Too many story lines at this point and we're still going to get the Ironborn shoehorned in. A lot happened in this episode without anything really happening. Hopefully they start focusing on a few things and not having each show be a dozen 5 minute vignettes.

greyscale is leprosy, it's not really that contagious, but people in this time period don't exactly have science and don't know shit and just assume it is. some people catch it by a single touch some never do.

I love the show, but it is "wtf plot hole" stuff like that or the vanishing dogs which makes me hope they don't artificially stretch out the run for the sake of it, because things like that become more prevalent.
More like they're cramming too much into too few episodes, combined with slashing half the editing budget to pay for the renewed actor's salaries. I would hope this isn't the norm, they've already increased funding for a season from 60mil to 100mil to cover the renegotiated salaries and bigger scenes, hope they aren't also cutting other things like editing or cgi or anything.

Also the production runs are taking longer and longer. The reason they are going to finish with 7 and 6 episode seasons is that they don't have the time to film a full 10 and continue to go bigger each season.

All the Areo Hotah butthurt is funny. He was a non-factor on the show. Nobody would have any clue who Areo Hotah even was if you asked them. I hope the entire Dorne story dies.
I think that is the main reason for the butthurt. I would be interested to hear what kind of mental gymnastics fanboys will use to explain how the two sand snakes wound up on the ship in KL when all of them are waving it away back in Dorne.

It's like, once Pedro(oberyn) was gone, Dorne went to shit storywise and quality wise.

If they wanted to change shit, they shoulda dragged out Oberyn's role to at least 2 seasons. Now Dorne is some boring bitch story trying to tie up loose ends. Plus it's all sand, no one cares about sand ppl, look at Yunkai and Meereen, who cares about that shit.

I liked it, about time something worked out for Sansa and I always thought Davos was a great character so I'm excited he may be more of a featured character.

I don't know why you're all bitching up a storm about Dorne. They will obviously ally themselves with the Boltons to bolster the coming war. I'm interseted in seeing what the sand snakes and their short-sighted ambitions will do. Obviously first things first is declare war on the Lannisters/King's Landing. Will that giant war make it so Cersei & Co will take back King's Landing via a military coup over the Sparrow? Will it make it so Highgarden assumes control of King's Landing? With Ramsey's odd and often times misogonistic views how will a lasting relationship between Dorne and the Boltons endure when he meets a group of women who take less shit than he does?

If I had to take a stab at the storyline going forward it would be: North v South. Walkers breach the wall due to the Watch being in disarray. NvS realize they need to band together to fight this threat under a loose alliance. Army of men get slaughtered and Dany comes in with her dragons and conquers the land. But that is also kind of the "obvious" choice so I doubt it will work out that way.

However, the episode was 'meh' to me, for sure. No cliffhangers from the end of last season were really resolved, cept maybe Sansa's (finally some good news for the poor girl). I dislike when they try to do a bit of story for every ongoing thread in the same episode, we don't get much progress for any one of them then. I prefer when they focus more on just a few of the ongoing threads. But, for the first episode, I suppose they need to remind us of what's going on with everyone.
That is my biggest complaint about the first episode. So many stories to follow, its a little annoying you only get 5 minutes with each one.

Tenks, Dorne allying with Boltons? The hell you smoking? The North/Boltons is pretty self-contained as far as what is going on, Dorne doesn't give a fuck about the North.

Cersei will further the divide between the Tyrells and her son. Along with dealing with the Sparrows. Dorne's focus will just be the Lannisters because some bitches somehow got the entirety of Dorne to support them in killing off the entire legitimate line of their "beloved" Martel family in order to avenge the slights against the Martel family.

The definitely tried to mash too much shit into this first episode, much of it coming off lazy. I still enjoyed the episode and, as usual, the hour flew by. Hope it tightens up, though.
That's really my biggest concern going forward - regardless of plot holes, Dorne retardation etc last night - the writing/story telling didn't seem very tight (some of the character dialogue in particular was eye-roll worthy). I'm sure some of that is the rush to start tying up loose ends to finish within the frame allotted by HBO - but I can't help but think some of it (maybe a lot of it) is they don't have GRRM's writing to fall back on. I get it, everyone hates him for being a fat dip-shit or whatever, but drawing off his writing, particularly characters lines etc has to be super helpful - when you don't have that anymore, you get scenes that were literally created by tv writers - their only goal now is to follow the outline set out by GRRM. Not saying they can't do it, I hope and think they can - but if last night was any indication, it's going to be a bumpy ride.

Enemy of enemy and all that. Roose even said this episode there is a coming battle with the Lannisters. I doubt the sand snakes are so utterly retarded to think they can take on the alliance at King's Landing single handedly.

My biggest gripe with the direction, and it has been this way a few seasons now, is that almost every scene is predicated by an interaction between two characters. There isn't very much individual character building it is just "What happens when we pair X with Y?"

I thought that was more rhetorical because Ramsay thought highly of himself for winning against a drastically inferior force. I seem to recalle Littlefinger and Cersei saying something about fighting the Boltons last season... but that doesn't seem right. Correct me if I am wrong?

What reason does the Crown have to fight the Boltons again?

That Dothraki exchange was one of the funniest moments in the entire series. What ya'll smokin'? Felt like a nod to Conan.

I can't recall but Roose said he rebelled against the crown to secure the North. But I actually can't recall his rebellion. I thought the crown gave him the North for killing Robb but I could easily be misremembering.

Having Ramsay marry Sansa instead of turning her over to Cersei. She's still considered a conspirator with Tyrion in the death of Joffrey.
