It is a little weird that there is more outrage from Sansa having not quite consensual sex on the night of her not quite consensual wedding than there was when Ramsey was randomly chopping stuff off of Theon. Is rape really worse than torturing a man for weeks just for fun?

I'll find it funny if the message for Sansa to leave that light if she was in trouble was Ramsay's doing. Maybe he'll cut off one of her meat curtains as punishment.

Another food for thought is her entire marriage with Ramsay is a sham. She's technically still married to Tyrion. She got her cherry popped the hard way for nothing.

Theon betrayed the Starks and killed children. He deserved punishment, and probably inhumane punishment at that. What Ramsay did was holy shit fucked up, but if a woman had killed those kids, the standards would be lowered for her too.

The evil bastard in me hopes that this turns GRRM into an even bigger SJW than Joss Whendon.

It didn't help that the whole "dress up in the enemy's clothes and infiltrate their base" thing is like the tropiest trope in the history of tropes.
Yeah, that whole scene was pretty dumb, particularly since they didn't bother explaining how they managed to penetrate what I would assume to be a decently guarded royal palace. The assumption that one can just dress up as a random palace redshirt and enter unchallenged is really hard to swallow.

What would have made it better would be if they snuck around hiding behind poles like Scooby Doo and the Gang. They should have had Myrcella and Trystane up on the roof and had Bronn say "we need to go up on the roof". Then when they get caught by Areo Hotah they look at the sand snakes and say "We would have gotten away with it if it weren't for those meddling kids!"

I generally avoid this thread because I haven't read book 5 (swore after book four that I wouldn't read it until he finished the series), but can someone confirm for me that they've seriously deviated from the books' storyline? My recollection is slightly diminished because I read book 4 like seven years ago, but I could swear that there's literally nothing so far in this season that occurred in book 4.

I had to fast forward skip all the Theon torture parts. How anyone can want to watch that I don't know.

It's following the book for the most part, but a lot of parts are being played out by a different character than they were in the books so yes it's pretty seriously different.

Since the marriage was never consummated she isn't technically married to Tyrion.

Yeah, I think the main difference is that we like Sansa and don't like Theon although people were mad about Cerscei having not quite consensual sex last year and she certainly deserves to have bad things happen to her.

One of the main problem I have with this show is back: you cannot establish a violent word and have people act like jackasses with impunity. Cercei, the Sparrow and Ramsey should all be dead for all their jackassery. In such a violent world, the people who are still alive should be because they are smart enough to not get into trouble (The Spider, The Maester), smart enough to weasel their way out of trouble (Tyrion) or inaccessible/strong enough to discard most troubles (Danny, Brienne). Now watch these jackasses survive miraculously for two seasons just like Joffrey did, while Bronn will die next episode because of the flesh wound from a dagger most certainly coated with poison...

Very few people know what Ramsay has done. The Sparrows have seized power very briefly, this is a matter of a few days or weeks, and with the kingsguard and the city watch basically gutted at this point, who's to stop them? Cersei was very well protected for a long time, so no one could hurt her.

Mostly they've combined characters to an absolutely criminal level, but yes they've moved away from the books. The problem with this season is Jaime is Ser Arys Oakheart, Sansa Stark is Jeyne Pool, Ellaria and Trystane are aspects of Arianne (WHAT THE FUCK?!), and the golden company, the ironborn, darkstar, etc. just aren't around.

The worst part is removing Arianne and Victarion, two significant POV characters, and twisting Jaime's desire for redemption away from "Fuck that bitch" to "I must make Cersei happy." Removing Uncat is forgivable since fuck that bitch. Hopefully they still intend to have Jaime turn against Cersei.

The Sparrows pissed of just about every wealthy people in King's Landing. This + humbly serving soup = you die. Cercei has been a consistent threat to the Tyrell for months. She should have turned the same color as Joffrey about 5 min after the royal wedding. As for Ramsay, dozens of people know of his deeds or suspect them, two of whom where alone in a room with him. There was no moon door available, but anything pointy would have done the trick with Theon taking the fall if need be.

You guys are missing the point with the faith militants/Sparrow. You can't just start massacring members of the country's. church. That seems like a decent way to get a full blown rebellion. Religion is probably the one thing as ingrained in culture as nobility. It's why Cersei is so exceptionally stupid here and she doesn't even know it.

My main complaint is Lady Olenna should have been marching in front of a column 50000 strong when they found out Loras their heir was taken. No house would sit by for this.
