So, what are the "Must Have" mods right now?

I see this game taking over the modding scene that Skyrim has held onto for a decade. People already makign multi-player mods and re-skins of nearly everything. I'm expecting that eventually people will make ALL the areas of Harry Potter available via mods.

Find the one that turns everyone into white hetereosexual males and females with that voice fix for that idiot bartender and then stream it.

So, 71hrs (several were probably afk) and 99% Field Guide, have to wait to for the fix to the Biscuit quest. A really good game, but maybe too many studios working on too many aspects of the game for the main studio to really put together smoothly. I'll give it a solid 8/10, with its silly wokeness and poor difficulty balance keeping it from being higher.

Why do you care about that? It’s made up. Yes slaves have existed throughout history in real life but having mystical slaves in a pretend story…why care about this?

Nearly any fantasy series you read is going to have caste systems of some form, slavery, hierarchy’s in social status, etc.
I'm no Harry Potter lore nerd but the concept of house elves is pretty gross. Fantasy slaves like familiars, elementals etc is common as you say, but House Elves are portrayed as the most pitiable version in that they are generally mistreated, love being mistreated and would hate to be set free. They're little more than a plot device for the protagonists to help, but in the grander Potterverse like in Hogwarts Legacy you just have to accept that you have this sapient creature who lives to do tasks that don't need doing because magic can do them instead.

But it's not just the house elves that don't make sense. Between the repair spell and the item disappearance spell, why does Hogwarts employ a full time custodian??? ANY physical labor service job is completely redundant once you introduce magic into a setting.

It actually makes sense in the Potter universe given their nature - and they actually wanted to be a house elf.

What, you think Santa's elves don't want to make toys? They live for that shit :)

There's a couple amusing things in this realm in the books, as they are a 100% completely subservient race. Doctor Who had an alien race similar, where their motto was "If you had enslaved us, you'd be home for dinner already" or something. They literally live to serve, whether they are mistreated or not is unknown (as you only ever see 2 assholes with them).

Also in the strange realm, in HP2: Chamber of Secrets, the 'cure' for a basilisk petrifying you requires waiting for a sentient plant to mature (specifically described as when they start climbing into each others pots) to basically crush/stew them up.

House Elves are incredibly powerful sentient magic users that are kept and traded as slaves and there's really no way to redeem this aspect of the canonical lore

I never read the books, my wife did, I only watched the movies and I agree 100%. It makes no sense, I assume MAYBE the books explained it a bit better. They were vastly stronger with magic to the point of breaking plot-points (or creating them). I just always penned it as, "This is a book and series for Children" the fact that adults enjoyed it doesn't change the fact that there are a bunch of plot-points that break under the slightest scrutiny. She did an amazing job creating interest in this but she really needs to flesh out the lore for the world a ton.

Those mods are probably banned.

It makes me wonder how easy doing things like changing voices would be. I don't have the patience ATM to mess with it though.

It is odd when you think about how a wave of your wand gets the hedges trimmed, you see animated hammers pounding anvils, picks mining away, brooms sweeping (don’t remember animated dust pans but I don’t pay that much attention). As well as the aforementioned vanish spell that comes in handy. But yeah - plot devices and so on.

I'm honestly more uncomfortable with the house elf stuff in this game (and Wizarding World in general) than I am the JK Rowling or Goblin=Jews business.

House Elves are incredibly powerful sentient magic users that are kept and traded as slaves and there's really no way to redeem this aspect of the canonical lore. The whole notion of historical myth about magical helper spirits and the hidden people of icelandic folklore could have been woven in a bunch of different ways that didn't involve 'simple' minded creatures dressed in rags.
Hermione tried to free the Elves in the books. She was hiding clothing under trash and shit. What happened? The Elves refused to clean Hogwarts. Dobby ends up working on the Hogwarts kitchen because he wants to be paid now and only Dumbledore would do that. Dobby was also shunned by the others Elves after that. Hagrid, when asked about why the Elves weren't free, said that it was a lot more complicated than what Hermione was trying to do.

Which is why that subplot never made it into the films.

It's just like real life, really the inventors liked being slaves, now they don't know what to do, with themselves and just commit crime and reproduce.

Obviously the Elves are just imbecilic heathens who don't realize how good Democracy is. We will continue to wage war to bring Democracy to every people in the world. Any people who values their own way of life as superior or ideal to Democracy is obviously wrong.

i took house elves to be like mythological fae. they have a 'nature' they can't violate. and it's fucked up, and leads to them living like weirdos. but its the only way they can live. they love it.

fae are like mystical AI robots. thats just how they be.

Imagine a psychological thriller where Santa is a maniacal tyrant that has enslaved a race of magical beings, genetically engineered them to like subservience. They are immortal and don't breed, so just adhere to a miserable life for all eternity to create joy that they will never experience.
