PoV is irrelevant. Why does it hurt nerd butts? Oh no, I have a name/face to my primary antagonist, for now at least. It's not like it's some giant surprise or reveal considering it's no one we've had any meaningful contact with in either the books or the show.

Bitches and their fake outrage. Bring feminism to a medieval time period fictitious world!
I unfriended someone on Facebook just today for bitching about the Craster's Keep background rape. Sick of hearing about this shit. If you don't like it, don't watch it and shut the fuck up.

When Daario swears allegiance to Dany he says that the Second Sons are hers so the mercenaries are part of her army. If you look around the crowd scene after all the slaves revolt and are cheering for Dany you can see some mercenary looking folks in the crowd.
Yea I just haven't see any of them since. Maybe they are just all chilling in the back or maybe Daario let them go which I can't see any reason for really as they surely have enough gold after having sacked so many cities to keep them around. Unless they were in the latest episode and I missed them, I will have to rewatch it and check.

I don't mind the rape scenes at all but I can see them being a problem for some people. I think unlike the other violent actions shown (murder, torture and mutilation) some people just haven't been desensitized to rape. It does happen in some shows and movies but not at quite the volume as it does in GoT. After 20+ years of action movies and torture porn (movies like Saw and Hostel) I don't even blink when I see someone getting killed or torn apart (I can't stomach to watch the shit on liveleak though).

What do people think happen in the real world with an absence of law and order?

GoT is G-rated compared to that reality.

Exactly. Part of the appeal of GoT to me is that it's a gritty, no-holds-barred depiction of the horrors of medieval wartime. I get Neno's point about audiences being less desensitized to rape. But what's frustrating to me is that anyone intelligent enough to sit down and write a long, articulate Facebook post (or blog post, opinion article, open letter to HBO, etc) should also be smart enough to realize that for themselves. They should ask themselves why they are so bent out of shape about rape scenes when they've been enjoying 3 seasons of graphic depictions of murder, maiming, torture, etc. All of which are arguably worse fates than rape.

They really want attention, because their man aint giving it. Perhaps some brave soul will give it to them this night.

Thanks for the answers re: my Valar Morghulis question.

I had just thought the phrase had more meaning that what seems to be their equivalent of 'YOLO', but I wasn't too sure either way. The thing is, I'mreally hesitantto do a web search on pretty much any GofT question as I really don't want to get accidentally spoilered (yet again) so actually asking here in the no spoilers thread is the best option going.

I know it all came from the moment where the face-changing Assassin (Jaqen) had given Arya the coin.

From a GofT wiki:
"Jaqen gives her a silver coin and the words "Valar Morghulis," telling her to speak them to any man from Braavos should she ever need to find him again."
From that, it seemed (to me) that the phrase had a deeper and more important meaning. It's like "This coin and this phrase will lead you to me"

Then after that the other uses of the phrase in the show seemed to vary and that built confusion.

I found the coin scene on Youtube last night and re-watched it, I can still see how I left with that impression. Oh and I also found a web question posted by a person who sort of thought like me. In the end it probably comes down to me missing an episode along the way, something as simple as that.

It is more like their equivalent of "As salam alaykum" or however the hell you say that. Considering what it literally means and who the guy is that gave her the coin, it isn't crazy to think that it was intended to have some deeper meaning.

How is it not a big reveal if it's somebody we've never seen before, especially somebody who is involved with a major part of the series? It hurts my nerd butt because it's something I'd want to experience in the books first, as other have said. I don't want any reveals in the show that will subtract from my enjoyment of the future books, because as good as the show is, the books are far better. If this happens again I'll just stop watching as someone earlier in the thread said. I have the willpower, too. I mean, if GRRM dies before finishing the books or says he's never going to finish them, then yes I'll just watch the show and consider it cannon.

One of the reason's the Night King shabazz isn't in the books is probably because who the fuck is going to PoV narrate it? The baby? Icey McFreezeface? Nah. Might be more pieces of the story GRRM can show us now that we don't have to have everything fed to us by some eyewitness account.
This is exactly why the show should be showing things we've never seen and exactly why I have no problem with it. The POV writing style severely limits what readers get to see, as far as what's happening all over the world. What readers gain into character insight, they lose in those other regards.

The Night's King reveal was one of the better parts of this season so far, and I'm definitely a fan of the books.

Exactly. The show is an entirely different medium to present the story. They've done a great job so far.

Part of me hopes that subsequent reveals cause book readers to stop watching the show and then complain about hearing spoilers on the internet about the show.

This, too, is my dream.
