i think they didnt kill them off because they had nothing left for episode 6. as it was, episode 6 felt like it ended with jon killing Dany and Drogon flying off with her corpse. something they could have done in ep 5 instead of all that 9/11 porn filler. when you really think about it, they threw in so much filler that they could have only had 4 episodes or even just 3. it was a huge waste of time.
It's almost like White Walkers should have been the finale!

They should have attacked Kings Landing first and have Jon kill Dany during the Long Night like the Azor Ahai prophecy.

You even get whole episodes with Dany as Mad Queen to develop that further.

That really would have gone a long way in helping the season out.

That actually makes a lot of fucking sense. Everything could have shook out the same, this would have just made more sense and felt better.

Jon killing Dany could coincide with Arya killing the Night King.

The End.

The unsullied and dothraki would have just died in the battle. How did they NOT do this....

i was trying to figure out the simplest way they could have made it better, while staying on their path
Danny's fleet takes heavy losses from wildfire mines, Missandei gets captured and chained to one red keeps towers.
Rhaegal dies at the battle of Kingslands to the ballistas, with Jon seemingly dies to when they crash. which also takes out part of the red keep, killing Missandei. the army of the north breaks and leaves after seeing it happen.
unsullied and dothraki start to get routed as Danny was trying to only attack the armies but was thwarted by the ballistas then sees Grayworm die, goes nuts and burns everything
Ayra tells the hound she is leaving, but tries to kill Cersei and is caught by Queen's Guard. the Hound then has to fight the Mountain to save her
Jon kills Danny when she starts talking of burning the north for fleeing
Jon takes the throne

in a total redo of season 8, would had all the humans get wrecked and have to cross the narrow sea and try to figure out how to defeat milions of undead as the sea slowly froze.

=
also learned a couple of things from some of the history focused youtubers about the kingslanding battle. it was common for armies to come out of their keeps/castle and attack the attackers
attackers would not setup as close as they did as they would got rained on by arrows, catapults and trebuchets, so they would need to be at least 3 football fields away

There wasnt anyway to. It was beyond obvious when it took 6 full seasons for Danny to leave Essos that there was never going to be anyway you could tie up the million and one story lines in a way that wasnt beyond retarded as we saw.

Best way to watch GoT is to stop watching after S6 and makeup whatever you want to for an ending.

ATT buys TimeWarner in 2016. GoT goes into a death spiral after season 6 (which airs just months before the ATT acquisition). Coincidence? I think not. Everything ATT touches turns to shit.

I would slightly contest that. Up to S6+ first 15 minutes of Season 7. After Arya says the North Remembers, roll credits.

Coincidence.

The fucking script writers are the problem. And Martin is also complicit.

The so called D&D duo are clearly great at adapting given material into a script. Hence the grand success and popularity of the first five seasons.

But they are equally as clearly incapable of writing a story on their own. And the fact that Martin was a consultant makes him equally to blame.

When D&D state unequivocally in an interview that they "don't care about storyline threads" Not a direct quote, a paraphrase, sorry) then you see the reason why the show failed.

Martin - stop jerking off and eating yourself to death and just finish the fucking series already. And make sure you ignore the show completely please.

Creatively they should have ended at the end of the books and waited to make a movie to end it all off to force Martin to finish the books before he got paid anymore.

Edit and P.S. - D&D have been engaged by Disney for Star Wars now. It is officially over for that universe as well. All Hail the Grand Entertainment of the 21st Century!

Not according to the leaks. GRRM is absolved via "digging in".

D&D never consulted in earnest-- the directors of these episodes have come forward and exposed how difficult they are to work with. They "dig in" fast, and before you even enter the room their mind is already made up.

GRRM bears no responsibility for Season 8.

He does to some extent. Dude should have come up with the book material over the last 9 years. But he didnt, leading to dumb and dumberer having to make it up as they went.

I hear the next book is going to be a Star Citizen limited edition collectors set preorder bonus.

Anyone interested should probably get in, right now.

He bears plenty of it. This was his magnum opus, after all!

His estate will publish some crap filled drafts posthumously. That's how his story ends.

Dude has been peddling other shitbooks for years instead of finishing this series. He is an utter piece of shit.

More proof the award shows are selfserving and scripted. At least the actors can act surprised?!

Eh, award shows love to give awards out for past performances. GoT will clean up hard because it was the biggest show in the world. Hopefully Lena and Alfie win some 'make up' awards for all the other times they were snubbed.
