No hard date yet, just 2014.

I stupidly played some arena games on my iPad when my wifi was acting up. Lost one to an infinite turn. I should've stopped there, but I killed the program and queued for arena again. Another infinite turn ended up being my third loss.
iPad is great for playing some casual games on the couch while watching TV. But if I need to play serious, like trying to Rank up or playing Arena (something I don't do), I'd rather play on the computer right now.

Fuck RNGesus so hard. 7 Knifes to the face when all I needed to hit was a minion, then Rag hits the face as well. Talk about a game I should not have lost. rip that arena run.

Serious business.

I had been playing basically only priest for a while and having trouble getting beyond rank 16. I decided to try out a zoo warlock yesterday.. and I'm now rank 7. It's so much easier than priest that it's almost ridiculous. I am getting a little tired of playing against hunters 3 out of 4 games though.

I was watching some guy play yesterday and he managed to get 3 legendaries in an arena deck. I've gotten like 1 legendary in the last 10 arena decks I've played. Am I just really unlucky?

I'm pretty sure I played against that guy. Guardsmanbob or something? That deck was fucking retarded. Ended my run at 8-3. Having Tirion then Cairne played against you in arena pretty much means you lose, especially as a Warlock.

Edit: You aren't that unlucky, that's about normal. It's somewhere around 10-20% to have 1 in a run. Also, Zoo has a pretty good match against Hunter since you can really pressure them. While they can be annoying to play against, you should usually be happy about it.

Granted I haven't played all the classes a ton, but I personally feel like priest is the weakest class in constructed. I really like some of their cards but I haven't been able to put together a deck that I would call reasonable against most matchups.

Priest is better than mage but both suck. And they're both extra bad in the current hunter/zoo meta.

I agree with the no random chatter thing. I like it. If I really want to talk or ask a question I can friend request after the game. If he doesn't want to hear it he can ignore it. I dig it. I also agree that magic's Lands are its weak spot when compared to Hearthstone. I've even listened to Rosewater's podcast defending the design choice of Lands as a thing and I'm still not convinced. This version of mana acquisition is maybe not as diverse, but is ultimately more fun.
Mana screw is a weak spot in MTG that newer games avoided (WoW tcg did it well), but you dont need to add random land draws to deepen the resource mechanics. I think a 'colorless only' 0-10 scale is too shallow. It'll be difficult to differentiate cards through cost alone fairly quick. They really should've used factions/reputations as part of the resource costs, even if they only had Horde, Alliance and neutral at release time. Again, something that did work in the paper version (they didnt use that design space well enough either though).

Cutting interaction on the opponents turn was a good choice, you want the game to flow quickly. No instants is good. Cutting depth that applies during deck construction is not really necessary as long as the actual playing doesnt bog because of it.

I wish people wouldn't concede. Is it really that much quicker to drop out for one turn? More XP and sometimes people are trying to do quests involving something other than wins.

Always funny to see some of the more dumb plays, especially in arena. Playing against Pally, I pulled out Rag on turn 8 (already had a defias on the board), which in turn hit him (instead of his minion) in the face. Brings his health down to 6. He plays Truesilver, dread cosair and a molten giant with zero mana. He then proceeds to attack Rag with his weapon....

DoC has a good system, where you essentially pick each turn what "color" mana crystal you get. Adds just a little decision-making to your turns, eliminates luck on the mana and makes deck building more interesting.

I'm sorry you won your game...

Concede is there for a reason. It's to prevent a losing player from being "held hostage" by the winner while they complete their elaborate 10 card combo to deal 68 points of damage when all they needed to do was run their 1/1 Argent Squire into the opponent's face.

Personally I'm of the other opinion. I don't think people concede early enough a lot of times hoping that their opponent misplays (which, let's face it, rarely happens at higher levels to the extent their opponent is hoping for). Personally, as soon as I see the situation become impossible for me to win (which can be a good 2 or 3 turns out from actual lethal), I concede and move on to my next game.

I'm one of those people that really hates hunter, but man playing Hunter really makes you play out your hand when you win. Probably because people always concede. You go Leeroy UTH and you can just feel the rage through the internet as they concede as fast as they can. Probably 80% of people concede when they see that happen.

I'm rank 5 atm and playing Druid. This morning I've played 3 games. A secret/Antonidas Mage that missed lethal, unfortunately I didn't have the right cards to punish it. A face Warrior that had me down to 2 but I just healed the shit out of and ended the game at 18 hp and a domination board. An Agro Mage who also missed an easy lethal and cost him the game. I had 15 hp because I just used Alexstraza on myself, he had an Azure Drake on the board and used Pyroblast on my Alexstraza, then lost 2 turns later.

How do you get to rank 3-5, play Mage, and just miss lethal easily. Especially when you've spent the game going for face.

Because it's not a zero-sum system until rank 5. You can be really bad with almost no cards and given enough time you will hit rank 5.

I fucking suck at this game. Just started on the ipad and I lose more than 50% of the time to players. I put together decks according to the reddit noob post yet sometimes I struggle against certain decks on expert setting (plus the whole losing to players thing). Any advice or should i just grind it out until i get more cards?

You just have to keep playing, and play multiple classes. Knowing all the cards by heart will help you play better.

That is the first step.

I guess you could watch some popular streamers to see what they do. Tho honestly if you are not playing ,and just watching you will be shit anyway.
Experience of what cards people will play comes with playing the game constantly.
