It definitely fucks with my heart. I can't run or jog or raise my blood pressure/heart rate at all on that shit. It freaks me out and a time or two I thought I was having a heart attack, so yeah. Its definitely a shitty drug.

As a fellow older-guy-doing-college-and-trying-desperately-not-to-check-out-smoking-hot-18-year-olds-all-day bro, I have to tell you, I would totally use that advantage. It isn't like you aren't already working your ass off. I look around my classes and I know, for a fact, I am working harder than almost every one of these kids. I would do it.

Sean does indeed get a free pass. And look what it does to him. Have pity on the free pass, bros.

Outside may be where we ply our trade, but prison is where we hone our craft.

Look at piccasso's thread. It's a beautiful thing. Smells like dirty socks and man-ass, but a beautiful thing.

I'd only resort to it if your grades start to slip.

And that's not to be all RAAAR MAN DRUGZ FOR PUSSIES. It's a self discipline is all.

But if the grades start to slip because you're legit stupid? You're god damn right. Never be above admitting that.

Eh I get more Bs now than I did at the CC but I'm also tackling a lot more material I've never touched before, calculus, chemistry, what have you.

Go 30 years without touching that stuff, pick it up, and try to compete with kids who've been doing calculus since the middle of high school and algebra for going on 8 years, your grades are gonna slip a little.

I still don't have a single C on my transcript though.

B's are the Worldly Gentleman's A's. I got mostly B's myself. Partly because I had other shit to do, partly because I didn't anticipate the minutia of the subject to be useful, partly because fuck it -- all I needed was a B. I'm wasn't planning to go to med school over here. When it starts slipping into C territory is when you're starting to waste your time and money.

Yeah that's basically how I feel about it.

I don't wanna be a doctor, so its not super important to get straight As.

I'm going for straight As because I have to apply to the accelerated MS program next semester and I want my transcript to look sick as fuck. So it isn't the end of the world, but I kind of get upset over a low A, and my wife just rolls her eyes at me. But it is important at least right now.

Hey, whatever motivates you is what is important. I pushed myself for straight A's so it was challenging and kept me interested.

When you're in the bio/chem program at UK, you're basically competing with the pre med program kids.

Its just not worth the extra effort if you aren't pre med. Its like all the weed out classes and shit, you know? If you try for straight A's in that shit without prepping for it for years, you're going to have a lot of stress.

I'll apply at UK for my masters and it'll be probably in the chemistry program. Think the national average in Chem majors is a 2.78, and I'll have over a 3.0 and probably closer to a 3.5 in just that one major, so I'm hoping that'll be enough. Plus I"m talking about getting into some research soon too, if they can hook me up with a mentor at the school.

My wife, though, she picked the best field. Agriculture Biotech. Our university has some much ag money coming in because lol Kentucky. Its stupid. She could have a 2.0 and they'll take her for a masters and pay for her to get the degree. Then hire her afterwards.

http://www.cbsnews.com/8301-505145_1...ajors-by-gpas/

5 Lowest Grade Point Averages

Chemistry - 2.78 GPA
Math - 2.90 GPA
Economics - 2.95 GPA
Psychology - 2.98 GPA
Biology - 3.02 GPA
5 Highest Grade Point Averages

Education - 3.36 GPA
Language - 3.34 GPA
English - 3.33 GPA
Music - 3.30 GPA
Religion - 3.22 GPA

In my Anthropology major I still have and probably always will a 3.8 or better. Each major has a different GPA associated with it, so it gets kinda funky with 3 majors.

Really, I don't think anyone can doubt I'm intelligent to do the work if I can get the Bachelor's in all three areas, not many people achieve that. I'm hoping that helps me stand out a bit above the crowd. No, my focus isn't very narrow yet (have a masters and doctorate hopefully to narrow down my interests with) but the fact that I held it all together after going so long without doing any schooling, and across 3 subjects (even though I think they're all very closely related others don't) I think will have to help me out considerably when I go to get into the masters program.

You are right that straight A's don't really matter. One thing that might matter though is maintaining a B or higher as far as TA or RA work at your university. You have that covered easily though if you have never gotten a C.

hodj all that undergrad talk is good and all but I'm gonna need an explanation on that extrinsic calibration.

Also, as far as dual majors and shit, I think that stuff is huge if you decide to go into research. Being able to write papers that are understandable across disciplines and coming up with research projects in the same way is great. I regret not following up on my physics undergrad classes that I took.

Man that shit looks fucking amazing. Is it for GIS systems? We used some global imaging techniques when I did field school to help scout the building we were excavating and whatnot, but I haven't had a class in it yet to know heads from tails of it.

What is your field of work? Engineering?

I got that from reading up on it too, but it seemed the system you were talking about was a way to use radar to determine like positioning and everything, so the first thing I thought of was global imaging systems. Its the closest experience I have to that stuff. Its one of those highly technical things that if you aren't trained in, you're just not going to comprehend fullly.
