It's oil... Not energy.

I don't invest in oil.

Are there any energy ETFs? That invest in nuclear, hydro, nat gas, everything?

So thoughts on TSLA. I own a few shares. I am once again in the green. I am thinking it might be a decent play to start shuffling in and out of the position to take advantage of the volatility. Not wait until it has a 25 or 30% runup but maybe smaller like trading the +10% to -10% range (or even the +5% to -5%). The way this stock swings it could almost be a weekly trade. Thoughts for those who have been in it for a lot longer than I have?

Looking at the last month, there were at least three dips followed by a 5%+ gain, so looks like a good strategy. Hardest part as always will be timing the bottom, but more opportunities increases your chances.

How can we interpret the super high volume PLTR is trading at? I mean its higher than apple today. All those employees dumping all the stock they are allowed to followed by people jumping in/out or what? And what is with this downward pressure on it?

I get the volatility. I have no clue about the volume. Yesterday well was over 300 million shares.

edit: for context ASAN, the other direct IPO that launched yesterday is tracking nearly the same. it also broke below its open and is trading about 30% above its expected price whie PLTR is trading about 28.5% above its expected price.

I wouldn't pay much attention to it for awhile, it takes awhile for shares to change from the hands of day traders to investors. It will find an equilibrium the volumes will fall dramatically. It's already at a pretty hefty valuation, I'm not personally expecting much in the next 12 months, besides maybe the chance to get more shares if we drop into 7-8s. Company needs to prove that its sales team can expand them into private industry, if they can it will definitely start moving up.

For more active trading, what are the pro/cons of fidelity vs ameritrade? I've read good things about both

i can only speak to Fidelity. I like it. it includes the Active Trader Pro trading platform and a nice app. You can look online and find a demo or other video of the Active Trader Pro. Fees are negligible. oh, and they are grande in size.

I use both, my actual accounts/trades are with fidelity but I use thinkorswim for charting . TOS is a more powerful charting tool , but I have had zero issue with fidelity as a platform .

if someone asked me where to open an account I’d say Fidelity for general investing. You mention active trading (we all define that differently) but if you mean trading daily then I’d pick Td and TOS

Yeah, I meant trading daily. Have some free time and money on my hands that I'd like to put towards generating some extra income. Thanks for the info guys
