I caved in and did the monthly thing once, first time I've spent money on anything on my phone or tablet. Mostly just stocking up the gems and raid tickets.

My biggest problem right now is getting skills all up to max, it's not even the money just logging in to do it often enough.

Yea, I normally don't pay either, but 2.99$ for 120 gems a day, I'm a sucker....

I've always believed these microtransaction games would make so much more money if things were like 0.50$ or 1.00$ I'd love to mine that database on what people buy in these games. The 9.99 crap and stuff can't be sold that often....anyway side rant.

I am gold locked also so it's tough to level the skills of all heroes. It gets a little better, only because it takes longer to level your account with each increase so eventually you start to gain some ground.

Yeah this cash model is hugely popular in SEA and KOR communities. Take a look at the top 200 of any server and most of them are non-US VIP 12+

We're talking level 58 with 5 star fallen dominions/cloudwalker etc. (stuff you can only get from gold chests at that level range)

Don't expect to compete above rank 150 on a new server if you haven't put a couple hundred into this game.

I can get in the low 100s on arena, don't usually stay there for too long though. My high is rank 76 when I was level 59

But I agree that the cash needed for vip levels ramps up way too fast. It takes $500 to get to vip 11, which has the magic stone sale

Level 65 now, finally unlocked cloud walker.

The only time I struggled with crusade was the first 2 days afterI unlocked it. Finished hard mode every day since it opened.

The main trick is PAUSING the fight and retreating if you lose someone you cant afford to lose. Its as ifthe battle never happened.

Other than that, my first 3 or 4fights in every crusade are just used to fill the super bar on all my heroes so its ready for tje harder levels. Phoenix is a beast, but I only use him on 14/15 and 15/15 so that he's always ready.

Most of the time, I use deathknight, ember blade, cloud walker, chaplain and commando.

Retreating and trying a different team comp is the most important part, though

Does raising stars give more stat boost than promoting?
They're not really that comparable.

Evolving (raising stars) gives all stats

Promoting unlocks equipment slots and skills (which don't always give all stats) and instead give better mods like magic pen which act as multipliers.

It's almost always best to focus efforts on getting good heroes to the highest promotion as soon as possible.

----

Lets put it into perspective: My purple +1 frost mage gained 80 to all stats at level 60 when I got her fourth star.

At purple +1 she retained the previous tier of bonuses and then gained roughly 40 all stats on boots alone (after enchanting) and another 40 on 2 other slots fully enchanted (eye and drum). On top of which she gained magic pen - resist and additional int on the remaining item slots the promotion free'd up.

(I always promote asap and work towards stars longterm)

As stated above, stars are not worthless and worth shooting for, but promoting is more important in the long run. I have 1-2 star heroes fully promoted that are just plain boss compared to 4 stars of others.

Some facts:
Evolving only increases basic stats, this does improve advanced stats like attack dmg, crit, hp, etc but only by flat amount. Helpful, no denying that, but not game breaking.

Promoting:
You gain all?(some?) of the stats from the items on the character during promotion AND when you cross a color tier you gain a new skill, which I literally cannot express how valuable that is in this game. obviously some skills are better than others but in general the principle holds for all heroes.

Face a 4 star blue vs. a 3 star purple of the same hero and watch

That's 1 "tier" difference for each side and you'll see an amazing gap. This game is far from perfect, but for whatever reason(poop for a long time?) I like these stupid little "half attention" iphone games such as this and brave frontier.

Bottom line, promote all your heroes the best you can and max their skills. Prioritize as your team and options permit.

Basic tips:

Don't sell exp potions. You need so many at later levels.
Pick 7-10 heroes at first to level and gear. Around level 60 gearing becomes hard. 80+ is a major pain to get orange gear.
80+ it takes so long to level team level, you will have time to level a lot of heroes.
Skill up lower level heroes when you have abit of extra gold.
Use gems only for stamina. Unless you are buying tons of gems it isn't worth it to buy gold/chests/refresh elite bosses.

I usually only buy the first two stamina refresh for 50gems. Do you guys max out the sta refresh?

I do 2, maybe 3 sta purchases a day. As long as I get the elite instances done for all the heroes I want, I don't worry about it right now.

I refresh stamina as much as I can with the money card and my VIP level yea, pretty much use all stamina to run elites for souls though sometimes I swap to normal campaign mode to advance chapters and open up some purple loot.

And yes, def. save your xp pots. That's my biggest issue right now

It never even occurred to me to sell exp potions. Now that I think about it I don't sell anything and buy out the merchant (except the bad soul stones and exp potions) every refresh.

15/15 crusade brings in like 1.5mil gold so there's no reason to sell unless you really need extra cash for merc purchase or whatever. In which case I just sell stones of heroes I'm never going to use or just go raid booty caves for a half hour.

I think I'll max out stamina with the normal x2 drops the next few days at least. And today was nice had x2 Nedan Bone Chests and Vengeance Spirit /x30SS drop in crusade. Was able to finally promote both Commando and Warchief. I think I even had SS Mystic from bronze chest.

So I have been playing for a month or two and just hit 52.

I am currently using the following; all maxed.
3 Star Commando (Purple)
3 Star Light Ele (Blue)
3 Star Phx (Blue)
2 Star War Chief (Blue)
2 Star Death Mage (Blue)
1 Star Chaplin (Blue) Working on elites to two star

Should I still worry about the Admiral, Lighting Master? I am going after stones for Old Curse, Brute, Death Knight.

I see alot of people using EMber Blade, Wind Master, and handfull of others. So my question is, are there any other heroes I should be going after or possibly already have that I should be working on (Example: Ember Blade or Lunar Guardian?)
