I'm actually gonna be pissed off with this show if Stannis is alive. That's some Soap Opera level bullshit right there if they try to pull it.

I was Team Stannis up until the episode where Necromonger Icyhot eye-raped Jon Snow, and then promptly switched to team Necrom because Team Necrom is fucking awesome -- and I like Stannis about the most of any of the Usurpers. But c'mon now. Not only would him being alive ruin Stannis, it would ruin Brienne too.

To keep John Snow's status as 'Azor Ahai' in question maybe? To give Stannis a cool vengeance scene against Melisandre? Maybe she sacrifices him to Rez John? *shrug*

I think he's alive. They wouldn't have missed the opportunity to show a beheading like that.

It kinda closes an arc for brienne in the show. She gets to keep her oath to King Bighorn the Fey. It does show Stannis going out like a chump, though. But there's a nobility to his defeat as well in "Go on then. Do your duty."

I mean it's still super-dumb. She just wanders onto the battlefield -- no blood on her, in full armor -- at the exact precise right moment to get Stannis right as he's bleeding out from a femoral wound. And nobody noticed her. And they didn't surround and capture Stannis with that 5x bigger force they had. I mean they had horses and they had bows and no one engages in the first pitch with the entirety of their force. Just surround him and start shooting at his knees if he won't yield. And and and just SUPER dumb. But at least there's a (show) character validation to it.

If he's still alive it really is just complete garbage with no redeeming quality or merit beyond "this would look cool!"

I have no idea how or why Brienne would take him back to the Wall, but seeing Stannis burn as a sacrifice to the Lord of Light would be amazing and I would totally be ok with him still being alive if it was so that could happen.

Felt that way too. Would have been dumb to watch her cleave his head off, wasn't needed. The man lost.
