The write-off for this movie is outrageous.

It is history, folks. Judging by that, this is in contention to be the worst all around movie that has ever been released. Move over, Gigli. There is a new biggest loser.

A direct to DVD concept that didn't even merit being made in the first place that got a full theatrical release. What could have possibly gone wrong?

If they'd had The Misfits, it would have outperformed that soon-to-be-abortion of a Star Wars sequel.

If they're yanking from the theaters there's not much chance of a cam source showing up anyway.

I don't see how movies like this miss the mark. Well, I do but, I don't understand why they choose to miss the obvious sell. This game had some major 80's/90's cartoon vibe nostalgia tied to it. No one would have said anything negative if it would have had the "real" Jem and Holograms and had them deal with The Misfits. There's not a magic equation of success here. Granted you're not going to reach anything "epic" but i'm sure they knew that going in. Their goal should have been to appease the audience, introduce Jem to an entirely new generation of little girls, and make a mint from merchandise and toys.

Idiots.... Only reason I even care is the continue crap on people's childhood with these movies and I knew a several who were looking to take their daughters and their friends to this and all I could say is now you know how we feel with Transformers but heck, at least we got some cool robots, explosions, and Peter Cullen. That's far more than these morons could come up with...

does anyone ever get fired for greenlighting these bombs or do they just keep failing upwards and continue to greenlight even crappier bombs? is anyone in hollywood aware that nobody wants to see these horrible movies? it boggles my mind how shit like this keeps getting made and yet original works that are beloved still are being ignored? yes i'm looking at you Dark Tower series, Talisman and Eyes Of The Dragon.

They probably just don't get promoted. Which is similar to getting fired.

Of course they probably also have a budget for the "FUCK YOU, IT'S JANUARY" movies. So it might be that the studio just expects X minutes of X number of movies to meet union contracts and they don't particularly care how awful the bottom 5% are. It's more about the business of keeping your grips happy and your equipment working than turning a profit. Althought a profit would be nice, hence probably no promotion.

I mean you've gotta have somewhere you can toss the crew for some on the job training. Better a movie like this than something else.

Just guessing, but it would go a long way to explain these sorts of movies.
