That would be quite a big change. How would Jon be rezzed in the show then?
Good question, but that's a problem we are already facing with Mel not being at Winterfell like she should be. I agree with mad, he either wont die in the show, or he gets stabbed and cut to black, or he gets rezzed in a novel way we haven't considered realistic until now.

I'd be surprised if Stannis just dies in battle at Winterfell. GRRM has a perverse sense of proportionality and after giving up so much for his fundamentalist religion, GRRM must have something much more pedantic in mind for Stannis.

I'm thinking Davos or Selyse finishes Stannis off after his mercenaries desert him or something really horrid.
Agreed. I don't see Stannis dying in the upcoming battle after this huge character development piece with him. If he did die, who would replace him in uniting the North/Westeros? Outside of rush shit with Dany arriving.

After he gets killed in the show by Brienne and Winterfell is won from the Boltons, obviously Sansa will start running shit and she'll reveal that her two brothers still live and Winter is Coming for everyone, as she replaces her vengeful mother's role in the books.

Maybe Jon just gets stabbed and recovers normally, both in the show and the books.

My guess is that they won't actually kill Jon in the show.
If everyone's theories about Jon being a Targaryen and going on to some overall leadership role then he has to die to be released from his vows to the Night's Watch. I have always assumed it would go like"

"Ooops, Jon's dead, and now his watch has ended!"

"Whoa, the ginger with the nice tits just brought him back to life!"

"Well I guess he's free to go now, off on a technicality."

With only one episode left though, and Cercei's walk of shame still to go next week I think it's likely he won't get stabbed until early next season, especially since Melisandre isn't there to rez him.

Yeah he wears a lot of clothes and it appears its just gonna be a little kid stabbing him, probably with a knife rather than sword.

Also The Others are officially the good guys.

I think he needs to get stabbed next week because a one week cliffhanger next season wont do the moment justice. People need to wonder if Snoo is dead for the entire off season.

Walk of shame is going to be about 1/2 the episode- some build up and boom... then a touch on WTF happened to Tyrion and crew (I do have to say I thought Dany's to be hubby was behind it...but he seems quite dead now) and umm is anyone going to let the other 2 dragons out? - and then finish up with some Stannis wtfness- and end with The Jonshanke Redemption season cliffhanger.

I don't know why people think it's just going to be only him doing the stabbing. He even noted to Sam that everyone else looking at the wildlings walking through Castle Black would "never forget his actions, either"

do non book readers have any reason to suspect jon is azor or even who azor is? i mean when olly stops eyefucking jon and gets down to actually stabbing him and headnodding, will the non book readers expect him to come back from the dead? and if he is rezzed will it make sense for them?

Arrow through the throat delivered by Olly. He killed Ygritte with his bow. It would be fitting for Jon to go out the same way.

Wasn't Wun Wun involved in it in the books? I know there was a fight at Castle Black with him but for the life of me I can't remember the specifics.

That scene was necessary to add weight to what happened last night.

If when Melisandre first approached Stannis and said "Hey, let's sacrifice your daughter" and Stannis turned around and said "LOL, why didn't you say so earlier???" then he's a soulless monster. Not a single viewer of the show would want him to win. Fuck, most people would be rooting for the Boltons at that point.

But the situation at that time didn't call for desperation. Stannis still had a fighting chance when Melisandre first approached him.

Buuuuuut the entire first 10 minutes of this episode were used to build up just how wildly hopeless Stannis' position was. He was already fucked to begin with, between the weather, the desertion, and the dwindling supplies, and then Ramsay's infiltration just made things 100x worse by destroying of Stannis' food and siege weapons.

Ultimately his choice became either sacrifice his daughter or abandon everything.

He's still a soulless monster, but at least he was shown to be conflicted by the situation. Some would call his decision Machiavellian, some would call it unforgivably cruel, but when the choice is either to have one person die, or have everyone die, he made the decision that may ultimately save the most lives.
And yet, it's all on the hunch that maybe his witch and her god will save him somehow. If it ends up that she's blowing smoke up his ass and it's all parlor tricks, what then?

I guess you could still argue that she'd probably die anyway (either from the snow or in war), but that'd likely be more pleasant than burning alive.

Wun Wun was guarding Val, and Ser Patrek went to claim her after Selyse offers her to him in marraige. Wun Wun gets pissed and tears Ser PAtrek apart, Jon had just finished reading the red letter and runs out to the commotion, and then the knives come out.

And Ghost was locked up because of Wun Wun right?

Thats one annoying thing in the show... we never see Ghost. Ghost should be Jon's constant companion. I remember in the books all the NW feared Jon because of Ghost.

I don't think there are any parlor tricks or ass smoke blowing going on.
