Like I said. I like Sean. I also know a fucking lot of people in his shoes and have been there myself. Dude needs friends and family to stop enabling him and push him to try to accomplish something. If you have a serious mental illness that makes you afraid of being in public or social anxiety, whatever, the cure isn't to fucking placate that by letting someone lock themselves away in fantasy land all day long until they die. FFS what has our society come to that that's acceptable?

Take them out and show them there's nothing to be afraid of, even if it takes some effort. Fuck.

And that's fine, but it is something other people think about when they're having a conversation with Sean and he's calling them bads and saying they're dumb because they don't know the RPMs on their console's hard drive or whatever the fuck that retarded argument was about.

All I'm saying is that the attitude that it should be totally verboten reeks of enabling, and enabling is exactly what Sean doesn't need in his life. If the internet is that important to him, then that means these relationships are important to him, and we shouldn't be enabling him if that is the case. One of the bad effects of being a housebound loser is that people call you a house bound loser. I know because I've been there. Its a good thing, in the end, because it tends to light a fire under people's asses to improve themselves.

Sean could at least be taking free online courses through his community college for programming. Then he could try to get a internet based job of some sort with that type of training. Then he wouldn't have to live exclusively on his limited disability checks, and people wouldn't be able to mock him for having no ambition or trying to achieve anything in his life.

All while still working within the confines of his condition.

This shit's a bit personal to me, again, I squandered my 20s, willingly admit it and will happily let people make fun of me for it if they wish, because I earned that mockery. I fucked up. And the only way to fix it is to face it. If you can't face it yourself, its your communities' responsibility to bring it to your face and force you to confront it.

I've got friends who ended up literally in the gutter over this shit. Once I'm out of the rickshaw I'll post a picture of one of them, and you'll see why this shit bothers me, personally, and makes me want to help him and intervene somehow.

This is what happens when you enable good friends to fuck their lives up forever.
