I enjoyed it. Noticed two people from The Wire in it. The beat cop at the murder scene was the criminal lawyer, and Falcone was Rawls.

I'm pretty sure they don't have the rights to the Joker, so don't expect to actually see the Joker as a character in the show. I vaguely remember that being mentioned somewhere.

Anyway, I have to admit I was wrong in my prediction about the show. I believe I posted earlier in this thread in response to the trailer that it looked like shit, but I really enjoyed the first episode.

Was better than I expected, but not by much.

Riddler and Penguin stood out as good, only criticism of Penguin I've got is he's too thin and tall to be entirely pathetic like his character is. Don't know what they're doing with Selena Kyle, I found it annoying and almost fantasy-like seeing her climbing all around where she was, especially at Wayne Manor. Sean Pertwee's an awesome actor and the rare type that can play both really good guys and creepy bad guys, all without changing his voice at that. My major issue with the characters is Bullock and that's because I remember him from the Animated Series as maybe not that bright and a disgusting asshole but a straight arrow when it came to his moral compass and job - in fact that was why he hated Batman so much, he loathed a vigilante running around when it was his place to keep law and order.

I'm forgiving of the rushed pace of the ep, they had a lot of ground to cover and it showed by not staying long in any scene. The scenes with the wife were the worst with this. A better crew could have made that rushed feeling disappear, but this show isn't under the helm of anyone like that, but it's ok. The one thing that I absolutely hate is the much, it's entirely too epic for what's going on on screen and it kept breaking my suspension of disbelief. If they could have just toned it down it wouldn't have kept reminding me of what quality show I was watching.

DC does, but do the showrunners? Maybe "rights" wasn't the best word to use. They've got Gotham, Constantine, Flash, and Arrow now, and I think all of them are limited in what characters they're allowed to use. I know they've mentioned the possibility, but I can't see them doing it anytime soon, if at all, since it's such an iconic character that I think they'd rather leave for movies.

This shot during the chase scene definitely broke my suspension of disbelief, spoilered for seizure quality.

Bruno Heller mentioned in an interview a few months ago he has the joker included in the deal but prefers to take it slow since they have already introduced a ton of villains. Besides I don't think Warner's cares if they use Joker, they keep tv/movies on seperate to some degree. Warner tv is shopping a Supergirl tv show And it looks like CBS may pick it up.

I just started watching this. Haven't read a single post about it since it aired. My first opinion... It's that damn lawyer, Maury Levy from The Wire!

EDIT: Fuck, also Acting Commissioner Rawls from The Wire. This show is going to be good. First episode kept my attention. I dig.

i really hate the concept of supergirl. it negates superman's uniqueness and she only exists to fulfill horny nerd fantasies about chicks flying into your bed. they dont need her. they got wonder woman who is practically a goddess and is fucking hot. i saw the supergirl flick when i was 15 or so, it sucked then and it sucks now.

You shut your dirty mouth! There's no reason we can't have them both!

alright alright, supergirl is a fine franchise for the porn industry, but you keep her off of TV and theatrical films!

He fucked up the Mentalist by mishandling Red John. He's going to be super cautious in how he handles Batman's biggest rogue after that.

I liked the pilot but the Mrs and I both agree on the horrible choice of shots/technique that Neph mentioned up there.

My concern is that if the Bruce in this incarnation is say 10-12? (I am not a good judge of that from the screen time), They're setting up for almost every one of his rogues gallery to be a solid 10-20 years older than him (i.e. Penguin and Riddler). I don't know how much I am down with that...

Most of his rogues gallery is 10-20. He is generally 28-30. dent is the only one around his age

I'm not concerned about the villains being 10-20 years older than Bruce as I don't think they are intended for him...he'll never be batman in Gotham, he'll never fight crime. If anything they are meant for Gordon, probably in a version before they become their iconic version. It's fun though.
