Re-watched Child's play. I was super scared of this movie when I was a kid. Now I'm like, WTF this is a comedy

Taking a little liberty with the notion that everyone dies with this list. Maybe it is ambiguous, or settled in a sequel, maybe they wanted to die, etc. Regardless these are in the vein of what you were requesting at the start of the thread.

The Mist
Masters of Horror: Cigarette Burns
The Night of the Living Dead
1408: Director's Cut
Candyman
The Autopsy of Jane Doe
Silent Hill
The Thing (1982)
Phantasm
Fallen
Invasion of the Body Snatchers (1978)
The Witch
The Skeleton Key
The Exorcism of Emily Rose
Veronica

More horror you say? Its the back half of October! Our horror marathon is in full swing at our house and I have some new shit to recommend!

Best horror of 2024! Watch this movie!

My wife hates spiders so this was a real treat for me to make her watch. Its good fun. Criteria achieved!

Body Horror! Disease! Amazing Makeup! Gore to the Max!

I REALLY liked this. Nic Cage is always a treat and he leaned into this hard. Occult Silence of the Lambs? Kinda sorta but its great

My pick for Comedy Horror this year. Kid actor is going places

Cronenberg. Guess what you will watch. No really guess.

This movie is gross. I loved it

Texas Chainsaw Massacre redone. Its pretty good.

If all studio horror was this good no one would make fun of it. Its not perfect but for shit you watch in the theater they knocked it out of the park

Grindhouse Horror. Stick it out, it pays off at the end.

Alien horror but its very very creative. The third act is a real treat.

Ill preface this by saying this is NOT scary. But its Mike Flanagan who I will always shout out and he made a GOOD sequel to The Shining. An Impossible task but the fucker did it. Watch Directors Cut.

Maybe too diverse for this crowd, but reddit got me to watch it. Its honestly really good.

Probably a perfect 50's monster movie remake. Young and Old, Man or Woman. Noone is safe from...

And finally...The grossest horror movie. Yes Cronenberg exists, and yes Terrifer exists. But this beats them all. It made the MPAA leave the room! and it finally made its way back as a rewatch this year and I forgot how bad it gets lmao. The foregin (Braindead) version is what you want. Its on Youtube here:

I am really not a huge horror guy, but I remember a couple that were fun watches in my younger years.

Pumpkinhead is such a great creature feature. Great Stan Winston special effects.

I've seen everything on this list but New Life and Infinity Pool. I keep putting Infinity Pool off for some reason.

Three more for the pile based on last nights viewing

Horror Comedy Sci-Fi with voice acting from International Hollywood Superstar Rich Evans!?!!? I actually found it pretty fun and its kid friendly too

Somehow missed this over the years. Its low budget and found footage but its got some good scares and was entertained

The 4th movie in the Hell House universe (we skipped 2 and 3 due to bad reviews but they didnt seem to be required). Skip if you hate clowns.

I watched Infinity Pool last night and am not quite sure how to describe it. I enjoyed it but it is out there and very Cronenberg. It works really well as a sci fi idea and then layering the horror on top of it pretty much works, but not completely for me. It is a style of weird film I enjoy but maybe not the style of horror. If that makes any sense. Overall I’d give it a 6.8/10 and maybe give it a second watch.

Interestingly I also watched Barbarian the night before. Enjoyed that as well for different reasons. It was more straightforward and thought they did well with the setting. Probably wouldn’t watch it again but it was worth seeing once at least.

The funny part is that I randomly pick two movies that have scenes of adults breastfeeding.

Best scene of that movie is where pumpkinhead is walking through the abandoned church, and the lighting is just so great. That movie still holds up other than some cheesy cliches here and there.

Speaking of Lance whatever his last name is, has anyone watched his Cujo knock off Man's Best Friend lately? Lol

Looking for some good recommendations - i've gone through most of the yearly list on reddit - ideally it would be movies where people DONT survive, enough of that shit - I do like found footage but i think i've seen 90% of them if not all.

Revenge is one a lot of people slept on. Survival/horror. Terrific soundtrack. Main character is gorgeous. She survives a murder attempt in the wilderness and then has to go full Tomb Raider to survive. She becomes a total bad-ass by the end and all of it is earned. Some pretty neat survival methods are employed as well. Probably the best movie I've seen lately. Also it's by the same woman who made The Substance. Pretty sure she hates men, but it's okay. I recommend this one.
