In Colorado they have had 2 bills in the last few days pass thru committee and will have a full vote. One bans magazines for rifles above a capacity of 15 and shotguns at 8 I believe. The other requires background checks on all sales including private person to person sales. If the magazine one passes Magpul which makes polymer AR mags and other accessories and a pretty big company would have to relocated under the way the law is written now.

I dont see anything that requires magpul to relocate passing in CO. I imagine thier tax revenue stream is substantial. But you never know, CO has alot of transplants from California lately.

I don't know if it will pass or not. But it left committee with a 2:1 margin in the vote along with the background check deal.

Reading the Magpul release yesterday made it pretty much a done deal if they passed it that they would look to relocate to a more gun friendly state.

Apparently they are going to amend the bill to allow the manufacture of mags greater than 15 but they couldn't be sold or posessed in CO. Apparently this was done to try and convince Magpul to stay in CO. Not sure what their take is on that.

From Magpul:

"Leadership team is at the Capitol again today, holding the line. Regardless of a manufacturing exemption or not, if HB1224 passes, we have to go. We can't disappoint our customers nor ignore our convictions. Anyone who votes in favor of this bill votes to drive over 600 jobs out of CO. We'll have some contact information for some further assistance coming up soon."

They can't ignore their convictions but they can make 600 of their employees redundant? I am not say that they should definitely stay but they are trying to spin it so that it does not look like their priority is to apply pressure to law makers to not implement a law that they disagree with.

More than 600 jobs are at risk if their product is outlawed. I'm sure their employees are unhappy about the situation but would rather tham fight for the future of their business rather than slowly lose their market until their jobs become obsolete.

What spin are they using? That statement looks cut and dry to me, they do not like the law/agree with it and they are leaving and taking their 600 jobs with them if it's passed. I'm sure Texas or Nevada will welcome them with open arms.

I've been following this very closely. It looks highly likely that it is going to pass. The governor just came out and announced that he supports it. They are going to ram it through and to hell with the consequences. Jobs be damned.

One thing that people seem to forget, even if they made an exception to allow them to continue to manufacture in the state, the employees and owners of the company are also users of the products and residents of the state. They themselves would not even be able to purchase the very product that they make. It's just mind blowing the stupidity and arrogance of these nut job politicians.

Congrats to whichever state lands Magpul and the hundreds of jobs they bring in.

I'm really getting tired of company's firing employees just to make some lame political point. Holding jobs hostage, great. They had an argument the first round, but if an amendment gets in just for them then they don't have a leg to stand on. There is a gun lobby, the NRA... they have had so many channels open for them to participate in democracy and have their voices heard and silence ones they don't want heard, and now they turn to this? You win some, you lose some, but don't dangle someones job in the fire when you don't have to.

I don't think anyone is forgetting this. In fact, I think that is precisely the intent.

How do they not have a leg to stand on? Their entire industry is being threatened by legislators who are taking advantage of the fear and misinformation of the general populace. This is the free market right? Isn't this a perfect example of "working as intended?"

It may well be a win-win for the employees who wish to relocate. They'd still be employed and live in a state that supports their second amendment rights. I hope Remington finally packs it in and moves South. Fuck New York.

Yeah, I hope all these firearms companies pack up their shit and get the fuck out of all these marxist freedom hating states and head to to somewhere the second amendment is actually valued. Colt needs to get the hell out Connecticut, Springfield Armory and Smith & Wesson need to get the hell out of Massachusetts.

This. It is truly mind blowing that these government officials can be so fucking retarded. I mean, this is *truly fucking retarded.* They are literally destroying jobs which will uproot hundreds of families, drive millions in tax revenue out of the state, etc, all over an absolutely fucking retarded (and UNPROVEN) idea that a 30 round magazine is the devil, but a 10 or 15 round magazine is perfectly fine. That's just *so fucking stupid* that I can't even believe this may happen. If Magpul leaves the state, I will buy 10 magazines per month from them for the rest of eternity to show my support.

-

Edit: It's too early in the AM for me to properly articulate the point I'm trying to make, but this is the exact shitty liberal outrage that drives me up the fucking wall. This shit eating state Colorado wants to be a bunch of faggots and outlaw magazines, but they still want Magpul to stay in the state because they want all the benefits from the company, but they don't want to actually allow them to be used in the state. That is so fucking unbelievably stupid that I can't even describe it. This is the same shit as fucking retards who show something atrocious on the news and sit there and point at it and tell us how atrocious it is but they still draw attention to it and then feign outrage. God I hate this people. I truly wish there was a better way for me to say "fuck you" to these pieces of shit that vote against our freedoms.
