Wow the full retard "let's ban cars/knives/sharpened pencils" because they kill people too argument. See my most recent post, but the aforementioned objects are items society NEEDS to function. Good fucking luck getting anything done in Dallas without a car, and good luck building anything without at some point using some form of sharpened object. Last time I checked, one can function in society just fine without an assault rifle.

P.S: Come see the Ft Worth gun show, should take you about all of 10 minutes to find someone to sell you armor piercing ammo. Not that I alluded that it actually contributed to any actual crime/murder problem, my example simply made clear that the people who wrote the 2nd amendment couldn't have possibly conceived about the various innovations that would evolve around firearms

Blunt weapons are used in more murders than rifles every year. Should the government step in and ban hammers? Maybe we could compromise and agree to only ban sledge hammers. Or maybe you need a background check and a license to own one. That sounds reasonable right? That would keep psychopaths from killing people with hammers.

And, last week, Judge Posner had to engage in the painful exercise of voting to overturn anIllinois gun control lawon the basis of Supreme Court precedent, even though he personally disagrees with that precedent.

I would like to see those cases in which the second amendment was raised. There's a lot of grey in your statement.

I think it's very clear what our forefathers meant when they wrote the second amendment by reading their own words on the matter.

The Constitution isn't interpreted by what we believe our forefathers could or could not have imagined at the time it was written. I'm sorry, but that is one of the most illogical arguments I keep hearing repeated.

I genuinely don't understand you here. What cases do you mean? Heller or the previous ones? And what part of the statement do you think is "grey"?

Additionally, I don't understand Eyashusa's point in linking the statement in response to that which he quoted. Heller and McDonald were close decisions and some people don't agree with how SCOTUS handled those cases, but they are still the law of the land. E, are you saying those decisions are likely to be overturned, should be overturned, should be ignored, are unpopular with some people, broke with precedent, what?

Since so many people agree that predominately handguns are the culprit- I propose the idea that we leave assault-rifles legal and we ban all handguns!

Also whichever person lamblasted Frenzied Wombat as the lib Alex Jones is fucking stupid. Frenzied Wombat might have a fringe belief (at least here that is) but he is in no way Alex Jonesing himself around. Alex Jones is a cunt.
