I use that deck, but honestly mortal coil isn't necessary.
In fact, allot of the time I have to manage not going over 10 cards.

It's my favorite deck of all time, but it's slow as fuck.

It's better to replace Bloodmage, and the 2x mortal coils with Tinkmaster/ Pagle/ and Jaraxxus
I think he made that deck when Pagle was broken...

The whole point of that deck is to get either the Twilight drake out on turn 4, and shielded by turn 5
Or sunfury to watcher if you don't get the drake in the opener. The benefit of all of this is you can take damage ,or jew up on some cards to get those giants out really fast.
Then you still have a shitload of stuff for the end game.

It's amazing against druids, and pretty much any control decks. It's really good against UTH because of the early taunts.
Depending on the shaman deck, they can give you problems.

So whats the reason I should play this as opposed to say MTG online?

I played enough mtg to get a a bit over 2000 dci constructed rating before quitting in late 03. watched a few HS matches, it basically looks like a dumbed down mtg. Maybe can someone can enlighten me to why I should put in the money to play it? Since i am looking for an online tcg to play, Online seems better since it evades the cheaters that were more rampant then most realized, especially in type 1 back then.

You don't have to put any money into it to play it. This makes it completely different from playing MtG, which is a gigantic moneysink no matter how you approach the game pretty much.

Free is the only reason I play it. Though it does make the going slow because I have no motivation to play ranked games against people who clearly have better cards than me.

It is an easy and free way to burn an hour. The game itself is pretty simple, but sometimes that might be what someone is in the mood for.

Seriously though, what do people do in this game if you don't have enough gold for arena? Playing ranked with shitty cards is no fun. I'm ranked 19 yet I am commonly facing people with lots of epics and legendaries. I have 1 good epic(ancient of lore) and one shitty legendary(the beast). My daily today was win two druid or rogue games. Don't even feel like doing that one because I don't have a lot of the necessary cards to make a good deck with those heroes.

If you are already proficient at Magic and you like what it is than Magic Online is fine. I've been playing it on and off since Kamigawa and for me it does what I want. I can tinker with decks, prospect on nickel rares, play all I want in the casual room, and I don't need to store boxes of cards or organize or sleeve or any of that shit. The primary drawback is that you pay 100% of physical price for product. No one pays full retail for packs but for some reason everyone has to with MtGO. A digital draft costs me exactly what a physical draft would and that just rubs me the wrong way.

But for its positives Magic Online is Magic and Magic is expensive. The Standard deck I like right now is G/R with a bunch of fatties and removal and it would cost me 380 dollars to buy digitally. Back when I was playing physical that kind of deck was the budget option. I honestly can't take the entire game seriously anymore it's gotten so expensive. I'm in Ye Old Local Game Store every week and the money people are willing to put down on cards for their Modern or EDH decks is frankly absurd. That's just me though. I'm one cheap fuck. The MtGO client and interface are also mediocre.

Hearthstone is shiny, friendly, fun and cheap. I was kinda bashing the game early on but I've been giving it a real try and it's growing on me. I like the complexity I'm seeing out of decks given the small card pool and the game play has more depth than it would first seem. Over time it is going to grow into something that is very, very good and it's not asking you for much of anything. It won't change how I play MtGO personally but Hearthstone would be the product I recommended unless the costs were absolutely no concern to you.

What I've been doing when I don't have enough gold to get back into the Arena is to do the dailies in casual play and for every game I win I make sure to lose another. Today's was perfect. It was "Do 100 Damage to Heros." Get opponent to single digits, concede. That way my MMR never rises and doing dailies is never a chore. Taking a level zero Hero into a couple games is no problem. Then it's off to the Arena.

Wait, there's MMR in casual? I thought that was just a freeforall fuck around, use whatever deck you want, it doesn't count against your ranked record. I've been matched against some people with seriously better cards than me in casual.

There's hidden MMR everywhere has nothing to do with ranked.

They disclosed it finally at Blizzcon, but everyone could tell anyway.

Another 800 dust and I'll go throw myself at ranked but for now my strategy of choosing to lose keeps the non-Arena game pleasant and the daily quests easy. I also figure there are lots of other people trying to do their dailies and don't mind winning a game they had lost.

I'm surprised Veev's retarded taunt deck seems to work, but watching him play it does okay. Seems like it'd just be more annoying than anything.

I got enough dust to craft Alexstraza. Man, Giant Warlock works so much better with him there

Messing around with it later, wife and I repeated it and it was predictable showing where stuff would be expected. Guess the client can just glitch out after a while, was a long session.

I'm getting turned off Feral Spirit's. It's just not a good card, the overload is too much. Especially when a lot of the time they kind of just get dealt with mostly free and you pretty much lose half your next turn.

They're not much of an early play card - they're more longterm - think of them like EE, EE you don't want to play at 5 in 99% of cases usually 6-7. Same with Dogs, most of the time playing them at 3 is wrong and 4-5 is right.

Not really. You can't play them on 5, because then you can't Fire Elemental (or Cairne if more control). Plus at that point best case scenario you get a 1 for 1, and losing the 2 mana next turn is just going to give your opponent even more tempo. You're really just hoping for Feral + Flametongue and that something doesn't go tragically wrong, in which case you just lost the game.

I dunno, it's the same reason people don't often run Earth Elemental. There is just too much that can go wrong and then you just lose.

Shrug, do you play Shaman much? Understanding how to fit stuff in with Overload is pretty key. And yes, those timeframes are just a rule of thumb - as someone who plays (and wins) with a Shaman every chance it makes sense, they're a very valuable card, just you have to pay attention to your hand and the board status.

Unless you're playing against something like a Murloc Rush that's already going off on T2, T3 won't be appropriate for it - and it's NEVER appropriate to coin it outside of a really bizarre case.

Against mages is about the only time I'd push to put them out earlier - simply because of Flamestrike + Blizzard - but there's another 8 classes out there.... (And almost never worth dropping them without some totems up first - for other targets for "random target" stuff or healing)

Feral spirit is the main reason I had so much trouble with shaman when I was playing warrior aggro. Also, Alextrasza is a female.
