So it would have stolen something from me but then my deathrattle would have stolen something right back?
Yup and why its better for the player playing sylvanas second, if you manage to steal sylvanas with sylvanas its pretty much gg.

99% not.

Shame, if they gave away the first one for free, I could see myself buying the whole thing, but otherwise it's not really worth my time

Eh, presumably they'll include at least one or two staples that you really can't do without, like Belcher.

Belcher, Loatheb, Mad Sci if you intend to play any deck with secrets ever. Probably more I'm forgetting. I guess KelThuzad sees play but its much more situational and somewhat gimmicky/win more. The only way its not worth it IMO is if you aren't going to play anymore. If its like $25 again I don't see it as a big deal, but I play daily so its worth it to me.

I feel like a horrible person playing hunter. Like scum of the earth. I put together the original reynad madsci hunter (two explosive, two freezing) and just destroy everything.

You top deck your lethal nonstop. Sickening.

It's not about the money, I just don't feel like it's worth it to pay 25$ for ~1 hour of gameplay and you are gimped against everyone else if you don't. I understand this must make money hand over fist, but I feel like the core game is still very thin. Ingame tournaments ? Replays ? Deck Slots ? BoX support ? Deck analytics ? I prefer to throw money at Valve because even if I don't, I won't be penalized for it while playing gainst others.

Just curious from the MTG players how many cards are released per year?

I believe we are looking at 70+ yearly for Hearthstone

Its less than 1 dollar a card. Shits cheap. Its cheaper then a real expansion if you haven't hoarded gold all the way to the cap before one is released.

A lot more:

Based on our good friends at Wikipedia:
List of Magic: The Gathering sets - Wikipedia, the free encyclopedia

There is 1 core set released each year with about 250 cards. These cards are mostly old cards that get cycled in and out of the base set. Back when I played they did add a few new cards to the base set though. But mostly they're re-releases.

In addition to that core set, it looks like they've been doing 3 expansions per year. One big expansion of over 200 cards and two smaller expansions of around 150 cards. My numbers are actually on the low side just because I like nice, round, numbers.

With that being said, I have no idea what the quality of their releases are like. Looking at the wikipedia page shows me just how long I've been out of touch with Magic. My last expansion was Weatherlight, a smidge of Tempest and 5th edition. Since that time, it looks like 50 (FIFTY!) expansion have been released as well as 11 core sets.

Perosnally I don't mind dropping $25 for the expansion. Blizzard has a right to make a profit so long as they have a quality game. But I do like sales, discounts and free stuff as much as anyone so I was hoping that they'd give us the first wing for free again similar to how they did it with Naxx.

I think I burned out by doing daily quests all the time, since that seems like the only "goal" I can work towards. Grind gold, pray for legendaries, or at least for foils to dust. Rinse and repeat. When the game itself feels like a chore with no end, why bother playing or even spend money on it ?

Comparing it to MtG is flawed imo, because you can't trade Hearthstone cards and you don't get to own a piece of paper.

No Clue, For me it's an addiction not to get behind with everything that is happening currently in the game, but to be honest not much has changed in this game since I started.

They really need to put in more carrots on a stick, and play modes. Blizzard takes forever to do anything tho.

Might be time for me to quit for a bit ... I was playing a Mage in Arena with my Priest - I have 3 minions on board, he drops a shredder which pops a doomsayer and wipes me out. He beats me down a bit, I manage to stabilize and I'm about to break through and turn the tide, out comes another shredder which pops out a 2nd doomsayer ... wipes my board again and then rapes my face after that, since I can't get anything else down that can challenge him.

Like 600ish?

Of that, maybe 10% are truly relevant in tier 1 or tier 2 constructed decks.

Was changed this year - starting this summer, no more core sets - from what they've stated Magic: Origins (the replacement over the summer) will be almost entirely new cards if not entirely - and with all the big/small sets it's basically around 1k cards a year. (with about 20% being reprints or so)
