But thats as an average. Take that $150K and live in the good part New York or South Cali and you will get buy but struggle. Now take that $150K and move to Tennessee somewhere and you can live like a king.Exactly what Cad said. And lol @ Khane saying $150k income is a modest salary. That's near the top 5% ofhouseholdincomes across the US. Guess we need to add Khane to the lendarios 7 figure list.
Umm, I never said it was a modest salary overall. I said it was a modest salary in places like Midtown Manhattan...Exactly what Cad said. And lol @ Khane saying $150k income is a modest salary. Okay, then what do you think is a great tech salary if 150k is modest/good? 250k? 300k? Because 250-300k you're looking at very senior mgr / director / C level of large business. There's not a whole lot of those people out there. If that's your qualification for a "great" salary, then my point stands. I think even in Manhattan or San Fran, a $150k salary is pretty great. Maybe I'm way off and everybody who lives there takes home 30 grand a month.Modest probably still isn't the right word. 150k is still a good salary, but it's not a "great" salary in areas like that.
6,000 square feet on a half acre lot to fill with stuff.I cannot conceive of ever needing a million dollar home. Jesus.
it isn't great. I would tell a headhunter to fuck off if they offered me 150k in Manhattan. A great salary in those areas is options and retarded bonuses that would make me consider moving. Like 400K+. Because living in areas like that isn't worth it otherwise.Okay, then what do you think is a great tech salary if 150k is modest/good? 250k? 300k? Edit - also I should qualify we're talking about tech positions, right? Sr Engineer, Architect, Big Data, etc. We're not talking about hedge fund managers and lawyers. I guess my numbers earlier were apples to oranges.

You probably need at least 500k if you want to support a family in Manhattan and have them actually live in Manhattan. 3 bedroom apartment will run you $150k/year minimum in Manhattan.Okay, then what do you think is a great tech salary if 150k is modest/good? 250k? 300k? I feel like I've seen a popular drama about this...You probably need at least 500k if you want to support a family in Manhattan and have them actually live in Manhattan. 3 bedroom apartment will run you $150k/year minimum in Manhattan.
So many people that work in Manhattan put their family up in a house outside the city and themselves live in a studio apartment during the week. You can't commute because it's two hours each way due to congestion. And with Wall Street working hours, they literally see their families one day a week. It's depressing.
It's not luxury living but238 East 14th St. in East Village, Manhattan | StreetEasy3 bedroom apartment will run you $150k/year minimum in Manhattan.
Well, 170k if they don't pay taxes/SS/invest in a retirement fund.So considering housing should be no more than 1/3 of your monthly income, person renting that apartment would have to make about $170,000 per year to live there comfortably.
Probably, but also consider you don't need a car, car insurance, gas, etc in Manhattan. So you can spend a little more on housing. So considering housing should be no more than 1/3 of your monthly income, person renting that apartment would have to make about $170,000 per year to live there comfortably.
In the middle of CT. Expensive but not nearly as expensive as Manhattan.Where do you live now Khane?
No vehicle needed but there is a city tax and subway/taxi/bus rides add up.Probably, but also consider you don't need a car, car insurance, gas, etc in Manhattan. So you can spend a little more on housing.
Manhattan is a great place to visit, but a shitty place to live unless you are the 0.01%.In the middle of CT. Expensive but not nearly as expensive as Manhattan.
Yeah, you probably aren't eliminating your car budget, just reassigning it.No vehicle needed but there is a city tax and subway/taxi/bus rides add up.
I like old houses, but that one is merely someone's staged renovation. Beware. Better to buy an old functional house and renovate it yourself. Better to have your own Frankenstein than someone else's.Trying to find a 2 family house to buy in the Boston area is( Budget is ~1.5mil.
In-laws are going to move in with us in order to be closer to decent hospitals for Father in-laws future treatment.
Want something like this but split in 2.

They have clothes in the closet and clothes around the laundry machine. I don't think I've ever seen a stage go so far to put shit in the closet. When I bought my house he said if you ever wonder just check the fridge. If there is shit in the fridge someone is actually living there and it isn't just a stage.I like old houses, but that one is merely someone's staged renovation. Beware. Also, the front and back yards look shitty.
