So I want to float an idea to you guys, would anyone be interested in having me sharpen their knives for them? I don't want cash for this at all, you pay for shipping (and insurance) both ways of 3 kitchen knives max (no folding/tactical)(no scissors)
reasons?
1. you guys get a nice sharp knife and see what you're missing out on.
2. it's free you pay for shipping really, i do the grunt work
mine?
1. Does it sound wrong for me to say I'd like you guys to see what a nice sharp knife is like? give back?
2. In a way it relaxes me (i can't sharpen mine over and over), and at the end of the day i feel good about putting on a good edge. Some ppl knit, some do woodworking.
3. I get to take pics, familiarize myself with different knives
Here's my travel setup when i visit ppl this is what i take
In the sink i have an assortment of dmt stones on the left, i have a 6k and 10k whetstone naniwa, a friend is keeping my other lower grit stones so i have a 250/1k king on the way.
I use the whetstones on the wooden bridge, cost 5bucks, a bit of liner foam on and it doesn't move and provides a nice stable surface.
The dmt stones and other thin stones i use either on the dmt mount or i use them on the edge pro clone on the right. I've modified it with earth magents so even a cleaver will stick to and not fall off. I'd also use it to set the angle with the angle tool next to it, or i can set it with a digi caliper(thats in toolbox).
And if a knife is really bad with horrible nicks and i have to take off lots of metal, i use the worksharp on top.
also not shown assortment of leather strops/compounds i use daily.
Thoughts? I don't want money for this again, So i hope thats not an issue, if it is, maybe we get an admin involved too, I just consider myself a hobbyist, not a pro.
