In other words, whoever plays a non-Maexxna legendary first likely wins.
I won with Mukla, Krush and Malorne on the table.

Turn 7 I played Ghad'zrilla and he cleared it with a 2/1 and the rest 1/1. Think it was up to 128 damage before it died.

I rarely play hunter, so not sure if normal webspinners have such a high chance of legendaries? I think I played 10 or so and got 5 different legendaries (also had Maexxna that I used to clear his Maexxna).

I only started playing a couple weeks ago, so I have a question about building my card collection. I've been saving my coins for the arena, as i understand its the best value if you can do well (I suck pretty bad at it atm). However, I only seem to be getting GvG packs as an arena award, with the occasional random extra card. Should i be buying packs with my gold instead of running the arena if my collection is still in the beginning stages?
I started in January so can offer some recent experience. First, I would buy Naxx with cash. I think BRM is much less useful for a starting player. In terms of Arenas and classic packs, I did the following: run Arena ~3 times a week with the gold from your dailies. Then, whenever I completed an Arena and had over 300g, I would buy an additional classic pack.

I ended up spending some cash on classic packs to supplement, but if you don't mind slowly growing your collection, the above should work pretty well.

Edit: if you already have 2 normals of a given card, I would DE any additional goldens for the dust unless you really care about that kind of thing.

RNG to the max. Playing 1 & 2 drop beasts vs 2x Malorne/1x Krush/1x Ghazrilla is nearly impossible. Almost won except for him pulling KK.

Got my first 12 win arena! The best I have ever done previously was two 11 wins.

You wouldn't think it possible, but they've managed to make brawl shittier and less fun every single week.

I'm disappointed with the Tavern Brawl so far, it's just too gimmicky. I was hoping for special rules in deck building which would have made things interesting. Also the lack of reward after the first win makes it fairly pointless.

Can we go back to complaining about dr boom? He has literally been played turn 6/7 in at least 75% of my matches today.

I had two different matches yesterday where I was running double BGH and got 18 cards deep without seeing one. I wasn't happy.

Not going to lie, don't think I'd get near 12 with that deck. It's decent but not enough amazing cards to get me thinking full wins.

(1) Since it costs 4x more to make a card then to d/e one, shouldn't I just be keeping all the cards I have and d/e any extras? There are certainly classes I prefer over others, but given how the meta can shift, is it a good idea to put all my eggs in one basket?
Yep the costs are a bit silly. Fortunately the meta rarely finds use for bad cards. Good cards have remained good and bad ones have remained bad. The only time this hasn't been true is in rare instances where new cards somehow find a use for "some" bad cards. See "Battle Rage", it has never been used until Patron Warrior. There really aren't too many other cases out there.

You can safely DE mini-mage, patient assassin, master of diguise, soot spewer, & many more.

Also, you can DE good cards that you would never run 2 of. Examples: Pyroblast & Lay on Hands, if you have 1 copy you can DE any additional copies.

You can keep all your cards if you really want to but if you enjoy winning you should try focusing on building the meta decks first, then worry about your collection later. Hunter/Mage/Warlock are the quickest to build while offering a decent variety.

(2) Is it bad to start with a rogue, as opposed to mage/lock/hunter? Just from the packs I've opened, I have a lot of high-value rogue cards and I think I can put together a pretty good deck. Was your point just that its easier to start with those classes, because you can make decent, cheap decks?
It really depends. 1) Do you enjoy Rogue? 2) Do you have the "key" cards?
Rogue really only has 1 meta deck atm. If you enjoy Rogue then go ahead and experiment. As a new player you might want to play with mech Rogue. It's not a competitive deck but it can be fun anyway and still win games. Oil Rogue is "meta". Ideally you play what you enjoy. If you enjoy winning then you probably want to build an Oil Rogue deck.

The Hunter/Mage/Warlock suggestion is purely if you want to play meta decks to climb the ladder. Those would be the best options to start at.

Warrior/Druid/Priest and even Paladin require too many Legendaries and Epics. Rogue isn't too expensive but it's a combo deck that requires a certain line of thinking and calculating and not everyone enjoys it.

Damn, that's crazy. Every time I play arenas, the SAME results happen: lose, lose win, win, win, lose. Always, ALWAYS end up 3-3 with the same exact sequence. Guess I just suck at making decks, lol.
Yeah, I often go - win 4 straight, I feel invincible, and then I lose 3 straight.

Is everyone trying to get golden dudes or something? Why do I keep running into aggro paladin? I don't think I've lost to it yet since playing a little bit more these past couple of days and I see it fairly often.

Let it also be said there is literally no reward for grinding the ladder, so don't think you "need" to play a competitive deck for any reason. You get a card back at Legend (never changes so no rush) and you only need to hit rank 20 to get the monthly card back.

I'll go against the grain and encourage you to play in ranked over casual though, wins in ranked count towards your golden hero (and from posts here and on Reddit Casual mode is anything but).

IMO, if you're just starting out, just don't set the goal of trying to 'beat' the ladder (i.e. get to Legendary). Unless you've been watching the game forever (so you have knowledge of all the meta decks and how to handle them) and have a crap ton of time and patience, you're realistically not going to get Legend going free-to-play. At least, not for the first few months until you build up your collection.

But this is just my 2 cents as a casual who mostly plays for fun.

Yup.

How hard is it to make something like:

Create a deck with at least 10 Pirates, Dragon, Murloc, Beast, or Mech.

Or:

Create a deck where you can only have 4 cards that cost 4 or less.

Or:

All minions cost (3) more to play.

Or:

All minions have their attack and health swapped upon entering the battlefield, upon attacking, or upon taking damage.

Or:

All spells cost (5) less.

Or:

Players lose 2 health whenever they play a minion.

Or:

Hero powers are randomized! Pick a hero, make your deck, but you won't know what Hero power you have until you start the game!
(or better yet, allow people to pick a hero, make a deck and then choose what hero ability they want to go with it. That would create quite a few interesting dynamics.

Or:

All minions have Freeze.

Or:

Make a deck using the Adventure bosses cards.

Or:

Gain a random secret every time a minion dies.

Etc. etc. etc. It's really, really easy. I get they are using minimal resources to do these Brawls, but I'm talking an extra 10 minutes here.
