Sundering is still a big time ult though, I've turned around team fights and entire matches with it.

That said, Thrall's win rate has plummeted pretty hard since the patch according to hots logs.

Sonya is in a pretty bad place. She has many problems and most of them stem from her not being able to soak any significant damage while not dealing out enough damage to compensate for this problem. She can pubstomp some low tier players (or poorly composed QM teams) who lack any form of reliable interrupt but at the moment her main source of sustained damage and sustained healing will get interrupted the second it is cast. I don't see a compelling reason to choose her over really any other warrior.

She is slated for a rework, though. The last patch was just a retuning of the fury gain/loss system.

Sonya is amazing if you are fighting among a pack of creeps against a team with no stuns... but since that never happens, Sonya sucks.

EU loves Chen this patch, been seeing him and Sonya in a lot of the ESL games and last weeks tournament as well.

Yeah it seems the idea with Chen is to take barrel at 10 to separate off 1-2 players from the 5v5 to suddenly turn it into a 3v5. Chen then has the longevity to stay alive from the two he peels away and will slow them to delay their impact on the main team fight. It is a smart strategy but feels somewhat cute. I've seen it work wonderfully and I've seen it crash and burn.

I agree on the cute part but it has looked hard to counter overall and the times I saw loses it wasn't because of Chen. I will say that most of the time the team running him has like no damage (they might have like, Nazeebo and Tyrande) so going for more of sustain I guess.

I had a good laugh against a team we played last night.. chen was using barrel to separate 2 or 3 people.. then they had falstad with his gust of wind thing push us even further to pick off 2 or 3 people while the other 2 or 3 is half way across the map. It cracked me up

Yeah yesterday El Nexo was running a team with zero assassins. It was Chen & Anub, Uther & Tyrande and Nazeebo. I think that is the game they actually won. Though I can't remember if they took game 3 or not.

They didn't, but it was really close (I just watched the replays over lunch heh, good games). EU overall has been putting up some interesting team comps, I'm looking forward to the NA tourneys this week too see what comes up.

EU is more fun to watch. You can just hear interviews with the NA pro players and they seem very, very closed minded and extremely reluctant to innovate. But everytime I watch an EU match SOMETHING weird as shit happens. For NA really only Barrel Boys and Tempo are very interesting to me.

I agree with all of that, Tempo seems to be far and away best team NA and BB seems to be the ones trying new things. EU side its hard to lock down a "best" team, there are so many that are competitive and as you said a lot of them pull out some really interesting comps/new ideas.

Where are you watching EU competitive games? I subbed to Solid Jake on YouTube for Barrel Boys / Tempo Storm on Kings of the Storm, so I have that end covered

Khaldor is the main lifeline for EU coverage. Though ESL broadcasts on ESL's channel which is what we were talking about above.

I've been playing League since 2010 or so. Friend of mine wants me to give this game a whirl, and as it turns out I've got beta access. So, I'm downloading the game now and plan on checking it out this evening. Any useful tips or advice before I dive in? I hope to pick up on game quickly, since I've been playing League for so long. Will my experience there translate well to this game?

Tips for starting heroes, etc are all welcome. I've read back a number of pages in the thread, so have seen discussion about some of the heroes. Note, I didn't buy the Fouder's Pack. My guess is that I'll just be using champions in the free rotation.
