Yes.Isn't the significance of the necklace just speculation at this point?
The real crime is they wasted that fantastic line, It could have been easily fit into an ending for him where he says the line then gets stabbed; then attacker spouts something along the lines of not caring and wanting vengance NOW! That would have worked infinitely better than the scene they had.Dorne plot was stupid...
Not because Doran died, it's a logical move given in the book Aegon looks like he'll be a dud, and his son already struck out. So cutting Doran out was expected, because he's probably going to get toasted in the books. But god damn, they just shit on his character completely. Why get such a great actor and even invest any time into him? That whole plot felt like it could have been much more athletic without him...I suppose they need the Sand Snakes since they are all over in the book, but the whole Doran thing was a waste. In fact, Dorne itself was a damn waste, it should have just been the Sand Snake story line in KL.
The most epic speech...
"I am not blind, nor deaf. I know that you all believe me weak, frightened, feeble. Your father knew me better. Oberyn was ever the viper. Deadly, dangerous, unpredictable. No man dared tread on him. I was the grass. Pleasant, complaisant, sweet-smelling, swaying with every breeze. Who fears to walk upon the grass? But it is the grass that hides the viper from his enemies and shelters him until he strikes. Your father and I worked more closely than you know . but now he is gone. The question is, can I trust his daughters to serve me in his place?"
Gone. Would it have really been that hard, ifyou were going to have him, to have him die within the process of some machination rather than simply looking like the weak man the idiot Sand Snakes thought he was? They could have easily still made him a deeper character while making the Sand Snakes win. Or, as said, simply not have him at all, the whole Dorne plot should have been contained to the Sand Snakes, off Mycella back in KL through a Sand Snake plot there. Why go to Dorne?
That's just it though in GOT the more obviously bad ass you are the more horrible your death, he just bumbles along and comes out on top constantly.Really because it looked to me he almost got owned by 1 dude 1v1 while what's her name killed the rest... and that fight was actually quite well done, it felt real to me... no one looked like a super soldier slaughtering peons dynasty warrior style.
I think the screenshot proves that the necklace (or ruby) has no significance. It's simply an aura that she drops when she wants to go to bed.Isn't the significance of the necklace just speculation at this point?
Uh he was mad because his sister and her children were killed, very very very mad.Yea, but non-book readers had no idea who Oberyn was or why he was so worked up about some bitch the Mountain killed. A lot of these plots on the show don't make the same kind of sense to non-book readers because they don't have the background. Oberyn could have just been "a guy" and probably really was just "a guy" to show-only people. It was probably explained tangentially once why he's upset and then not addressed again.
Yeah if the choker was required she would have been caught by now. It just seems like she can raise/lower the spell when she wants.I think the screenshot proves that the necklace (or ruby) has no significance. It's simply an aura that she drops when she wants to go to bed.
Yup. They needed a few more minutes of screen time. Make sure the viewers know that they are hard core no nonsense badasses, and then have them rattle off the their answers. Simple as that. So many better ways to have done that scene. That scene was so close to being hysterical, but it tripped and fell flat. I think the actors were playing it right, the bloodriders weren't actually making fun of their Khal, they were answering his question so literally that it bordered on autism. It's the kind of scene that probably would have been pretty damn funny if we'd actually been more familiar with Moro and his bloodriders, instead of having only met them 60 seconds ago. I think they could have salvaged that scene by doing more to play up Moro's irritation at their answers, maybe even have them interrupting him or something. Then the 'it is among the 5 greatest things' line he used to shut them up would have worked a lot better.
For book readers I think the pre-Robert Baratheon timeline is pretty clear, and the names are known and such; for people who just watch the show week to week, don't read about the show or "study" the backstory, those clues given as to the whole story would be scattered across all the seasons. I know they did say why Oberyn is mad and all, but I think the significance is mainly lost and Oberyn becomes "crazy guy willing to fight the Mountain to save Tyrion" because everyone loves Tyrion. Which is fine, it's just they could have randomly introduced Oberyn and still gotten there without doing Dorne at all for now. It turns out most of the Dorne subplot was a complete waste. Could have just had Oberyn only with no Dorne scenes, and now introduced the Sand Snakes, showed them upset about Oberyn, mad their leader does nothing, they take control and do XYZ and saved a bunch of time they could have spent on non-lulzy scenes from Dorne last season.Uh he was mad because his sister and her children were killed, very very very mad.
The TV show explained what went down very well. She was married to Rhaegar and when the Targaryens were overthrown she was killed by the Mountain on orders from Tywin Lanister.
