Lots of stuff
I mostly agree. I do feel its rather simple and I'm not sure what would add that more competitive feel. They did have artifacts at one point but they were poorly implemented. They almost need a skill tree or something similar (like League) because the lack of items really hurts that individual satisfaction. Its like they were so worried about catering to casuals, they didn't realize that so many people play League/Dota/Smite/etc combined with items/skill trees/other shit that maybe the genre NEEDS something other than just heroes and their abilities.

The tournaments currently have map striking for choosing multiple maps on "pro" games. It works differently with different factors though so I won't go into detail. Though games like Counterstrike deal with it so I'm sure its doable. I do agree queuing for individual maps in matchmaking could cause problems. Maybe just choose 1-2 maps you don't want to play?

All I know is out of my group of 8, 4 have it and haven't touched it yet. Though only myself and another really want to try it and we don't have it yet.

Lastly Blizzard, pls fix gold gain before I get into Alpha. Thanks <3

I think good angle would be to present the game as something you can play with your friends, one plays starcraft, the other diablo and the third one WoW, so you can all pick a hero from your franchise and just fuck around for a few games. As it is right now, unless you want to be pro, the game exists entirely around making other numbers go up with very little staying power, but if Blizzard goes really evil and let's you unlock WoW mounts or SC2 portraits for playing HotS and vice versa ...

Talents basically are items. The only real difference is they are all pre-defined for your character already. Level4 Envenom. It is basically a clicky item. Level20 bolt. Basically blink dagger. But unlike the other games is that it isn't the most boring thing in the universe to play a 5 slot getting zero farm because everyone is guaranteed to obtain talents at the same rate regardless of position. I very much disagree with the "no spike" difference. Try taking a team fight and your team is level 15 and the opposing team is level 16. The difference is massive. Level 16 talents, generally, are a huge DPS gain.

And in the future I can only assume they'll get rid of blind map. Move to something more like AP from DOTA or even a draft version. Only issue I would see with draft is hero selection and having to know which heroes each person has on the team.

I've changed my Tychus build a bit over to this

Heroes of the Storm (Heroes) Builds Guides, wiki, database and forums. Heroes Hero Build Guides on HeroesFire Wiki!

It is different for sure. I think I need to get better use out of Melting Point in my games because towards the latter part it does 1k damage to structures. However it is really nice because most people don't expect Tychus with QB and underestimate the damage/displacement of his grenade. It is fun but not 100% convinced it is better than vampire/searing. At least vamp/searing is far, far better for dueling.

Thing is, Dota is moving away from the brown boots support archetype, the only time you see it is when you are losing really badly. LoL never really had it. You won't be running around 6-slotted, but you can definitely grab an item or two.

I always felt that grouping up early isn't really optimal, unless the other team is pushing hard or you meet at some objective ? Maintaining presence in all lanes to suck all that sweet xp felt more important

Is it possible to invite someone to the alpha / buy this? If so anyone interested? PM me!

Just played it at a friends house and seems pretty fun.

Ok so after my... erm... one game... this is my first impression:

Everything is super polished and it even looks better than SC2, considering it's the SC2 engine. Everything seemed awesome until it was explained to me that NO ITEMS, however the talents which pop up every few levels seem to take the place of that. Looks like they want to remove anything which is tedious, so long walks from base/buying items/assigning skill points are gone so you can focus on just killing things.

I liked that the map isn't the DOTA map yet again, it seemed similar to the Aeon of Strife map with the mini bases, which was my favorite over DOTA back in the day. I just ignored the creeps and pushed my lane, Raynor's tower ammo destroying passive just let me wail on a tower until it was down. The Q ability with the aoe line knockback was amazing, just kept DPSing down the enemy heroes then knocked them back before the kill. Ended up 9-0 with only moderate League of Legends skill. The enemy players seemed kind of bad, don't know how the match making works but my friend has a few lv4 heroes.

The microtransaction prices are INSANE. All the level up bonuses and quests seem fine though.

There are 4 maps btw.

Also #1 fun times in HOTS is shootin 3s and killing people from downtown on Azmodan.

Hopefully this gets addressed along with the gold gain before beta.

As I sit here with some free time here an there, I realize the reason I'm mainly excited for HotS is the 20 minute games. I just don't have time for 40+ Dota games or even if I do and the game is shitty I felt like I wasted a lot of time. Most games don't give you the full experience in that short amount of time.

I wouldn't mind the prices of the skins/mounts being fairly high if the heroes were basically free. But at the moment I find it very difficult to spend $10 on a hero. I'll pay that much for a skin I really like for a hero I like but I'm not going to effectively pay $20 for a hero+skin.

They had a ton of bundles with hero + skin the week after alpha came back for like 11-12 bucks. Seemed okay to me, picked up Azguldan. They took them back out though for some reason.

They put every bundle they've ever offered on the store for that week. I also bought a few of them. But the bad/stupid part is there was just so much overlap between the bigger bundles.
