Schedule 40 for drain pipe, pex is pressure pipe.
Sch 40/80 is a pipe size standard, not a particular material. It can be black carbon steel for gas/heating, galvanized steel or PVC for domestic cold water, CPVC for domestic hot water or heating, yadda yadda. Copper tube size is another standard, as is SDR.

But if you ask any non communist to get you some schedule 40 pipe you know what they're coming back with.

Railings nearing completion. The wire will eat into the wood some on the corners of the stitching. I'm not sure how much it'll do it but next time I'll put washers on them.

Not really, no. That's like saying "hey, I need 1-1/2" pipe". Okay? What material? What usage? Most plumbers would actually assume you're talking about black steel, if you said "Sch 40" to them.

So had the shitty plumber over this morning. He confirmed it was a slab leak and said without testing it sounded like it was right where the line curves up, which makes some amount of sense. He wanted $3200 to run the hot water, told him I'd need to "get estimates" and he left.

Called the good plumber who can't fit it in this week but he told me to get the LIDAR report done and it would probably be more like $600-900 for the replumb. He also said based on the location I may be lucky because it's most likely drained out the sewer trench instead of causing a sinkhole and destroying the house, which is why I haven't seen any issues on the walls or floor there. Have that scheduled tomorrow AM. Going to use the extra time to get him to scan the pool auto-fill line because I'm pretty sure that has a leak in it as well and I can dig under to fix that easy enough.

When you say "converted" do you mean...
1. you put Game Stuff (pool/ping pong/poker table) in there and left the structure as is
2. you have partitioned it out, removed the garage door etc.

If the answer is #1 it will not affect the value, Residential Appraisers do not appraise personal property or how you choose to use/decorate your space. If it is #2 then you might have a problem, feel free to PM with details if you want some help/advice.
Yeah, I built a wall, finished the floor, installed AC and a fan, cut a hole in the wall and put in french doors connecting the garage to the living room. The whole deal. From the outside of the house the garage door is still there, but its been walled in and insulated on the inside. I do still have all the equipment for it in the attic, so I could technically convert it all back to a garage in a weekend if needed. Dear god I don't want to though.

Yeah, that is most likely going to create an issue. Find out if it will be an Interior/Exterior Inspection, or if it will be an Exterior only. Pics would be helpful for me too, I will bounce it off my business partner (30 years experience) to get his take on it.

So had underground detection people out this morning and the second plumber. Leak guy discovered the water lines are almost 50" below the foundation - they were run in the drainage and sewer trench. No possible way to repair... I had him check the pool auto-fill line because I actually thought that one had a small leak as well but turns out there was none, which is I guess some relief.

Anyway plumber doesn't see an easy way to run the pex because of the vaulted ceiling is closed up in the middle and it appears there's no access. He'll have to do something creative but he told me he wouldn't charge me any more than the $600 he quoted and HE suggested he start Saturday morning because "it's not good to be without hot water". So despite the fact that they are spending hours in the attic to fish this thing and work on a holiday weekend, he's not raking me over the coals. I'm kind of in shock. Dude's just an upstanding neighborhood master plumber. I think I'm going to offer to help him out with some BPE and see if I can't help him save some time on the back end because this is the second time he's done shit for me for cheap - he also re-plumbed my water softener loop for free because he didn't like the quality of the original install.

That's pretty amazing, all things considered, these days. It's rare to meet a genuinely good person who wants to help, rather than a selfish, greedy bastard.

I'll wait for the conclusion before showering praise. He'll probably run in under a row of shingles and in through the bathroom vent.

Finished the deck finally, rained a couple days in between. Didn't come out as great as I hoped and the color was way different than we hoped but it's good enough. Try to get a couple pics later.

About to embark on installing hardware in the kitchen cabinets. Any words of wisdom? Should I get one of those installation stencil guides or just hand measure?

Also some of our doors never closed right so I had to hack engineer rhe door frames to drop the metal part on the frame the door connects with to close, sorry for my lack of vocabulary. I had to carefully chisel/carve out about 1cm down in the frame from where it was. What's my best plan to fill in the wood that it used to sit in. Good ol wood glue and toothpick slurry?

I don't want her around anyways because I just hung up pictures in the room with her and she changed her mind after i already made holes in the wall. Then she got emotional about how terrible our nursery is compared to magazines. She can stay the fuck out of the kitchen. She don't cook anyways.

Khane that was the worst thing I've ever read.

Yeah, get a template, although you shouldn't need one and should be keeping all the holes in the same spot to avoid a fuckpile of work.

Any templates you could recommend? I went hard mode and we're installing bars instead of knobs. We have to use 3 sizes because a few of the drawers and cabinets are much smaller
