Today's masterpiece. Chocolate peanut butter swirl cheesecake. It'll be ready to eat tomorrow. Who wants some?

Actually upon further review sharing would be a bad idea. I made it for a bunch of pregnant women and they would probably murder me if I touched it before they could get to it. If there's one thing I fear in life it's the wrath of a group of preggers.

I'd eat the ass out of that cheesecake. It might kill me, but who cares.

As a side note, I was shopping a few days ago, and beef chuck roast was $7.19/afuckinglb. WTF.

So I want to float an idea to you guys, would anyone be interested in having me sharpen their knives for them? I don't want cash for this at all, you pay for shipping (and insurance) both ways of 3 kitchen knives max (no folding/tactical)(no scissors)

reasons?
1. you guys get a nice sharp knife and see what you're missing out on.
2. it's free you pay for shipping really, i do the grunt work

mine?
1. Does it sound wrong for me to say I'd like you guys to see what a nice sharp knife is like? give back?
2. In a way it relaxes me (i can't sharpen mine over and over), and at the end of the day i feel good about putting on a good edge. Some ppl knit, some do woodworking.
3. I get to take pics, familiarize myself with different knives

Here's my travel setup when i visit ppl this is what i take
rrr_img_88683.jpg

In the sink i have an assortment of dmt stones on the left, i have a 6k and 10k whetstone naniwa, a friend is keeping my other lower grit stones so i have a 250/1k king on the way.
I use the whetstones on the wooden bridge, cost 5bucks, a bit of liner foam on and it doesn't move and provides a nice stable surface.
The dmt stones and other thin stones i use either on the dmt mount or i use them on the edge pro clone on the right. I've modified it with earth magents so even a cleaver will stick to and not fall off. I'd also use it to set the angle with the angle tool next to it, or i can set it with a digi caliper(thats in toolbox).

And if a knife is really bad with horrible nicks and i have to take off lots of metal, i use the worksharp on top.

also not shown assortment of leather strops/compounds i use daily.

Thoughts? I don't want money for this again, So i hope thats not an issue, if it is, maybe we get an admin involved too, I just consider myself a hobbyist, not a pro.

Been out of this thread for awhile but am making the carnitas tomorrow. I was going to follow the recipe unless you guys have some variations that worked better that I can't remember...

I would send you some knives! If I had any knives worth sharpening... I doubt you want to get 3 nameless knives that cost 80 for an entire set at BB&B. lol

Cutco knives are commonly sold by college students, and I don't think it's a pyramid scheme, more so they get commission. My mother just always bought them straight from Cutco.

I was at the grocery store on Wednesday, was thinking about picking up some steaks as its supposed to be nice this weekend, grilling weather.

KC Strips were 13.99/lb and Ribeye was $14.99/lb. W-T-F? I can usually find one or the other on special for $9.99(sometimes as low as $8.99) or so. No dice this time around, that shit's ridiculous.

Really up to you guys if you want to send in whatever, as long as you steel the knife every other week (i'd recommend every other use or just right b4 you put it back in the knife holder) and use it on a decent wood/soft plastic surface (non ceramic/glass/marble/steel etc) the edge should last a year.

Just send me a PM, i really only want you to send the knives wrapped in cardboard (so they don't get damaged), shipped in a decent box (i'm going to reuse the box) with a prepaid return label from UPS(has to be UPS only, b/c the drop off box is half a block away!), and you know stuff the box with yesterdays newspaper.

As much as I like selling calves for as high as they are now, I know a lot of people are making this choice based on their pocketbooks. 2013 was our best year ever in terms of income and 2014 was 170% of 2013. That has to impact demand. It will come back down. Most people think it won't be for another year or so though. Part of the reason for the low supply is that ranchers down south are buying heifer calves to rebuild their herds and those are not going into the meat market so when those heifers start to produce that is going to cause a jump in supply and prices will come back down. That said, buy the steaks anyway. You know you want to!

I had thought that steak prices might actually come down. Here's my thinking, tell me if it's wrong:

People will be buying lesser cuts of beef and more hamburger, leaving an excess of premium cuts unsold. Retailers will have to lower the price of premium cuts because of their surplus.

Monicas, I have a huge group coming over tonight. Everyone is bringing different kinds of beer, and I'm cooking home made spicy wedge fries, and I am making all the fixings for finely cut sirloin on home made bread (fried onions, tomatoes, home made spicy mayo, fried peppers, swiss cheese, 4 year aged cheddar, and plenty of pickles). Also have a huge coleslaw done.

Home made strawberry ice cream to go on soft home made biscuits for afters. Several types of whiskey to sample with dessert, too.

I'm excited.

You could be right. I really don't know jack about that end of the market.
