Mathematically speaking would this be possible? Every deck is strong vs 3 other decks and weak against 5?

I was thinking the key to legend is being cognizant of where the glass ceiling is for each deck. I.E. Mech Mage will get you to Rank 12, but Loses hard in Rank 11 so to elevate above the pack at your rank you need to change deck types where your conditions are more favorable at each specific tier. Someone would make a badass website if they could figure out what decks are strong through what ranks, where they start and where they plateau.
Ranks aren't like against a computer AI though, they'll vary by days of the week or anything else. It's as much of a psychology thing as anything else - hell if such a website happened it would likely have people analyzing it backwards to not run what it's showing as the most popular for a tier/time which would then skew and revise it.

It'd be easy to do if you had enough people playing with some kind of match data gathering app running. I imagine if Hearthstats ever gets enough users active it could do something like that. People already do this to a degree on their own, you'll see streamers switch up decks based on the fact that they running into a lot of X deck.

It's not impossible, but it would also force the meta to change even quicker hour to hour.

meta changes by times, not by ranks. All decks are played at all ranks. The good ladder players recognize what's common at the current time of day and adjust.

In my experience it is both AND where you are in the season. Beginning of the season from rank 16 to rank 12 I played vs Mech Mage 19 hours a day. Only didn't show up between 1 am to 6 am my time. Soon as I was rank 10 (and basically stopped seeing rank 12+ players) I stopped seeing Mech Mage. All the way to rank 8 I saw almost no Druids. Hit rank 8, every time of day, saw Druids. Then mid-season Rogue started popping up. Frequency of decks also changes on the weekends in my experience. So you have basically four variables. How far into the season, time of day, rank, and weekday or weekend.

Also few match ups really require a full class switch. There are always tech cards you can swap in that'll boost your win rate. Mech Mage that already runs Mirror Entity/Scientists really just needs a Loatheb to beat Rogue, for instance. I put a TBK in my Mech Mage when I started running into taunt/ramp Druid. Made a huge difference in my win rate.

Just went 5-1 with Priest (daily), hit rank 5 from rank 8. Two of those games I should have lost if my opponent played around Priest correctly (stupid stuff like opening up a really value turn 4 Shadow Madness, playing into Auchenai/Circle when I kept TWO cards in my mulligan, etc.) But that is a factor in the meta as well, if people don't see a deck often enough they seem to forget what it runs.

What's everyone use for a tracker? I was using that hearthstone tracker program that puts the overlay in game, but I keep having it crash the game on me if I tab out, which I tab out all the time. I might have changed a setting that made that happen, maybe I'll try a reinstall. Lately I've been manually using HearthStats which is ok but the overlay in game is nice to have too.

I've been using the Hearthstone Deck Tracker program that SparklePony posted a month ago from GitHub. It's been working great and doesn't slow down the game like another one I used that used screecapture. Makes me nervous though because it will post my cards before I even see them, my mulligan cards will pop up while the slot machine thingie is still "finding an opponent". I really don't want to get my account suspended one day for using a program that's sniffing what it shouldn't.

Alright, that seems to be helping, not sure why it didn't give me the usual auto update. By the way, I had googled a bit a couple months ago to see if it was legal and everything I found said you aren't breaking any rules by using it.

Ya when I googled it seemed it was technically in a grey area but Blizzard is aware and doesn't seem to mind, which is why I still use it, but it still makes me a little nervous that it could fall in between the cracks and get lumped with more malicious programs by some overzealous flunkie from Blizzard. Normally I wouldn't give a shit at all but have spent too much real $$ on the game at this point.

I assumed the packet sniffing part was more from the client data being available while the user is still seeing animations, not really anything that wouldn't be allowed.

I am really enjoying the game so far, but it is beyond infuriating to see your Arena opponent pull out 3 epics, a Legendary and 3 rares back to back, when all you have been given is 2-3 rares. I am confused to why we can't all have access to the same amount of rares, epics and Legendaries. I know other TCG have luck associated to them in draft, but never to this extent.

There isn't any packet sniffing, there is a file written client side that it is reading.

isn't that technically also against the terms? I play so much on android now I don't have stats for tons of games now so that sucks till something that can do cross platform stuff or something.

No, and the lead dev of HS tweeted that Blizzard doesn't care.
