Im fine with $5 subscriptions. They allow friends/family to buy and share reasonably. $200+ for CATV is/was insane.
It's actually not the subscriptions that I mind, dollar for dollar the subscription model is pretty good. It's that the content is spread across multiple apps, and some of those apps are fucking garbage.

Also, skipping forward and backwards, and skipping commercials, was much easier on DVRs. A Dish Network DVR from 12+ years ago is better at skipping backwards/forwards than the most powerful addon streaming devices.

I just wish there was a single paid streaming service with an interface as good as the pirate sites.

All the streaming service interfaces are pure unadulterated AIDS in a GUI form.

I’m not quickly dismissing it, I’ve just been in the field for over a decade and have seen how difficult it is to automate some specific complicated functions. Even things that don’t seem complicated can be due to variables you don’t think of until you do try to automate it. I fully understand it evolves and comes slowly, we see new technologies coming around every year. More and more things will become automated, I’m 100% in agreement there. However I also recognize that some things won’t be. I’m just dismissing the idea that our world will be 100% automated in the near future, at least in our lifetimes. Maybe AI hits singularity sometime soon and I’m wrong 🤷‍♂️

I'm assuming you work with plcs then, you should know almost everything is able to be automated with ladder logic, sensors and air pistons. Every machine in my old company i replaced half our labor, all we needed was forklifts to load aluminum and steel rolled coils and to take the pallets of filled boxes to our shelves or the staging area. If the warehouse side was under my control i could have automated that as well.
Our revenue went from just under 1m a month to 5m a month in 3 years of me working there, half of that time was bitching to management to spend the money.

I know some of us are long-term bag holders on PYPL. For those interested in making an entry, it has shown pretty solid resilience at the low/mid 90's (overall market moves not withstanding). I like this $90-$95 range for new entries with a long view.
