Noodleface Noodleface , Sounds like you will be at location. Their puter, software and working with .civ(s). Not all places are the same, but save every email you get. Any request for changes from (civ) force them to email it to you in most cases, best judgement.
Just something to CYOA.

Some places are better than others environment wise but you dont want he/she said thing without something to back it up, ctr is the fall guy when shit hits the fan.

Nothing paranoid, but just in case, seem some crap in my time. Some ppl like to drive the bus!

I just got the written offer today. Gonna sit on it tonight but more than likely accepting and sending back tomorrow. They hit everything I really wanted and I'm just gonna go for it. I just want to review health benefits.

I'm sure this is a pointless question (I hope), but there's nothing you in your recent history that could effect your ability to obtain the sec clearance you need, right? Because if there is, do know they will drop you if you can't obtain 1

I've never been arrested or even had a speeding ticket

The worst offense I can think of is I have a few late payments on my credit report. They did mention credit report but I assume that's for people that default or other fairly major shit.

I'm such a lame-o, the last places I travelled to were Belize/Cozumel/Honduras/Grand Cayman for my honeymoon on a cruise.

Credit report (at least up here) rarely factors in to a clearance unless they can prove that it's a financial issue that could be used by someone to subvert you into giving up information. A few late payments are irrelevant as long as they're dealt with in the end.

DHS suitability is more concerned with credit anyway, for some reason. Known people woth TS/SCIs declined suitability

Yeah my credit is not the greatest from when I was younger but it's gone from 600ish up to about 740 or so now. I'm not too worried about it, at least I can explain it and it has all been dealt with.

Don't make jokes with them. ...They never have a sense of humor.

Does product design & digital branding count as a "software career"?

Luckily for secret clearances you don't usually have to deal with an actual background investigator. They just do a series of checks against various criminal databases, credit checks and occasionally send out cards to your listed references for them to fill out and mail back.

The BI I had for my TS when I first got it looked like one of those old washed up TV detectives who do Private Investigation now and take the job way too seriously. I remember he called and was ready to rip into me because he talked to one of my references and they told him I traveled to the Virgin Islands - after I had written I had no foreign travel. I told him, yeah, the US Virgin Islands... He just chuckled and hung up the phone.

I did so many character references for all my coworkers also getting their TS that the investigator knew my address by heart and my gate code.

I had to interview with someone for my secret when I sub-contracted at lockheed..But it may've been a lockheed employee?
They'll interview you if something isn't clear on your SF86/EQIP or if there are "flagged" things like travel to "enemy" countries, foreign spouse, dual citizenship or criminal stuff. If you don't have any of that they usually don't even have to talk to you. TS on the other hand they'll show up at your past jobs, knock on your neighbors doors and talk in person to all kinds of people.

I hear they check all your social media these days too.

Usually the contractor will coach you on how to get a clearance smoothly since it's in their best interest.
