90% gross margin, and capex less than 1% of revenues were the numbers that jumped out at me.

Ability to drive margin by selling data to Google and the market potentially seeing them as the next Meta (which they’re not) is a pretty compelling bull thesis imo. Growth, esp. international, is a concern though.
It's a forum, how much capex should it have?

Ability to drive margin isn't a metric. The market potentially seeing them as the next Meta isn't a metric.
Gross margin at 90% isn't a standout. They are a forum. Their COGS should be tiny because they don't manufacture anything. As I mentioned previously, look at their non-COGS expense ratio

Dang, I swear I saw it on the balance sheet somewhere. Thank you for clearing that up.
Anytime.

You mentioned it's an impressive business because of its numbers.

"It is quite the impressive business, when you look at the numbers."

I looked at its financials and disagreed based on its balance sheet, income statement and statement of cash flows.

You respond back with things that aren't actually numbers. I mention those things aren't numbers and you get sarcastic.

Dude, IDGAF whether you throw money at it or not. It's your money. You mentioned the stock and asked about it. If you disagree and think it's impressive then go long. I hope I'm wrong and you make tendies.

Happy Thanksgiving

It’s okay man. I didn’t ask you the question, and, respectfully, I don’t care about your opinion.

My bad for responding to you. I apologize.

Take care.

It's a bullshit suit.
If you're essentially a giant retirement fund working with a 30+ year time horizon, it's perfectly reasonable to get your investments as far away from coal as possible.
"Number must go up" and coal's days are numbered no matter what you think about politics in the short term.

China building a billion coal plants a year days are totally numbered lol

edit nm see you’ve already been embarrassed, nobody even had to mention cleaner coal tech.

Just a blip in the night. Same highs it reached on the 25th. I picked up a short on it at 25.31 and its already back down to ~25. See what people do when they get back from Lunch I guess.

Thing with INTC is its book value is higher than its market cap. Shit management has had a negative $5b impact. I would take care shorting it below its book value.

I shouldnt have said it like that. My trade is good, Im confident in that - feels like I have to justify my trades all the time so Im defensive about it. It keeps on ticking down and Im glad Im not on the other side of the coin atm since it just hit 24.30. But definitely tell me where you see market cap on your platform and I'll look into learning about it. I still use Etrade and it lets me map and plot trends just as well as other platforms that cost a hell of a lot more than 3 bucks per month.

No worries, I didn't take it poorly.

So tldr: Market cap is number of shares outstanding * share price. Hypothetically if they could all be bought at the same time for that price its the market value of the company. Book value on the other hand is the value of a company if it closes the doors and sells everything off. So in INTC's case, its foundries are worth a fortune alone. So when you see market cap below the book value it means the market has currently valued the company for less than its stuff is worth if you just sold it all off. My warning was because conditions like this do happen, but they tend to correct themselves in time. Notice in the chart it bottomed and is heading back toward a price to book ratio of 1.0

I'd second the be careful shorting/betting INTC will drop further. It is the lowest it has been in 5 years, has held the 22$ line fairly well and the 100/200DMA are both starting to straighten out. If anything, the technicals indicate it may turn upward soon. If it does drop more, it will not be more than a dollar or so and for a temporary timeframe.

I think below is what Sanrith is talking about. Market Cap/Enterprise Value

Yea, I had to look into it. Etrade doesnt offer the study for Market to Book, so I had to do it the old fashioned way. At least I think Im looking in the right place for it. Its at 23.60 atm, from 25.31. For whatever reason, ~25-25.50 has been its high and a safe time to short it theoretically, from what Ive seen. 590 shares being short at the moment, so its not some killer pay day. But thats a ~1000 gain in the time we've talked about this.

Grats! Great read on the charts and good timing :) I wouldn't let that one rest too long however, best take your profits and find something better!

What's the quote Sanrith Descartes Sanrith Descartes always posts, "pigs get fat hogs get slaughtered"? I've turned into a bit of a paper-hands bitch on my more speculative plays.

Man, this year has been nuts. We're up almost 6 full years of expenses.

Which is wild, because the first year we were down about 4 and a half years of expenses. In fact, we basically started 2024 at exactly the same net worth as we retired with at the end of 2021.
