I agree with Soy. The production values are the same if not better and this forum is notorious for loving something and slowly over time ripping it apart. This season has been great, for the first time I don't hate Sansas story and we finally get to see what Tyrion does with Daenerys. I like this show the same as I did three seasons ago if not more. People here just get salty over things for little to no reason.

From an "action" point of view, it's horrible, i mean wtf, they basically gave us a condensed storyline of "Gladiator", with Jorrah putting on a helmet and kicking ass to garner attention. It wasn't much kicking ass btw, just him rolling through ruffians, there was no "exchange" of blows, just Jorrah laying some smackdown, how do you train for this? "you stand here, look stupid, and wait for Jorrah to hit you"
"OK!"

Sam "stand there and take lots of lumps"
"OK!"

We all agree the sand snakes are horrible and they only casted dagger girl for Grade A tits.

little boat stonemen scene just had tyrion hopping all over the place and jorrah swinging once or twice, lots of camera shakes(to hide action)

bron and jaime vs the sand men?, again notice the copious amount of camera shakes, there was never this much camera shaking around. Plus half the fight is just jaime stumbling about and blocking an overhand chop like 8x, that's action?

unsullied slaughter, how did they hide action this time? they had those masked guys(the rich ppl) use daggers and just swarm and zerg rush the unsullied, and be all stabby stabby. There's not any action here, as it's all just zerging unsullied, mounting them and doing a stabby stab.
selmy? sure he gets a nice 10s in

These are pretty much the action scenes, 7episodes in (working backwards) and they suck.

There's no doubt the source material has taken a "wrong turn" in S4 and S5 though, so the producers have an uphill battle to make this shit interesting. Hopefully S6 will be awesome.

I am actually hoping the next book does NOT come out before S6, so we don't get all angsty about how the show has deviated.

I wouldn't be surprised if the show ends before the next book comes out.

That would make things pretty weird. As much as I bad mouth the series and the author, there's a good chance I'll still finish the series when it comes out. I'm already put off by stuff that is happening in the tv series that didn't happen in the books, like Selmy's death, because it makes me think that GRRM is either going to kill Selmy in Winds of Winter or else Selmy is ultimately so irrelevant that killing him off doesn't really matter.

It would not have been an uphill battle to keep things interesting if we got Greyjoys doing viking stuff and Freys getting eaten and slaughtered. Why they decided to focus on Sam, Dany, and Dorne is a headscratcher. I guess like someone said just the popularity of Oberyn.

Yeah I can't think of a good action sequence in this season, but it's not over yet!

I also really want to find out the truth of Jon Snow's parentage. Wouldn't surprise me GRRM decided to rewrite it after people figured out it was Lyanna and Rhaegar, because that's really the only theory that makes any sense considering he refused to tell Catelyn anything about the mother.

Maybe GRRM thought about his fans, decided 'fuck em all' and rewrote WoW so that Jon died and stayed dead and replaced his part in the story with like Theon or something.

I doubt we'd get that till season 6 at the soonest. They've been dropping a lot of breadcrumbs this season about Lyanna and Rhaegar this season though (monologues from Barristan and LF/Sansa in the catacombs) which pretty much telegraphs it. We'll prolly get a lot more before the end of the season.

If the casting speculation is right and Samwell spends time with his Dad and family next season, I bet Randall Tarly will end up spilling a LOT. In the books Jojen and Meera reed tell the story of the Knight of the Laughing Tree during that tournament when Rhaegar passed on Elia and fell for Lyanna, but Jojen is dead in the show so we won't get exposition about how their Dad was the only other man who survived the Tower of Joy with Ned (and so probably knew about the Lyanna's baby).

But Randall Tarly knew Rhaegar closely and may have witnessed R+L as something other than a kidnap+rape thing and we might get the reveal from him instead. Something like "oh Rhaegar wouldn't have eloped with anyone unless she was pregnant and he had no choice, he was a good kid".

Also the casting info calls for a bunch of boys that is probably a flashback to young Ned and Robert and LF, or it could be LF+Brandon and Ned, so there's definitely more flashbacks in s6.

Well, his (presumably) voluntary confession may have earned him some relief, and did he actually confess to his part in Robert's death?

Also that plot seems really fucking stupid in retrospect. I'm gonna fuck my cousin to get him to get my husband really drunk so that maybe he does something reckless while he's out hunting and suffers a mortal wound.

I assume because he repented and confessed. Generally the big punishments come from when you deny deny deny.

So why is Lancel not in chains since he is a sinner? He fucked Cersci and killed the King
The dude gave up his mortal wealth, carved a seven pointed star in his forehead and is dedicating his life to poverty and crashing parties. I'd say he's being punished enough. The big question is what's going on with Olyvar and why he isn't in chains.

It doesn't seem like the Sparrows hand out death sentences for buggery or infidelity or prostitution. Most of the sparrows are former prostitutes or veterans who raped their way across the continent anyway. Olyvar seems like he got a couple lashings and was released on time served. Plus Olyvar looks like the type to cooperate on getting their entire clientele arrested anyway, not just Loras and Margaery.

Question is why isn't LF arrested for renting out half the available orifices in the city.

The impression I always got was that Cersei's tendency for "keeping it in the family" was a warped combination of her hatred of Robert and Tywin's constant harping on the fortunes of House Lannister being all that truly mattered. She bedded Lancel primarily to cuckold Robert by his own cupbearer and because Jaime was captured, not necessarily as a means to an end. Ned forced her hand to action and Lancel was just the most convenient option at that point.
