I don't think this episode indicated the writers lost their way. This last episode was exactly like every other episode of GoT we've gotten since season 5. It was predictable and boring. They foreshadowed those ballistas a while ago.

Now what would have been great is if they were wrong, the giant spears couldn't pierce dragon scales and Euron got wiped the fuck out after his first spear just deflected harmlessly off.

They weren't foreshadowed. They were literally used before.

Dany, knows they exist. Jamie knows they exist. Tyrian probably should. Varis probably should.
so, any attack strategy should assume fucking ballista. Hell, the dragons didn't die THEN, only because the ground forces were retarded, and not actually manning the ballista for some fucking reason, until long after the battle started.

Also, then the real question goes back to, why the fuck didn't Jamie take any up north to fight the NK, or, didn't the other northerners claim this technology, and use it.
Dragon glass ballista bolts would have been pretty good versus Wights standing back, and an undead dragon.

Kind of lame he didn't say bye to Ghost, but then again Ghost had a much bigger presence in the books than the show. Just glad he was a good boy and gets to retire now, it's better than Ghost charging in with the dothraki and just dying.

I was really bothered by the Daenerys begging scene, it was stupid. She's never acted like that before, so it was way out of character.

With the begging scene, at least they somewhat build up that Dany's weakness is Jon so it's not completely crazy she would be begging him (it affects her relationship to him and her crown). Brienne begging Jaime though was something else. We have never, ever seen Brienne act that way. Yea we all know she's in love with Jaime but to stand there crying her eyes out in a robe. That's a little much.

So, the only piece of the puzzle is who's Mark Hamill in the scenario? Where's the disgruntled actor that just can't keep his angered bottled up over the misuse and abuse of his character? With how bad the writing has been and most of these actors knowing that their careers depend on how well this series ends, where's the angry actor calling out shit?
pretty sure Charles dance and Sean bean were the only actors with enough pull to openly shit on the show. Everyone else has to play ball if they want any careers.

The whole Brienne/Jamie thing was cringe. It would have kinda made sense if they had built up to it while they were actually travelling together, but their interaction in the last episode was basically well, we haven't seen each other on screen for X seasons, but the shows coming to an end, so "hi again, let's fuck and you'll insta fall in love with me". Cringe.

At least Jon will be back with Ghost if they're true.

right, but wtf is the point of the nights watch now? All the undead are dead, wildlings presumably will be peaceful for the time being, the wall has a giant fucking hole in it. They have no purpose now unless Bran says “btw, the dead will return one day” or something. Are they just Westeros ambassadors now?

It's just a Westerosi Incel club now.

Straight from the directors mouth Dany can’t even remember that Kings Landing has a fucking Navy and you think she can remember a failed crossbow? Or maybe she remembered but she hadn’t had her Starbucks yet, and we all know how queens get if they don’t have their Starbucks.

Yeah I have no idea what the Night's Watch's purpose would be. I guess Bran could make some cryptic reference to the Great Other still having power that will one day return. Are they going to repair the Wall? I assume Castle Black will remain "open" if they do, so that wildlings can continue traveling back and forth.

If the last episode wasnt an indication of the writers losing their way, then this sure as fuck was.

SO many issues. Most of them have been voiced but at this point it is just fucking BIZZARE. Arya declines Gendry, who is made lord of Stormlands....for?

That's totally in line with her character starting with S01E01, you clown

Benny Hill Dreadfort raid is still the single worst scene, but this season has certainly been written by a potato.

bronn has to move that sucker by shear force of will,

Euron seemingly has fly by wire electronic controls and a cool seat.

We're talking about Daenerys. In the books she was like 12 when she was first mounted by khal drogo. At this point she's what, 16?

Wait, that's not a joke? The writers said that Dany forgot about the Iron Fleet? They were literally talking about it in the "war room" at Winterfell when discussing what to do...
