven though I suppose he could warg into it to make sure that only Jon got the message.

It was a case of clearly trying too hard to surprise thru a quick plot turn.

If they were that worried, they could have had Little finger die, THEN play the scene of Sansa and Bran talking to one another. This isn't that hard, and it would have cleared up confusion in the process.
