What exactly are the complaints about the necro class? Iv'e heard complaints about bad synergy between weapons and of course the gw2 shitty pet problem. Reason I am asking is because I see good ones destroy in PVP and could single handed take down a zerg stack. Must be some more problems because they are quite rare, but I'm curious what your opinion of the problems are.

necros can be quite good when they build tanky and use epidemic. if you try and do anything else, lol. but im talking from a few months ago, im not sure what else has changed. but just looking at the forums, pages and pages of people complaining about the class. other class forums aren't like that. Nvm engineers have some complaining going on, but not quite like the necro QQfest.

I see they still haven't fixed plague signet... ugh.

Still haven't figured out why people who profess to hate the game so much spend so much time talking about it. I hated SW:TOR, and instead of spending day after day bitching about it in the thread, I made a single post outlining why I didn't enjoy the game and then stopped thinking about it. How can you be so obsessed with something you hated? Are you determined that everyone should hate it as much as you do?
Anyone that wasn't a deluded fanboy knew TOR would suck. I got tired of its beta at level 5.

Most people had more invested in GW2 so the backlash will be greater.

I think GW2 held the mantle of "last, great hope" to dethrone WoW, which is why it was so polarizing. There really aren't any MMOs on the horizon that look like they are going to be able to do so, which I think becomes very discouraging for a lot of folks.

I certainly wasnt expecting it to dethrone WoW or anything, but I sure did expect it to last more than 1 month in my rotation.

It really blows my mind at just how bad the recent MMO releases have been. I played EQ for 4-5 years solid, then moved on to FF11 for a year or so, then stayed in WoW for the good part of Vanilla - Wrath. Each of those MMOs lasted quite awhile for me.

I really liked FF11 and was hoping 14 would be amazing. Bought a new comp, Eyefinity set up, top of the line graphics card....I was set.

Then it released with 3 zones, 5 quests, and about 10 total different mobs in the game. I had never played such a bad and incomplete AAA mmo in my life as that. So fast forward to SWToR. I liked the small bit of Galaxies I played, and had they just upgraded the graphics and removed the NGE from it, it would be a great game. Yet we all know how that turned out. 300million into the game, and not even background music, any fun pvp, lifeless zones, huge faction imbalance etc....

Then as GW2 came over the horizon, it was my last hope for something other than WoW.

I cant believe how fast that got boring. Entire game screams "bot me" If you want karma, stand in any DE area and spam 3, 3, 3, 3, 3, 3, 3,3 ,3, 3. Dungeons are awful, combat isnt fluid, the removal of the trinity was a failure, AH doesnt work, Dungeons have no loot other than /random garbage.

PvP could have been fun if you could see the enemy, as it is now its just an AE fest in the general area you "think" the enemy is. Week long battles result in most servers not even caring about a pvp battle after the first day.....unlimited xfers led to zero community and everyone hoping servers until they chose the winning one. GW2 pvp is a snoozefest. /attack wall..../attack another wall....oh wait look!!! /attack another wall. Half the classes are broken and inept with no change in sight...necros, elementalists...rangers....hell, any pet class is useless.

Now GW2 was the last hope for anything really coming over the horizon anytime in the near future, so basically its WoW or bust.

Elderscrolls looked just like WoW down to the UI, and have zero faith in EQNext with how abysmal EQ2 turned out, and the fact they are scrapped it now 2x and rebuilding yet again....effectively just wasting money and time, pretty much guranteeing it gets releashed half ass to meet the bean counters quota.

So what is left? Basically GW2 was the last hope remaining for the forseeable future.

We've got a new place to hang our hat and already folks want to shit up threads with meandering bullshit. If you are really that butt hurt about the game then go shit up the refund request thread where you can get your money back.

Necros are very strong and definitely one of the most durable classes in GW2. If you want, I can hook you up with a build that is focused on prec/tough/condition damage as your primary stats while throwing out massive amounts of conditions and then spreading them with epidemic.

So you're going to hook people up with the only competent way to play a necro? It's called a conditionmancer and it doesn't change the fact that if you want to focus on minions you are sol.

As far as recent MMOs go, I think the unfortunate thing is how WoW has changed the landscape. The bar for a successful MMO used to be relatively low, so the ones making MMOs tended to have more realistic expectations. WoW's extreme success made it so everyone just figured it was some untapped market with tons of potential, which, as we've seen, just resulted in a ton of WoW clones, because it's just that simple, right? The genre just got too big, too fast.

People really need to stop looking to every new MMO to be the "WoW killer", as if that's the only way to measure an MMO's success. It's stupid for developers to approach development as if they're going to be the next coming, and it's stupid for players to write off an MMO if it doesn't meet such a ridiculous metric.

Most mmo's are successful from a business standpoint. They may not be printing money like WoW does but they are still extremely lucrative for the businesses involved.

Success from a gamer's perspective is totally subjective. I personally think WoW is a failure as a game. It's old, hackneyed stuff done a billion times before with graphics only a retard could love. But I would love to be one of the stockholders that owned WoW. Like McDonalds, WoW does very well at selling substandard crap to the masses..... 10,000,000 SERVED...

GW2 is a good game. It's not perfect, far from it. But it doesn't have any game breaking issues. And it's fun enough to get me to log in every few days. Which is more than I can say for the other mmo's out atm. That's makes it a success in my book.

Conditionmancer is one way to play but it's not the only way and certainly not the only competent way to play. It's just an easy build to get started with and branch out from there. Most necro bugs have been fixed and some abilities have been improved like Signet of the Locust. With the bugs that still exist for minions, I would stay away from them until they're addressed but they're still decent for fractals/dungeons.

I main a necro and have a little over 36k kills in WvW so I feel I have some experience with the class.

I originally started out as aconditionmancerto get a good feel for the class and what it could do as a front line pusher and then once I acquired more power/toughness/vitality gear I moved intothis build.I'm now sitting at roughly 2300 power, 2100 toughness, 2100 vitality unbuffed. Buffed (with food and sharpening stone) I have over 30k hp, 3100 armor, and 3700 attack. Once I pop Lich form I have even better stats and really feel like a mobile fortress.

Oh did they fix the dagger traits then (the lifesteal didn't use to work correctly)? I'll try that build out when I get better gear.

being forced into protection of the horde and reanimator traits makes me lol though, so useless right now =(

Your account might have been hacked and used as a BoT. Only thing I could think of that would cause a ban having not played in a while.

GW2 did many things right, but regretfully ignored some basic ideas. These are some changes they really need to make in the game.

1. Obviously fix the culling issue for WvW. This game should not have ever been released with this issue.

2. This game revolves around graphics. It is about how a weapon looks, not how powerful it is(Please see legendaries for proof). Yet the AH is not programmed to allow a player to preview how a weapon looks before I consider buying it. Yes I can go to a website and look the item up, but honestly if WoW can do it, why cannot this game???

3. Pets should not generate initial agro. If I do not have the mob's attention, my pet should not have the mobs attention. This has been dealt with two times in the past with both EQ and WoW. Could somebody please learn from past MMO's.

4. The largest of my pet pieves by far..... Why does this game not have any sort of /lfg system or global channel? This was bad when the game was released. This was horrid and one reason I just stopped having any enthusiasm to continue playing, when they introduced the fractal dungeons. Lets introduce a progressive system that requires completion of a prior system, but with no way of finding other players to continue the journey without either being in the right guild, or having 4 real life friends that play with you all the time. Now they are changing the rules of the fractal system, but now you have to worry about whether a person "Should" be in your group level and thus making the new system just a different kind of pain in the ass. MAKE A GODDAMN LFG SYSTEM YOU FUCKING MORONS.

The sad part is that the game should not have been released without all 4 of those problems being addressed. The concepts are simple and easy to understand for any player with experience in MMO's

Assuming you didn't bot or buy gold, then send in a ticket and post on the forums. Same thing happened to me a few weeks into the game. It was a very frustrating experience getting my account back. Took about 10 days of sending in tickets and posting on their forums. They eventually acknowledged their mistake and apologized in an email.

Still don't understand why I was flagged as a bot or gold seller. Their detection algorithms capture thousands of bots but they also grab some innocent bystanders along the way. It takes getting a live body looking into the account to determine if you were wrongly flagged. And they have a huge backlog of accounts they have to look into. So submit a ticket to get into the queue.

That's all they have left. They hate WoW (because it's successful and casual-orientated) and so they keep building up each new MMO launch as The Next Big Thing, one after the other. Because if there isn't a Next Big Thing, a WoW-killer then that means that maybe WoW earned its success after all. It's not a massive fluke that is going to collapse as soon as there's an alternative, it's actually that most peopleenjoy playing WoW. And if that's the case, then, well...all the game theory bollocks they keep posting about how games need no instancing, more competition, a tougher grind, less fun?

It's all wrong. And that wouldbreaktheir world-view.

So they keep piling on to thenextMMO being the one to show everyone that no, really, WoWsucksand if you'll just come play this new one over here....

Sad, really.

I don't care if a game is a WoW killer or not, but is it so much to ask to have a game that is good and holds my attention for more than 2 weeks?

I just don't understand it. I actually think WoW is a great game, but I don't play it anymore and have no plans to. For me personally I just played it to long and really how long can you play one damn game lol. People on this board are always crying for something NOT WoW. Take GW2 getting rid of the trinity. People call it a failure and say there is nothing in place of it. That is simply not true and people were not willing to figure it out. They all went back to playing WoW like someone forced them. There is nothing wrong with liking WoW. Hell there is nothing wrong with playing both games. Seriously why would you even quit GW2? There is no fucking sub!

Can't wait for the hype that will happen when then next "big thing" comes out and they all go back to playing WoW and being miserable doing it.

I don't think most of us are looking for a 'WOW Killer'. I think the general consensus is most MMOs are crap, and the few that aren't are generally only worth a few months of our time. For me, the hope is something will be new and fresh enough to play for longer. GW2 is a nicely different game, and I'm still firing it up. I don't personally think it was geared to be a 'WOW killer'. The only potential thing that could kill WOW is age and people getting bored with that design. However, as I see my friends continue to buy the new Madden year after year, I get the feeling it has quite a few years of life left.
