Is it actually confirmed flu or are you feeling like shit? We have so many patients who come in with "fever" and never bothered to check their temperature. Really?

Slight temp, girlfriend had it first. Had been off the Norco for six days when symptoms hit, so it's not that.

No blood test to confirm this time but it feels identical to the flu I had last month, which was lab confirmed.

Went in for an appointment with my Endo, I started off with an 11.1 A1C in November. Test came back and I'm at a 5.4, they took it again because they couldn't believe it, same result. I'm pretty damn happy with myself, keeping my diet under control is helping immensely, haven't had to dope with insulin since December. If my numbers are good still in August, we are going to start down stepping, and eventually completely removing my Metformin.

Just keep taking your anti-pyretics when you feel like shit. If you can handle a fever, don't take anything; just stay hydrated.

Wouldn't be so sure. Sensitization to LPS is a feature of opioid use.

6 days isn't going to magically reset your LPS "tolerance". It's just not physically possible. I don't know how long it takes, its relatively unstudied, but its definitely a feature of dopesickness and directly responsible for flu like symptoms. The severity of the "damage" to LPS sensitivity varies.

Along with the LPS sensitivity, we are talking about viral reactivation of stuff like Epstein-Barr during this withdrawal period. Varies from person to person, but viral activation in light of opioid withdrawal has been confirmed to be a possible thing.

But back to LPS-- any bacteria you have in your body or any leeching of any LPS even from innocuous sources is going to trigger far more sickness than it should. Some could argue that ANY LPS, even a normal innocuous quantity, period, will trigger severe sickness in someone who has been taking a high amount of opioids beyond a few weeks.

Treatment for LPS related dopesickness is Vitamin C and a very limited carbohydrate diet would potentially alleviate all symptoms. Also known as the "Hep C diet" I believe (been a while since I've gone over this).

Anecdotally, the Hep C diet was found to be successful in relieving symptoms of what is assumed to be LPS associated sickness in those who had recently stopped opiates/opioids.

Alternatively, its a viral infection, whether fresh or a reactivation of an existing virus, with your newfound susceptibility-- and you are just "sick". In that case, the Hep C diet + Vitamin C will not alleviate all symptoms.

I'm trying to figure out what LPS means. The only thing I can think of is lipopolysaccharide endotoxins from gram negative bacteria.

I took some liposomal vitamin C and it helped a lot

Any medication advice.

Dr gave me buspirone for test anxiety related to treadmill test I'd been flunking. He said a couple days but online sounds like it really takes a week or two to work. I'd been on the prescribed 1 pill, but due to my 6ft/200lb stature that I should be fine taking 2 since 1 didnt seem to have much of an affect.

Tuesday doing an ultrasound to confirm a bicuspid valve like my dad has. If so then I'll be getting atenolol (beta blocker) to help with the test and possibly be on it longer term. He had said he was going to say take 50mg for the test but my dad gets woozy (65 though and a pacemaker) getting up on his 25mg.

Online doesnt sound like any interactions other than despite not being a benzo you can get lowered heart rate stuff from the buspirone? Basically I'm not sure if I should take the 50mg atenolol and 2 buspirone. Or just 1 buspirone and the 2 attenolol. I have a 1.5 mile run with another agency tuesday figured I'd test using just one atenolol (25mg).

Thurs/fri/saturday I was having some discomfort and random chest tightness while in the gym running/incline fast walking. Sunday it wasn't there when I took aspirin, not sure if aspirin helped or a fluke. The week before I'd been on daily aspirin trying to thin my blood for the treadmill test before we had this revelation w/ Dr that I probably have my dads valve.

According to UptoDate, there is a less than a 1% chance of bradycardia with buspirone. I have never encountered that in my clincal experience.

Also, I generally start people on 10-15mg of buspirone daily (5mg or 7.5mg twice a day). It takes some time to work, but its preferable to a benzo and is safe. People who aren't after benzos tell me it helps a lot with anxiety.

So I just had my hernia fixed on Monday and now I'm getting a burning pain but only when walking from what I can see this might be normal pain from working near the nerve but I'm not sure. I did called the nurse and they didn't seem to worry about it so I don't know what to do.

For the past month or so I've been having a lot of blood in my stool. At first I figured it was from all the gay sex I've been having but since it didn't go away I went to the doctor. She was - well, not quite alarmed but - definitely unhappy I'd waited so long. Blood tests xrays and an appointment with a specialist. Ugh. Sucks. I'm generally a pretty healthy and active person. None of the things you google are any good. At least on the positive this is my busiest time of year so I get to bleed out my ass while being stressed from all the work I need to do. Yay.

Adult life sucks.

Will update with diagnosis once tests are returned!

Is it dark/black stools or is it bright red? If it's a lot and it's been happening for the last month, then yeah, I would be quite unhappy as well. Reminds me of a patient we JUST had who had chest pain in the gym and decided to go home and Google search the symptoms. Finally decided to come to the ER.

Yeah...he dropped dead in our waiting room. Complete cardiac arrest.

Quit procrastinating you fuckers.

12lbs in the first month is not too unexpected.
Actual fat loss is minimal, maybe 3lbs probably. the rest was water weight. just retaining less water with hot summer, less carbs to hold the water, etc.

I went to the doctor this morning about a lump on my arm. Doctor was concerned, possible tumor not simply a cyst, and sending me for an mri.

I put off getting the lump on my testicle checked for eight months. In that time it developed into a stage 3C seminoma, and I've been doing chemotherapy on and off for two years. If I had gone right away I might have just needed light radiation and could still have both my nuts.

Absolutely quit procrastinating.

Had a guy show up at my urgent care, 230/125, chest pain, elephant on his chest, shortness of breath, etc. Did quick ECG and some aspirin, oh hai2u MI!

Hello, 911? Please get this guy the fuck out of my urgent and to the ER! Thanks!
