The better question is what is wrong with you that you find it reasonable to harass someone walking home from a grocery store enough for them to attack you, and then you escalating that conflict up to the point that a death occurs.

You have either never been in a fight or you are a fucking queer moron, likely both.

When a conflict is starting and beginning to escalate people are on edge. There may be running in the beginning, someone may try to flee, but that doesn't mean that the conflict is over. Often times such confrontations will continue for long periods of time. Just because Martin got a block away and Zimmerman started to return to his car doesn't mean that the altercation was over. Zimmerman, being the one to initiate the first stage of the altercation, should have been trying to calm the situation down.

Example 1: Zimmerman follows Martin and calls the police, Martin feels threatened and starts to yell at Zimmerman and/or run off. Zimmerman could simply yell that there wasn't a problem, that he was with the neighborhood watch and was just making sure that everything was alright. Boom. Done. End of confrontation.

There are ton of other situations that could have and should have happened. Escalating the confrontation to the point of death is the worst possible example that I can think of. In what world is that just?
