Yeah, I even told my wife I pictured him as much older. As far as the John Lord Commander stuff being short, it's because they've mostly skipped over the political stuff in this show outside of the small council. It's a lot less interesting when it just seems like an off-the-cuff decision though.

I've got to say, just like the books, the Daeny shit is still the most boring crap ever to me. Arya, as always, is by far the most interesting. I thought that Jaqen was down in Oldtown or something. Or it was at least assumed it was him.

As a non book readers, I'm basically just assuming that Jaqen isn't actually Jaqen. I'm assuming that's a face that any faceless man wears.

There would have to be some public face for the men of bravossi to recognize them by. The old black man seemed to be that face. Maybe Jaqen is their going out of town a murderin' party dress.

It's obviously a death-cult with hoodoo voodoo, worshiping a version of the Lord of Light. The emergence of monotheism out of pantheism would be hard to miss in this show. But without reading the books, it's not even clear how many of them there are. It'd be sort of hard to keep track with dopplegangers. I expect some sort of mystical scene in the future with, "The Man is not the Man who took your names from you in Harrenhall. The Man is only The Man. The Girl should know this by now."

Killing Pate is probably just something that's been cut, which frees up Jaqen.
I think they're saving it for the end of the season. Oldtown will be one big episode/scene.

Mainly because there's too many stories that tie in or lead through Pate. And we haven't met the Sand Snakes yet, so introducing the archer (forgot her name) would be useless.

Im glad they used Jaqen. Thye show really hasnt been able to explain enough about the Faceless men. SO this was smart for keeping the non book readers in the loop.

My wife who barely remembers who is who, was like "oh its that guy from a few years ago, the assassin. So shes going to become an assassin, I didnt know what that building was for" She thought it was like a friends castle...

So they have done a good job of making this much more accessible.

Well Lollys got over her no-talking thing.

Keeping Bronn around as we expected is genius but ffs I thought Lancel was brought back just to confess to Jaime. Bronn had better be the one to clue Jaime the fuck in. Also, we do lose out on Lord Stokeworth (even if it was like, two paragraphs) and Jaime channeling Lord Tywin at Riverrun, which could have been great.

I see why they couldn't fit the ironborn in, but that means Bolton doesn't have anything to do either until Stannis gets off his ass. With the fighting in the north and the siege of Riverrun cut nothing is happening aside from characters traveling places, not even in the background. Dany isn't even facing war yet. We may as well have the turtles.

Maybe in Volantis they find out about the massing armies.

PS: Holy shit @ Drogon

Doran Bashir is awesome. In the books Doran wasn't fat, just gouty. Pretty much a shit episode, IMO...the entire sequence with LF was fucking retarded. I don't mind changes and/or speeding things up for time, but ep2 was full of hamfisted bs.

I agree. I thought they were trying to keep Sansa's identity a secret?

A lot happened in ep 2 but it all was glossed over so quickly. I wonder what they're in such a hurry to set up, since other than Cersei naked time I don't understand what they're going to be filling the back half of the season with.

It's not like all those people were going to take selfies and get on Facebook and text Cersei where she is so she could call in a drone strike. News travels slowly and is unreliable rumor by the time it gets anywhere. And Littlefinger likes rumors, without them, what could he manipulate?

She's wanted for regicide, ffs. Cersei finding out isn't the only thing they would have to worry about. LF would need to kill everyone in that inn.

One thing that seemed to get lost in the TV adaptation was when Brienne was talking to Sansa, why didn't she mention the most compelling argument of all: Why the hell didnt brienne mention to sansa, "oh and hey i just saw your sister being held by the hound and so i killed the fuck out of him and freed her, but she got away so yknow, be on the lookout for her and all"

If Roose is looking for some new backing from King's Landing, wouldn't he be inclined to just deal Sansa to Cersi for that, either now or later after he's secured the North? Maybe wait until she spits out a kid from Ramsey?

If she doesn't trust Peter with Sansa, why would she trust him with Arya? She specifically asked to speak to Sansa alone and she turned her down.

I'm pretty sure he was described as a fat guy
Honestly I thought it was a pretty decent choice its a character the tv audiances know without having to introduce somebody new. Also given the faceless can appear as pretty much anybody they chose to who is to say that is even the person she had met previously maybe its a stock alias the faceless use for certain things.
