Whats the fastest way to 80 in this game? I have had it for over a year and never made a toon to 80, lol.

Nope they lowered the amount of XP crafting gives you, just play the game, do the story missions etc.
They didn't actually lower the amount of XP. It's just that 6 of the professions need to go to 500 now to get their full 10 levels, and those late 100 skill points are painful to raise.

At 50 or 60 you can craft yourself to 80 pretty quickly but you might regret it when you might want to get world exploration.

Also the crafting components you get while leveling can sometimes worth quite a lot.

Rogosh, if your character is over 1 year old you might have a birthday booster. 24 hour of bonus exp, magic find and everything... Each of your alt get one once a year, they are account bound and EotM is the best place for that.(once the birthday gift is open you can transfer the booster to any of your character.)

One of my guildmate made 70 WvW ranks yesterday in EotM with all the boost.

To be honest, there is absolutely no reason to get to 80, unless you play only for WvW. The best part of the game is the levelling experience, with exploration and jumping puzzles and similar stuff. Once you're 80, you're basically done. Oh, except for some personal story and eventually living story, couple hours of stuff.
For me the game consisted mostly of levelling and running dungeons with friends, pugging was a painful experience 90% of the times and usually not very fun. Exploring and working on jumping puzzles is quite fun.
Get a good soloing class if you never tried the game before, warrior, ranger, necromancer are very strong throughout their levels, your mileage may vary.

If you rush to 80, you may as well save yourself the pain and uninstall now: there is almost nothing there for you, it's not a standard MMO.

Check your mail and inventory for a birthday xp booster, then that's your ticket, it lasts 24 hours and doubles your xp gained.

Then it depends, the game is definitely at its best during leveling and world exploration, but for sheer convenience, Edge of the mists zerg is probably easier. Dungeons also give out ridiculous amount of xp, but people are hesitant to take characters below 80, because there is definitely a power gap between a character in full exo/ascended and greens/blues, but sometimes you can play your "I'm new" card and get carried through.

For $10 I figured this was worth a purchase if it's as fun as people say while leveling. Sad to hear it doesn't have an end-game, but if I get a few weeks of fun out of it, it's money well spent.

WvW is pretty much all I do lol. Guild tag I run is [Zerg] norn mesmer see if that rings any bells. XD

Sorry about the last few weeks I know it sucks having to face T2 servers, but we wanted to get back into T2, although now that we are back doesn't look like we want to stay, guilds already planning on moving :\ I'd guess we'll be facing each more often on more even terms in a few weeks.

As for leveling, all the answers above, although this past weekend would have been the best since exp was doubled in every public zone, crafts were giving up to 20 levels, had a friend level to 80 in less than 2 hours and spend 140g on crafting on a new account. For end game it's crafting/grinding legendary/ascended, wvw, spvp, dungeons/fractals if you got friends, running the zone/raid bosses daily. The zone/raid bosses end up being like wow's outdoor raid bosses, throw a bunch of people at them stay out of red circles or not, tequatl and triple threat wurms require real raid coordination, they all give out their rewards once daily (which ain't much just farming rares to break into ectos) unlike wow's once a week.

Shit can get repetitive and boring quick depending on how much you like doing certain parts of the game. I basically only wvw for the most enjoyment out of the game now even, even though it's broken and certain specs are broken and metas are broken, conditions and immobilization are getting out of hand.

Edited to add more details.

I don't even know what to say about this.

the hype this game had going up to release I found amazing. the concepts, and design principles they were stating were fantastic. And I think the game did deliver on alot of them.
but, it felt like the beta team and the live team were two completely different groups.

I dont like trinity design.. but I can't defend what we got, which was definitely half-assed, and not better by any stretch.
So many core stat systems were poorly designed/broken.

An expac and they aren't completely revamping the entire trait system? none of those announcements make any real attempt to talk about renovating what went wrong.
Like, the last "redesign" to the trait system, just redid how you acquire them. the traits themselves are exactly the same, and the points, etc. exactly the same, its just instead of 1 point at a time, you effectively get and place 5 points at once. the most stupid and cosmetic of changes. no actual fixing of the problem. what the hell?

Devaluing crit damage. great. how about you remove it entirely? (back in march it was changed to ferocity)

I'm confused, are they just adding a new weapon to each existing class in a way to give them new abilities? the wording is kind of weird lol

No one knows, cause they decided to be super mysterious, so they had more shit to reveal at the next PAX in 2weeks or whenever that is. And then they'll reveal a bit more, but still keep some to reveal later. It's normal but yeah can't be hyped about the very little stuff they've talked about so far.

I assume they are adding the new weapon/skills as part of a package for sub classes. So you get to 80 on your ranger which unlocks access to use staffs skills and a new heal and utility skills to go with it, unless they attach it to some mastery line as well. I would guess you would still be able to mix and match everything otherwise it would be pretty stupid to lock people into just those new additions, I wouldn't expect like 15 new skills just the 5 weapons skills 1 heal 3 new utility and 1 elite.

As for what Caliane mentioned, yes it definitely feels like they had two teams from beta and live, they did lose some devs in between but I don't know how important they were to the game design. Honestly the game sounded like it was going to be the ultimate mmo to me, it had everything I wanted in a game, playing in beta was amazing fun. Once the game went live it went to the shitter with the addition of ascended items, wvw turned out to be a battle of coverage and they have like maybe one dev working there who doesn't like to visit the forums. Supposedly the dungeon team was let go or reassigned after release, only one new path which replaced another path was put in, fractals added two months after release.

They barely touched spvp in two years, couple new maps, until lately which for some reason they think it can turn into esports, even though it takes them 6-12 months to even do any class changes which doesn't work for balancing, op metas run wild for months on end. They wasted over a year rebuilding the leveling experience and trait system for the Chinese release, from supposed feedback from focus groups that the game was hard to start and threw too much information at the player. It was perfectly fine the way it was.
