It's all speculation until we start getting new expansion previews. Some of the losses might not be that bad if new cards are cycled in that can perform similar roles.

But I have a feeling that Blizzard wants a really big shack up to the meta so we're not going to see to see another Belcher, Shredder, etc.

Yeah, don't forget loatheb was the og miracle killer(well it was still a strong deck, but it was the first card to deliver a blow to it). He literally can fit into any deck and he belongs in 95% of them. Not having to deal with so many death rattle minions is about equally good for every deck. Not having to deal with loatheb is incredibly stronger for certain decks moreso than others.

Don't agree on egg making zoo that much more powerful(egg isn't even that good honestly, how many decks run egg? just its synergy with power overwhelming is too good), zoo was rated even higher before naxx came out, and I expect it to still be a t1 deck in standard.

Neither of these statements are accurate.
You've stated the opposite in the past. Loatheb fit into 95% of every deck when Naxx came out and even part way into GvG and you specifically talked about how Loatheb killed miracle and I'm also quite certain you also talked about how Loatheb leaving might bring Miracle back to the forefront. You are like a belligerent child that must always come off as right. You are the type of nerd that everyone makes fun of, hates and nobody wants to hang out with. Jesus Gavin, give it a rest for a single day.

Anyways. I'm very excited about the expansion theme. Seems everything is coming up Cthulu these days. MTG, Darkest Dungeon, Hearthstone. Perhaps Lovecraftian horror is the new "in" meta genre. Maybe we'll even get a Walking Dead Lovecraft version, god that'd make me so happy.

Maybe miracle killer wasn't the best way to describe it, when I said that I meant miracle went from undisputed #1 rank deck to being in dispute of being the #1 deck. It was the beginning of its downfall.

I can't remember the time line anymore, was it Leeroy Nerf > Loatheb > Auctioneer nerf? I feel like I remember Auctioneer being the real nail in the coffin. Deck couldn't function anymore with that shit at six mana.

Meta shifts also probably accelerated the miracle death on top of the nerfs. I still see oil builds in casual running him sometimes, but I don't know why you would when you're probably cutting shredders or teachers to include it.

At any rate, nerfing Leeroy was mostly a speedbump, but that deck was a plague with pre-nerf Leeroy. Basically felt like the patron meta but more people playing rogues than ever seemed like were playing patron wars.

This coming from you gave me a really good laugh. Only part of your laughable post worth addressing.

The Leeroy nerf was a helluva lot more than a speedbump, it was still a top deck in the meta but it was actually fair with the increased cost pushing your combo turn back significantly. Instead of being able to triple Leeroy on turn 8, you could double Leeroy on turn 8 and couldn't triple Leeroy unless you'd managed to save the coin somehow. Loatheb barely dented the deck, but the Gadgetzan nerf killed it until the combination of Emperor + Pillager brought it back. Loatheb has been a bit more prevalent in the current meta because with combo druid reigning supreme, that one combo free turn can mean the difference between winning and losing, and a 5/5 for 5 is a fair deal anyway. He also fits well into the midrange decks because it gives you the option to flood the board then drop Loatheb and dodge mass removal for a turn. He certainly doesn't belong in 95% of decks though.

Expansion almost has to be next week or the first week of April I'd think, just because of Standard switch and concerns for the guys at the top competing for world championship points. I'm hoping for next week, though I find the first week of next month more likely

Everyone's expecting April with the new season. The big announcement is this weekend and then the assumption would be they start teasing out the new card reveals.

I completely disagree with Gavin on Loatheb(like everyone else). He fits in almost all decks at this point. He's even at the high end of a lot of aggro including zoo. Bringing in a 5/5 on turn 4-5 which is very hard to answer is far better than some options you just mentioned. While I agree that scientist brings in a very powerful effect and creeper is excellent value, Loatheb is definitely in the mix for top 10 cards that will be missed.

Deck Recipes? I dunno, some new thing. Link currently just goes to main page of website.

Hearthstone on Twitter:

Also I've had a Rogue Warrior 5 win quest stewing for a few days so decided to build a patron deck. I've always played Control Warrior in the past, I have to say Patron is still pretty interesting. I'm doing pretty well with it atm, like 4-1 or something abouts that

The link in that is working now btw.

Is it Friday yet? Ugh. So hard to play before announcements. I just want to know!

I assume the Madness will trigger when the Whisper effect triggers, and not when the Whispers are cast?

Anyway, these seem fun/cool so far.

Looking at Tavern Brawl for inspiration on the new mechanic is a good idea.
Not sure if those predictions on that imgur album will be exactly right, but might be close.

Anyway, here's confirmation that it's called Whispers of the Old Gods (from Reddit):

Definitely glad to see this. The sooner they get it out the better. The meta is so stale right now. But I'm less than 30 wins to golden pally.

Might be fake, most of the cards have the classic set imprint behind the text. Except the mage one which is BRM. And the herald has none.

Not sure about the mechanics anyway, seems...complicated.
