I think a whole subreddit dedicated to it will probably have more ideas, but yeah, I used to do this a ton. When I was single it just made sense economically and time wise. I'd make a week's worth of food, all meals, on Sunday and at most my prep during the week was 10min. You can even make huge batches ready of to scramble eggs. Put them in one of those big plastic dispenser bottles, melt butter in pan, sploosh in some eggs, cook, eat. The sheer number of things you can freeze literally ready to go in the oven or sous-vide is pretty insane as well. Cookies, pies and tarts of all kinds (fruit ones imo are actually better this way, as the punctured cells from freezing end up making the flavor better overall), I have half a dozen types of fish, pork loins, steaks, etc., that I prepped completely than froze. Put them in the sous-vide an extra hour to give them time to thaw and then cook, sear, eat. That part is easier for me since I work from home, I can just pop them in a couple of hours before the wife gets home and we can do the sides together.

There are honestly so many tricks for this and a lot of it comes down to what you eat, what you want your diet to be like, etc.
I have just started to look into that prepping enough lunch and dinners for a week every Sunday. Then cooking dinner for the night and lunch at the same time to take to work the next day.

I don't know about "that's not going to happen". Maybe not soon, but I don't see why it wouldn't be a possibility for the future.

I would assume that it happening or not anytime remotely soon will depend entirely on what kind of price point they are at.

If they come out and it's $10 a pound for their synthetic hamburger, I'm going to keep on eating real cow all day long. But If I can get synth Ribeyes for $3 a pound, sign me up!

Exactly. I eat meat because it's tasty. It has nothing to do with it being an animal or not. If they can synthesize the nutrition, taste, texture and make it cheaper, people will eventually be won over.

I can imagine us arguing 15 years from now calling people beef hipsters cause they prefer real cow.

It's like that insect meat, they grind up like billions of crickets into dust, cook it and it provides as much protein as meat... but the thought of it.

Let me know when you've tried REAL faux meat:The Herbivorous Butcher | The Herbivorous Butcher
They might want to try a frontpage image where their "meat" doesn't look like turds fresh from the toilet.

It's faux meat, it should look like a turd. Even the "jerky" from there looked like small shekel-sized turds. The Italian sausages weren't bad and didn't look so... turd-like once they were cooked.

If your want your mind blown, instead of lasagna noodles use raviolis for your noodle layer. I like using the frozen spinach and cheese raviolis from Costco. Ridiculously good and each serving of the lasagna is only like 10,000 calories

I even just put them in my layered lasagna frozen, right out of the freezer. By the time you cook your lasagna for an hour they're plenty hot & cooked. It's actually easier than using normal lasagna noodles, no noodles to pre-cook before layering the lasagna.

Just realize that it's going to make your lasagna like 50% taller/thicker than thin lasagna noodles, and plan on using an appropriate dish with decently tall sides.

Also, use 50% ground beef and 50% ground Italian sausage for your meat.

I found this pretty interesting

Announcing Memphis Meats, cultured meat and in vitro meat and laboratory grown meat company - The Good Food Institute

"We plan to do to the meat industry what the car did to the horse and buggy. Cultured meat will completely replace the status quo and make raising animals to eat them simply unthinkable."
Waiting to see how long it is before someone driving a pickup truck with a cattlemen's/beef council license plate drives through the front of their business, guns blazing
