Yeah stupid dishwasher started the chain reaction for us….

I do still love my induction cooktop stove. Just wish I got the step up with knobs not button. Stupid star trek keypad

The fridge does not get that “cold” but LG support says its running as it should.

Dishwasher - I should have read more- it does not have a heating element- the water jet blades are designed to also be “fan” blades and it just blow dries after a quick hot rinse at the end…ain’t that bad..

The microwave is awesome - only one I have ever owned that can actually do its programmed “menu” properly. Popcorn- perfect, melted butter good- soften butter, not melted! Pizza, not molten.

And because I always have deal FOMO- i checked Black Friday and every sale after - and the deal combo I got is still the best price for the sets since. 2600 for all 4.

Nope… opened it up and a kid sippy cup straw was stuck in the float valve thing preventing it from filling with water. Slipped it out, quick cycle, works fine. Guess it saved us some $$$.

yea ever since my trauma w/ the dishwasher, even when i repaired it now and it has been working 100%, i still press "start" and wait for the tub to fill up and hear stuff go spin spin

I havent used my dishwasher in over a year, probably. I live by myself and cook roughly the same shit all the time for my meal plan. Takes all of a minute and a half to wash the dishes I use daily. Wondering after this conversation if I should just run a load of dishes just to make sure the thing doesnt get stale parts or some other random nonsense.

You should run it once a month at least. Put some vinegar in, possibly a very small amount of bleach. It's going to stink the first time you run it, and you'll probably want to run it a second time initially. But yeah, run it. It will prevent the water in the trap from evaporating and will keep things in working order.

I dunno, that's how I check for gas leaks. What's going to happen? The gas that is leaking is being burned off, the fire is not going to travel in to the pipes and explode all over the house, and you know precisely where the leak is. Turn the gas off, fix it, rinse and repeat.

Looks like it worked just fine. Soapy water works fine too though, and less chance of setting your house on fire.

OK, So I wrapped up the "reseal the travertine shower" project. Question I have now is how long to let the new sealer cure before use. Bottle says 24-72 hours for a complete cure, but "Can be used in 8 hours". I could see 8 hours for something which would have minimal water contact like a countertop, but a shower? That's more full immersion action, right?

Curious what you guys think this might be

We had stamped concrete poured in September. Didn't really use the patio because when my deck was finally done it was November. I inspected when it was done and it looked great.

Finally starting to go out there now and I notice this 2x2" area is chipped bad. Pulling the chip off and it's dirt/sand underneath and soft to the touch. The entire pad is supposedly 8 inches deep and my walkway is definitely that deep.

My first thought is the mix here was not good and it got fucked when they poured it. Winter mustve had water/ice creep in and lift it.

I called the company to see if they can take a look but they're already kind of wishy washy about what they can do for this.

Tough to tell but the hole is about 1/4" deep.

I'd say to dig out whatever is loose/soft and see if it's really a hole through, or just as you suspected a poorly mixed area. Once you know that patching shouldn't be too difficult.

That's what I'll end up doing but I want to first see if they'll come out and try to do something. I don't want to disturb it before they see it.

Any ideas the best way to patch this? I don't care about texture matching or anything, but I know nothing about this stuff

I'd say... Off the top of my head, looking at the size, of that :
  1. Get a piece of modelling clay that hardens in air (like sculpee) big enough to cover it well
  2. Lay a piece of plastic wrap over a good corner
  3. Press the clay on top to make an "image" of a good corner. Set this aside and let it dry
  4. Mix a small batch of mortar, color match as best you can, this will probably be the trickiest part if it was dyed/stained concrete.
  5. Put into affected area
  6. Use clay with the plastic wrap on the bottom to press down and get the form right.
