How often do you push with mercs really? Sometimes you'll defend some ogres, but that is usually about it.

I was wondering about that, good to know.
At a high level game pushing with mercs is fairly common. Assuming all things equal a 5v5 will be a relative stalemate. So if you have mercs on your side you can push with 5 and still accomplish something like taking down some towers. At low level games I agree it is fairly common to "cap and flee" but that doesn't mean it is the correct or even best way to play.

75g per win on ranked with Stimpack. Probably a worthwhile $10 investment if you plan on playing a decent amount. Not even including it makes talent gating up heroes in solo queue coop much, much faster.

Oh yeah, stimpacks are huge & nice. Only had time for a couple games with thrall before Woacraft raidtimes but he seems to be pretty damn sweet.

I am loving Thrall using a full WF build like someone had mentioned before. On the garden map not only did I solo the top garden boss but I also killed 2 people trying to come stop me and I basically lost no health. Good times.

As long as you don't get blown up by Nova or some other near insta-kill or just get CC'd 100 to 0 than Thrall has insane staying power. Though if the other team is smart than they'll save a CC and Thrall is doodoo.

Fairly common? I guess the high end meta has changed a lot then in the past 2 months because I just skimmed through eg vs cloud9 again and they almost never pushed with mercs, I saw cloud9 do it once so I don't think it was an intentional lets push with mercs, more like lets just push this lane. Cloud9 being up the entire time basically used them to secure objectives and eg being behind used them just to push lanes out while defending somewhere else.

Not saying its a bad strat or that it doesn't happen, but it definitely does not make merc lord change a buff. Even if you push with 50% of camps, which even that I'm not so sure of, it is still a net nerf because sure sometimes camps get capped by mistake or if the merc lord hero isn't around, but if you have merc lord and your team caps over 50% of camps w/o you; not only you're doing something wrong on your own by not mercing, but you also have a bunch of mentally challenged persons on your team if they purposefully tried to cap camps w/o merc lord.

As you said before merc lord wasn't that good before, it certainly isn't good enough to warrant taking now.

People have been saying this but every game I've played vs Thrall I've been on a ranged assassin and I've been shitting on him. Then again these people also seem to be whiffing their root wolf 100%. I could see him being very scary against tank heavy comps though.

this game is fun, the requirement for ranked seems a bit out there I got that starter bundle for 5$ why not and the 6 cheapest heroes are 20k together, and I have 5k gold and im lvl 9 so figure that 30 day stim pack is worth it so hopefully if I put in 6-7 games a day ill hit those requirements soon, is there a site that has some basic guides readily available?

Nazeebo (WD) and Azmodan are good. Gazlowe is bad for nearly everyone unless you got the team and map that supports it.

Bribe is okay sometimes but usually there are better talents. Same thing with mercenary lord, but they just changed it so it may be a little better now. These talents are probably better in specific push lineups.
Mercenary lord change was a straight up nerf wasn't it? They only get the bonus when the hero w/ merc lord is nearby?, I doubt anyone will take it now since camps are usually advantageous when you push another lane while mercs push a lane. Most heroes have a better talent to take then bribe, only a couple of supports I think didn't have much better to take, all the specialists have something better.
I like all 3 of those specialists, nazeebo is definitely the best of the 3 in teamfights and gazlowe the least useful, but gazlowe is probably the best pve of the 3 w/ his turrets and you can also use his turrets to zone ppl out of objectives.

Also, abathur seems really strong now, even his early game seems rediculous. Played a game last night and early game was me on uther and a thrall against thrall/aba and their thrall was able to push to our towers while we focused just him and his health barely moved and never went below 80%. That might also have something to do with thrall's passive being op.
Thanks, I'll start with Nazeebo then.

So the current implementation of ranked is pretty fucking stupid. The 1-100 doesn't really work for a game like this IMO. Not only that but you gain +200 points per win and like -60 points per loss. So as long as you maintain around like 30/70 W/L you can achieve rank 1 by just playing a fuckton of games. I do like the pre-game draft even if most people don't listen and still YOLO pick. I prefer when I'm drafting last on my team since I can play all three roles fairly well. I dlslike picking first since I feel I'm basically forced into going Tychus.

Think I've only done 4 as well. Tychus, Valla, Arthas, Brightwing. I've only played maybe 10 games though.

I haven't done ranked yet, what rank are you now? Could it be possible you're getting so many points on a win because of a hidden pool to get you at the mmr lvl you're supposed to be quicker?

I've heard reports of possibly some people getting +100 for a win and -80 for a loss. I'm only (I think) rank 48. But I've seen streamers who are experiencing the same point distribution. Sold1er has a post about it on the heroes sub already.

I love the drafting thing thus far. Fun to actually have somewhat of a say in the comp. Assassins have been picked right away, so I usually pick Malf if no one goes support. I do like playing Arthas but not always super confident about playing a warrior. I'd really like to try Sgt Hammer... I've been in two games now where hammer has been the unsung hero, defending a strong top lane push and basically winning us the game.

Hammer is fairly map dependent. Personally I hate Hammer on Curse. I'd probably hate her on the new map if I ever got to play it. However on maps like Blackheart she is great. Basically maps that require not a whole lot of running from point A to point B.

I think I need to add a melee DPS to my list of heroes. I guess Arthas kind of fits that role with how I build him but I think someone more traditional. Maybe Kerrigan or Thrall.

I know illidan isn't one of the top rated heroes, but I surprisingly had a lot of fun playing him lvling him to 5. I was thinking about making him my 10th hero, but I have a few assassins already and only 1 specialist. That is when I realized there are no 2k specialists and only 1 4k specialist, gazlowe, which is arguably the weakest, I still like him anyway though.

I need to relearn Abathur but I am already pretty comfortable with Nazeebo and Hammer for my spec role. I also need to buy/learn Uther since BW is the only support I can play at a decent level. Maybe just learn Malf since I already own him. But I can buy Uther with just gold now. My hero pool I'm comfortable with is fairly shallow it really only includes: Arthas, BW, Muradin, Nazeebo, Raynor, Hammer, Stitches, Tychus, Valla, Zeratul.
