No, he really isn't. Tyrion is Tywin's true son, which is probably part of why Tywin hated him so much. Jaime is absolutely on at least a partial redemption arc, because once upon a time he was clearly just a villain, and now he's someone you can actually sympathize with.

And he didn't do a thing to take that Castle aside from threaten Edmure. Now maybe he would have done everything he said, maybe he wouldn't, but threatening to do it is not the same as doing it. And Tywin damn sure wouldn't have given away a Valyrian steel sword, twice. I'm guessing that Jaime returns to the Kingsguard and Tyrion becomes the head of House Lannister, if they both survive.

Nope Tyrion proved he wasn't Tywins true son when he talked Danny out of burning the masters cities to the ground. I fully expect Bran to eventually drop in sometime in the future to tell both Jon and Tyrion that they're both Targaryens.

I like the theory that Cersei burns the sept and kills Tommen. Jaime comes home and chokes her out. Kevan will take control and stabilize everything. Last scene of the episode will be Kevan getting ready for bed, then Varys pops of out the closet with a crossbow.

Most likely all the firetraps are rigged to set all the other ones off in a chain reaction that Cersie wont understand. So she triggers one thinking it will burn one location but it takes out the whole city instead.

I'm tired of this damn show. Plot problems solved by deus-ex machina: mounted knightsx2, Brienne from space, Benjen Stark from space. Also, Sansa giving I-told-you-so-Jon-you-should-have-listened-to-me-look-at-me-cleaning-up-your-shit-face as the Knights of the Vale rolled in felt out of place for Sansa. It makes her look heroic but is an unrealistic emotion to be expressing in the moment. Please George, let the Night King win.

In the end the entire game of thrones will turn out to have been a plot by the Iron island bank to kill off the Dathraki in order to allow the cities of slavers bay to establish control over Dathraki land and begin large scale farming. Allowing Esteros to become the economic center of GoT world.

Tywin wouldn't have burned their cities to the ground either. It wouldn't have served any purpose, and he would have tried to talk Dany out of it in Tyrion's position as well. Ruthlessness is not necessarily villainy, but stupidity sure as hell can be. All those stupid justifications people were coming up with for why Cersei isn't a villain actually apply to both Olenna and Tywin pretty well. They both did some nasty shit to protect their families, but they didn't revel in it the way Cersei did.

Incidentally, while discussing the possibility of Jon marrying Dany with a friend of mine, I found out that first cousins aren't considered incest in Westeros, and that Tywin married his first cousin. This makes Tyrion, Jaime, and Cersei second cousins as well as siblings, while Tommen, Myrcella, and Joffrey were siblings, first cousins, AND third cousins.

This is a dumb argument. Solving one administrative problem in a way Tywin would have (Riverrun Siege) does not make Jaime good at playing the game. Which is what Tywin is respected for. Tyrion is equally as good as playing the game as Tywin. This is why he is Tywin's son.

Jaime is just becoming a little more flexible since he is not as effective a fighter as he used to be. If he was as good as Tywin he would see all of Cersei's plots for the stupid shit they usually are. Much like Tyrion does and takes steps against them.

I disagree Tyrion has now failed completely at the game by his total failure in Mareen. He has shown he simply doesn't have the will to be King. Jamie on the otherhand is emerging as a player in the game finally and is willing to do whatever it takes to win. Cersie like Tyrion has completely failed at the game and will likely be dead soon.

Once Cersie is gone Jamie's actions will be entirely based upon his own desires. The death of his children has hardened him and vengeance upon those who killed them are created the situations that led up to there deaths will likely be a part of his desires.

Tywin never wanted ether Tyrion or Cersie as the leader of house Lannister. He always had faith in Jamie and not the other two. My view is well soon see why.

By what standard did Tyrion fail in Meereen? He bought them the time they needed to survive. Sounds like success to me. Tywin didn't have faith in Jaime, Jaime was just his firstborn son and he hated Tyrion, which is why he tried to get Jaime to leave the Kingsguard.

He had a enemy army at the gate and grey wurm admitted they lacked the ability to defend the city.

How was that not a complete failure?

Tywin had two children lusting for the game and he chose nether of them. He put his faith in the child who seemed to have no interest in the game at all who ran away to the kings guard in order to avoid being part of it. Even after that he still rejected his other children and did everything he could to force Jamie into the position. Tywin wasn't stupid enough to just say well he is my first born and even though he doesn't want it im going make him do it anyway just because he is my first born. He put his faith in Jamie because he believed he was going to be better at it then ether Cersie are Tyrion.

He was in charge it was his job by the fact he claimed the mantle of leadership in her absence. He made the peace deal with the master that failed instead of reinforcing the cities defenses once he knew the masters were behind the sons of the harpy.

At no point can any action taken by Tyrion in the running of Mareen not be considered as a failure.
