Hmmm ... not exactly how I would have pictured a young Ned Stark.

Young Ned cast, sources report!

Doesn't look far from a ~13 year old Ned Stark. I wonder what scene they'll have him be in. I'm betting that SEan Bean could do the tower of joy scene np.

Them casting twins is probably for child-actor reasons, but could re-ignite the very silly meera reed = jon snow's sister theories!!

I dunno. He looks more like someone Peter Jackson would cast as Frodo if he were making LotR today. SB has a stronger jaw and chin. I agree he could probably do ToJ just fine with a little makeup and maybe some CGI.

"The boy would be sparring with an older child in their scene."

Seems pretty obvious that means it's Bran's weirwood vision where he sees a boy and girl sparring in front of the tree.

IIRC, it was meant to be Lyanna and BenJen, but they could easily sub Ned for BenJen, then use it as a mechanism to introduce Lyanna without really affecting the story.

It seems they'veupdatedthe casting call for the role that everyone suspects is Ser Arthur Dayne:

Legendary Swordfighter

Male, 30-35 years old
This heroic handsome figure is a legendary sword fighter and we want someone who looks heroic and like a fierce and efficient experienced fighter. We need a muscular physique and heroic look. He really does have to have physical impact. The flamboyant aspects of the fighting will be taken over by a stunt fighter but we need someone who looks like they can take care of themselves.
Appears in one episode and has a couple of lines but the fight scene in which he appears is massive and memorable.
Shoot dates are week commencing 28th September in Northern Ireland
Because the shoot is in Ireland and not at that tower in Spain they may be altering the scene to happen inside of the Tower of Joy.

It'd make sense, the tower they're using is a lot more than just a singular tower like most illustrations.

Nowhere is it confirmed that it's either Lyanna or Benjen, that's just fan speculation. Eddard is just as likely in the scenario and it would be a simple change for the TV show to implement.

Or perhaps the tourney at Harrenhal.
I don't think anyone would describe tournament jousting as either 'massive' or 'memorable'

ran across this crackpot theory and i thought it was pretty funny so i feel like sharing.
I think plenty of people think Stannis is probably still alive. Her cutting off his leg because he's bleeding from it makes 0 sense unless she's going to fucking cauterize his stump after.

I'm open to the idea of Stannis being alive, only because when interviewed the director was like 'no no hes dead, we just thought showing it would be gratuitous'. In a series overflowing with gratuitous violence.

In an episode where Arya fucking murdelates the shit out of Meryn fucking Trant.

I mean, I guess there's a flipside, in that Arya's murder already pushed the gore level past gratuitous so they didn't want to have another.
