I'm playing Arena, had a couple bad picks along the way (like completely terrible). However, some of them just won me a game. Top decking vs a Shaman, he's at 5 health I'm at 6. I'll have is an Amani Berserker on the board at 5/1, He's got a damaged golem 2/1, 0/2 taunt totem, and bolderfist ogre. I draw Coldlight Oracle, play it for the 2 cards, draw Naturalize and hit the taunt totem with it so I can hit him for 5.

I can only imagine what the guy was thinking after that happened

I don't care what the top streamers say about skill, the game is mostly luck. I drafted two nearly identical rogue decks last night. 1 deck I go 1-3 with the other deck I go 10-3 with.

Some skill involved I have done at least 15 arena drafts at this point and best I have done is 4-3.

Getting to the point of being done until new sets roll around (or some sweeping changes - fixed rarities and something to curb copy count in Arena would be an example of a sweeping change that could probably do it for me) - got basically everything done on dust, maybe every couple days for keeping GP maxed for whatever comes down the line, but its getting too repetitive at this point. Even arena is pretty damn repetitive since so many people get 16 copies of the same card they prefer, so once you've seen one copy of X power card you know to expect to see another 6 in the top half of their deck, etc.

Was quite fun, but just not enough cards and variety to support it as a longterm proposition right now. Actually on the Arena note and new sets, I really wonder how they're even going to do new sets with it - 50/50 pull from each? Random chance per pack? Both completely mixed together? (I doubt the last since the Promo only ones can't show in Arena though already)

Skill in drafting != skill in play -- and drafting still involves some luck. (Mages being very susceptible to that especially)

His argument is VERY valid in play, although only somewhat valid in the draft process.

The issue at hand with Hearthstone is not that chance has a large impact...It most certainly does...

Like many games, the better player comes out ahead over the long term due to all the little choices made along the way. The foresight to play something on turn 3 because they have an insight into the deck composition of both themselves and their opponent. Little plays that don't always have impact, but when taken over the long term determine who is a winner and who is just a player.

My main bitch about Hearthstone is the lack of differentiating factors. There simply aren't that many things that allow skill and experience to take definitive and substantial advantage. There are only some many archetypes and after a while it becomes rock, paper, scissor for those who understand the game...And a game of Rock for those who copy netdecks...But even Rock wins over the Meta in a slimmed down simplistic system.

I started two weeks ago or so when Open Beta began...And I'm down to rank 5 now. That was slow and steady playing handlock, midrange Druid, and a shitty hunter deck. Cards are a limiting factor at this point for me...I have yet to spend more than ten dollars on the game. I've been fortunate to chain run Arena since I began with quests sometimes boosting me if I have a mediocre run.

Just my thoughts.

Dammit, I finally got 12 wins and forgot to screenshot the deck. It was a mage deck without too much special, 0 flamestrikes, 0 polymorphs, a couple of frostbolts and an Antonidas who only really mattered once. The all-stars of the deck were the 2 mana wyrms which I always seemed to draw early enough for me to make them matter with mirror images and secrets.

I would love to see the addition of some more game mechanics, like instants for example. I doubt that will ever happen though. And of course I want to see more cards added.

They should auto save your deck after each arena run finishes. Or at least display it on the final screen.

Probably the same reason they limit character slots and still need to bring the servers down for 8+ hours every week.

Im not a hardcore hearthstone player by any means so my little story might not be that amusing... however...

Couple days ago I received King Krush from a pack and Hunter is my least played deck. I even salvaged most of my hunter cards not long ago. I was very close to salvaging KK but decided to wait on it.

Today I log in to do the daily and I recycle a 40 to get a 60 requiring 5 wins with either mage or hunter.

I figure wtf, may as well make a Hunter deck with KK!
Seriously the only reason I wanted to play a Hunter deck was to use the Legendary.
I haphazardly put together a deck with whatever hunter crap I still have left. It was mostly "Charge" based but I don't have UTH or Eaglehorn etc, so its probably a pretty bad deck.

I play 6 matches, 2 normals and 4 ranked matches (@13 rank). I win 5 and lose 1 to complete my daily.
All 5 wins were vs other hunters.
1 loss was against a druid that top-decked his victory (Swipe to the face) on final turn, else he was going to lose.

In SIX matches I never saw KK in my hand EVER. what....the...fuck.
There was 1 game I had 2 buzzards feeding me cards, had 7 cards left in my deck and still never saw KK.

On the bright side I was pretty amused how I went 5-1 with a deck I made in about 2 minutes.
On the other-hand I was pretty pissed by game 4 when I still had yet to see KK. I never even saw him in an opening hand or anything.

I might need to keep playing the deck if it'll keep feeding me wins though. Now I have enough gold for arena which will probably take me a couple days to finish.

My weekend arena streak was: 11-3, 11-3, 11-3, 0-3. I have no idea how that happened.

Because this is not a physical card game that are extra random elements. it is like random multiplied by random.

Here's the Priest deck I've created. Like other Priest decks, it's not quite viable in Ranked play yet, but it ishilariousto play in Casual.

My idea was to build a deck around all of the mind control type cards and the result works surprisingly well. Super fast aggro decks usually do too much damage in the the first 3-4 turns if I get a bad hand, but otherwise it has been a lot of fun using your opponent's cards against him.

Lots of "tweaked" cards in there--still playing around with some of the slots. Leeroy is fun to combo with Mind Control Tech and hope RNGesus gives you one of his stronger minions, but chances are I'll likely sub him out for something else. You could take him and Pagle out and add an Inner Fire and Divine Spirit for a a funny Turn 10 combo after dropping Ysera on 9. That got me a few wins that made me giggle like a school girl.

Best Arena run I've had so far. It doesn't hurt that I have 2 Truesilvers, a SOJ, 2 spiteful smiths, and a faceless manipulator. Pro tip: faceless spawns as an exact copy of the minion in it's current state. I've won 2 games by cloning a damaged spiteful smith with a truesilver in hand. Much fun.

Missing cards at the top are a Blessing of Wisdom and Blessing of Might.

2 mountain giants and 2 drakes but very little card draw. Doesn't seem very logical to me. You are banking on having Pagle most the game drawing cards or getting to late game and sitting on Ysera for a lot of turns?

Otherwise, yea.. I was watching Reynad play a priest deck with the same concept that did decent.

Annnnd right as I start my 8th game my computer crashes and I get a loss on turn 3. I then immediately lose to a mage who coins pint-sized on turn one, plays Bloodmage and mirror image on turn 2 and then proceeds to wreck everything I drop with direct damage from there on out. Fuck.
