I don't really earn that much money in my job under 50k (43k) which in London is nothing. I could technically get 50% more working in the private sector. There's 3 main reasons that I don't, firstly my job is a 5 min bike ride from my front door. Secondly I pretty much don't have anyone breathing down my neck and my work environment is very relaxed which is unusual for healthcare. Thirdly the pension is one of the best in the UK. Also I can pretty much take a laptop/headset and work from home anytime I want to.
I'd rather lose some cash than go into work every day fucking miserable where all my coworkers are a pain.
I bought my 3 bedroom house in London in 1994 for 82k , had it valued in Jan 18 and it was valued at 875-925k - been mortgage free for over a year now.

Glad someone brought up net worth. Base income doesn't take this into account. I'll happily discuss income, but not comfortable listing my net worth. That's what separates folks. I'm totally following you with your watch investments, you can generally rely on a consistent 5%+ return on watch purchases if you're smart about your purchases. It's one of those things that will have a reliably positive ROI. Like gold....a safety deposit box or two filled with gold bars. Having investments is when you clearly transition from middle to upper class in my mind.

I live in a modest 2400 sq ft home, not even on the "nice" street of my neighborhood, even though I make more than the people who live on that street. I've spent a ton on remodeling the interior, cabinetry, kitchen countertops, bathrooms, flooring, pool, etc, and am pending five more projects (kitchen floors, quartzite slab for my kitchen table, converting a closet to a wet bar, stain and stamp concrete around pool, and a pergola.) I drive a modest vehicle, a F-150 platinum, and have one rolex, a sea-dweller, that was a gift. If you're dying to see them I'll happily post pics. However, if I post pics, and you fail to post anything (multiple pages of your tax return) that proves your annual income, then you by default admit you are a complete liar and have sex with trannies.
