TSLA is volatile as fuck. It has large swings in price. Those grids on that chart are in $50 increments so each of those down arrows is $50 - $100 in price drop. Be patient and wait for the next drop. I am buying the next drop under $400. If the price somehow stabilizes and we dont see a drop under $400 by January then I will reassess the price target. Also big funds will be locking in profits at the end of the year as well as rebalancing so I expect it to drop before 12/31.

First rule. Dont trade shit until you have read and watched a ton of shit. Practice with fake money trades first. Its not "complex" but it has a lot of angles to understand.

So this is officially my first full month selling puts. The above was with about 30k cash reserved for selling puts, which I pretty much maxed out every week. Made $1967 in premium, which is about 6.6% in one month.

I only had 6 puts actually assigned - Two DAL at 31 which I was able to sell on a call at 33, 1 PLTR at 10 that I sold on a call at 13, 1 NCLH at 16.5 that sold on a 18 call, and 2 CCL at 15 that I sold at 19. I didn't include any of the actual stock sales in the 1967 figure. I started out early on airlines/cruise since they had been flat for months, but the past couple weeks they've been very volatile. I've since moved on to PINS, AMD, SNAP, and PLTR as the bulk of my current puts

So this is officially my first full month selling puts. The above was with about 30k cash reserved for selling puts, which I pretty much maxed out every week. Made $1967 in premium, which is about 6.6% in one month.

I only had 6 puts actually assigned - Two DAL at 31 which I was able to sell on a call at 33, 1 PLTR at 10 that I sold on a call at 13, 1 NCLH at 16.5 that sold on a 18 call, and 2 CCL at 15 that I sold at 19. I didn't include any of the actual stock sales in the 1967 figure. I started out early on airlines/cruise since they had been flat for months, but the past couple weeks they've been very volatile. I've since moved on to PINS, AMD, SNAP, and PLTR as the bulk of my current puts

I had orders for puts on TRIT, PSTH and PLTR that didnt hit today.
I am also short covered calls expiring tomorrow at $36 for DAL that I expect to get assigned.

That face you make when you log in and see TRIT up 7% in the pre-market and think "wow, people are finally catching on with this stock" and then see the volume is 10 shares...

So correct me if I'm wrong, but the safest/simplest dip into the options game for me would be covered calls on the crap sitting in my portfolio I have a mind to sell anyways right? Like I don't mind losing my 100 share lots of intel, pizer, and some other crap a few dollars more than its trading for now.

And buy puts at prices on some other stocks that I have a mind to buy (back) into at a certain drop? Like cruises and airlines, which I do think WILL drop again as they all take more drastic measures to raise cash since they will be cash negative for some time to come.

Yeah I'm holding some of them from when you mentioned them awhile back. The volume has been super low, like no one knows about this stock. I am hoping once some news drops for them it catches on.

Correct, though technically you'd be selling puts in that instance, and specifically it's cash covered puts since you reserve the money needed to buy the shares if you're actually assigned, which most trading platforms will do automatically.

Yes. This company already turns a profit (not huge, but positive), has a proprietary trading platform (thus a moat), is a global company and uses blockchain tech. For me its a long term investment. The question is can they scale the growth. The biggest problem with it is that no one knows about it. Which is also why shares are still affordable.

Yeah, they give you everything like a buffet, and then you decide which strike/premium to go with. This is PLTR expiring 11/27

If I sell to open @ 17, I'd collect 35 dollars per option contract (100 * .35) and if by 11/27 its still above 17 I keep the 35 and the option expires. Or if the stock goes up during the week you can usually buy to close based on the ask price and free up your money early to open another option.

Yes except you are selling puts not buying them.

So covered calls (covered because you already one the underlying stock) are you selling the right for someone to buy your stock at a price above the current at a specific date in the future. Got a stock you aren't feeling special about anymore? Start selling covered calls on it. As long as the price at the point in the future is under the strike price you sold it at, you keep the premium and the stock. If the stock price exceeds the strike price you will be assigned at sell the stock at the strike and the buyer will be banking the profit between the strike and the current. Either way you keep the premium. Example. I sold covered calls expiring today at the $36 strike on DAL. Unless something changes I am going to be assigned today and get $36 per share, no matter how much above $36 the prices ends up at.

Cash covered puts. You are selling the right to someone to sell you their shares at a specific price in the future. Thus if you sell a put on PLTR at $15 at a specified date and it is above that price at expiry, nothing happens and you keep the premium. If PLTR drops to $10 on expiry then you are obligated to pay $15 a share (even though it is selling at $10 currently). Either way you keep the premium. It "really" helps to be able to read technical analysis data and charts to pick these price points.

What we dont talk about much is the value of an option. It has two components (intrinsic and time). Intrinsic is the strike vs the current. If the PLTR is trading at $16 and your pu above has a strike of $15, there is zero intrinsic value (15-16 = -1). if PLTR is trading at $14 then the intrinsic value is $1 (not actually, it doesnt automatically go 1 for 1 but scales via the delta and accelerates as it passes the strike). Time value is the value the option has based on how much time is left before expiry. The more time left, the more time the stock price can move into the money thus the more value it has. Read about time decay. It isnt linear and accelerates closer to expiry. Its important.

You dont need to hold the option open until expiry. You can trade it like anything else during normal hours. Its value (intrinsic and time) will shift with the underlying stock price movement. If you sell a put for $1.00 and two weeks later you can buy a put to close your position for 0.25 you can choose to do so and instead of making $1 per share you end up making 0.75 per share on the transaction. Remember you are selling something (the put contract) so to close it you need to buy one to replace the one you sold). The same applies to covered call contracts.

Since you use Fidelity download Active Trader Pro if you havent already. Option chain will open up the current options info on a stock (you can also do this from the individual stock). Strategy ideas will help you run some backtest data to help you.

I can stress this enough. Read about all of this (watch videos etc) to get comfortable with what all of this stuff is and how to use it. Make some practice trades and watch how the prices move.
