IBM is gong to end up this century's Kodak. They absolutely were the computer market at one point. And now they have pissed it all away and just go quarter after quarter of shrinking revenue and growth just doing to same old shit year after year. Its like the company is run by people just trying to keep it afloat so they can retire and be replaced by different people who want it to just survive until THEY retire.

I have brought up semi conductors many times in the past, and also the bleeding edge of ultraviolet lithograph tech. My friend has sworn by this for awhile now and ive watched his account double, and he claims this is just the beginning. Is this on no one else radar? He says ASML is still dirt cheap compared to what is coming. He is (in real life) autistic and knows how to focus on autistic shit like this.

He is slowly convincing me to convert everything into ASML, LAM, and a few more obscure names he claims to have studies long and deeply.

This is not on any of you more "serious" (as compared to the full on WSB people like me) investors radar??

My step mother works for one of the companies who supports their products, they are trying desperately to turn their support people into sales people right now....

I've been reading a few articles lately about a global semiconductor shortage and how automakers are cutting production due to it. How have you made out so far on your current holdings?

I am not in them, but he shows me his account periodically and its more than doubled in the past 12 months. Its hard to follow his ramblings at times, but he says right now its the moment for the component makers that the big semi manufacturers rely on. As in, not Taiwan semi but the people Taiwan desperately relies on themselves. People like Lasertec, for example. (and ASML) he claims these companies have monopoly strangleholds on essential components. He reads the scientific papers and also studies the financials.

As my contribution to our little community ill share more of what he claims and the companies, but was wondering if the full time serious investors here see plausibility on this trail or if it is the ramblings of a deranged autistic mind.

Well their stock speaks for itself, they're currently up a little over 100% since 1/1/20, ASML that is

Yeah and its more than that as far as companies go in this pre-semiconductor supply chain. If you look back in my post history of this thread I have brought up this vein of thought from him many months ago. I hope to god I get over this wsb/spac phase soon, maybe following his "plan" will help break me of it since its much more solid companies that "promise" big gains too.

I just see no one else here talking about semis, much less the monopolistic companies upstream the supply chain from them.

Those are the types of companies that would never be on someone's radar unless they had an in depth knowledge of the industry in the first place. The companies that have a strangehold on patents for the companies that make the stuff that everyone uses.

I remember looking at Universal Display Corporation shortly after the OLED craze started because someone had mentioned them to me. They hold pretty much all the patents for OLED tech and license the tech to all the major screen brands (Samsung, LG, etc). The stock was at like $115 at the time and I thought I missed the boat. Oops!

For me this will be a 456% return and $15k for a two year hold. Sounds pretty good and I am trying to take profit off the table now and again.

Sold some CCIV at 18.75, that LA times article was garbage and didn't tell us anything we didn't already know. I'll buy back in under 18

SVFAU is starting its drift down after the newness has worn off. Another 10% or so down and I will look to take a position.

PG bounce at 130.52 and my limit is once again at 130.50. Its getting sort of comical at this point. I think I did this dance with CRM for like a week before the limit finally hit.
